1 P Write each of your spelling words with a pencil. Then trace over each word three times, using a different color each time. Trace neatly, and you will see a funky rainbow! Use each of your spelling words in a sentence. Make sure you write detailed sentences, and underline the spelling word in each sentence. Use one spelling word per sentence. Example: Mrs. Estes is a huge fan of chocolate, and she eats a little of it every day! Write your spelling words in alphabetical order. Then write your words in reverse alphabetical order! Write each spelling word. Below each word, write it again like a staircase. Examples: books ruler b r bo ru boo rul book rule books ruler

2 P Get a plastic mat, and choose one color of Play-Doh. Use the Play-Doh to create each of your spelling words. Have a friend check your words to make sure they are spelled correctly. Write the alphabet vertically, and number the letters from Example: a=1 b=2 Write your spelling words, and c=3 convert your words to a secret d=4 number code. Write the code e=5, etc. next to each word. P Write your entire list of spelling words end-to-end as one long word (like a train). Use a different color for each of your spelling words. Example: slidebookrulercandy Write each of your words on two different pieces of scrap paper. Turn all the cards face down, and mix them up. Lay out your cards like you do in other memory games. Flip over two cards at a time. Read each card aloud softly as you flip them over. If you make a match, place the cards to the side. If you don t make a match, flip them back over, and keep trying!

3 Write a short story using ALL of your spelling words. Please make sure you underline each of your spelling words in the paragraph. Write your spelling words using bubble letters. After writing your words, color them in with a crayon or colored pencil. Write each of your spelling words three times. You may use a pencil, pen, crayon, colored pencil, marker, or any combination of writing implements available! Choose 5 of your spelling words, and write an acrostic poem for each word. You may also illustrate your poem, if you have time. Example: book Buried under blankets Opening the pages Oblivious to everyone around me Killing time the best way possible!

4 P Each letter has a value. Consonants are worth 5 points. Vowels are worth 10 points. Write your spelling words. Then add up the value of each of them. Example: said: = 20 points Use the sign language sheet to sign your spelling words to a friend. Make sure you give them your list, so they can check that you are spelling them correctly! This means I love you. Write your spelling words two times each. First, write each word in UPPERCASE letters. Second, write each word in lowercase letters Example: SLIDE slide Write each of your spelling words across and then down (sharing the first letter). Example: candy a n d y

5 Type your spelling words on the computer. Use a different font for each word. Once you re done, print out your words, trim them, and glue them into your WS notebook. Make a word search puzzle using your words. Go to give your word search a title, and type in your spelling words. Print out your word search & find your words. Once you ve found all your words, trim the word search, and glue it into your WS notebook. Grab a sheet of graph paper. Try to find a way to make all of your spelling words connect. Use bottle caps to spell out each of your spelling words. Move the bottle caps around to help you spell words that are hidden within each of your words. Try to find at least two hidden words in each of your spelling words. Example: slide (side, lie, lid, led, etc.) If you cannot make any new words, write a? next to the spelling word. That will let me know you couldn t find any words.

6 Using alphabet stamps, stamp each of your spelling words in your WS notebook. Write your spelling words in your WS notebook. Use letter tiles to spell out each of your spelling words. Move the tiles around to help you spell words that are hidden within each of your words. Try to find at least two hidden words in each of your spelling words. Example: slide (side, lie, lid, led, etc.) If you cannot make any new words, write a? next to the spelling word. This will let me know you couldn t find any words. Write down your spelling words. Use the dictionary to find its part of speech, and write it next to the word. Example: chocolate (noun) Write your spelling words in a list, but replace all the vowels with a line (like in the title). Go back to the beginning of your list, and without looking at your completed spelling list, see if you can fill in the missing vowels. Check the spelling when you are done, and put a next to your correct words.

8 Rainbow Vowels Write your spelling words in a list, but write all of your vowels in all the colors of the rainbow. Get a small chalkboard, a cup of water, and a paintbrush. Dip the paintbrush in water, and spell one of your spelling words on the chalkboard. Do this with each of your words, drying the board after each word. 9 Get a partner and the Spelling Baseball binder. Follow the directions in the binder and have fun with your spelling! PLAY BALL!! P
