2 Overview Overview Celerra Physical IP address to Virtual IP address migration utility is an Ionix ControlCenter utility that migrates physical IP addresses to Virtual IP addresses for the discovered Celerra systems. The utility also migrates the stored assisted discovery (ADA) requests. You have to run this utility before discovering the Celerra using virtual IP. To enable the virtual IP discovery support after using this migration utility, perform the steps mentioned in EMC Ionix ControlCenter 6.1 Release Notes and EMC Ionix ControlCenter 6.1 Update Bundle 9 Read Me. Note: This is a one time activity and you do not have to provide new ADA after the script is used. Prerequisites Before running the migration utility, ensure that the following prerequisites are met: Ionix ControlCenter should be upgraded to update bundle 9. Celerra should not be discovered using virtual IP. Database should be exported. To export the database, click Start > All Programs > EMC > EMC ControlCenter >Repository Maintenance > ControlCenter Repository > Export Database. IMPORTANT If fail over happens after Celerra being discovered using active physical IP address, then the standby or the passive physical IP address will be the active physical IP address. If the Celerra is discovered again using another physical IP address, console will display two physical IP addresses in the tree view. Any one of the Physical IP should be migrated to Virtual IP. CAUTION!: DO NOT DELETE THE OTHER PHYSICAL IPs. CONTACT ENGINEERS FOR CUSTOM FIELD MIGRATION. For example: If the discovered Celerra has IP address , due to fail over this IP address changes to standby or passive. Another Celerra with physical IP address will be active. If the Celerra is discovered again using the physical IP address , the console will display two physical IP addresses. If you have discovered Celerra using physical IP address before discovering using virtual IP address, you have to run this migration script. The migration script will convert all physical IP address to Virtual IP address in the database without any historical data loss. If you delete the physical IP addresses manually, all the historical data would be lost and migration script will not help in converting physical IP addresses to virtual IP addresses. 2 EMC Ionix ControlCenter Celerra Physical to Virtual IP Address Migration Utility Technical Notes

3 Installing the Migration utility Installing the Migration utility This section provides information on installing the migration utility. 1. Extract the Migrate.zip to <ECC_INSTALL_ROOT>\tools\utils\Migrate. 2. Move the CnameCoversionUtility folder from <ECC_INSTALL_ROOT>\tools\utils\Migrate to <ECC_INSTALL_ROOT>\tools\utils. 3. Verify for the following files under CnameConversionUtility folder: CnameCoversion.bat CnameCoversion.jar Log - folder containing the log files generated by Java. This folder will be created only after the migration is completed. Note: Delete any other files or folders available in this folder. 4. Verify if the upgrade folder exists under <ECC_INSTALL_ROOT>\repository\admin\Ramb_scripts directory. If not, create an upgrade folder. 5. Move the following files from <ECC_INSTALL_ROOT>\tools\utils\Migrate to <ECC_INSTALL_ROOT>\repository\admin\Ramb_scripts\ upgrade directory: DomainNameChange.dat TableColname.dat 6. Move all the other files from <ECC_INSTALL_ROOT>\tools\utils\Migrate to <ECC_INSTALL_ROOT>\repository\admin\Ramb_scripts directory. Note: After installing the Migration utility, Ionix ControlCenter Performance Manager refers two set of data provider under NAS container for the migrated celerra: Physical IP data provider: Historical data prior to migration utility installation, mapped to celerra physical IP provider. For time lines, prior to migration utility installation, Ionix ControlCenter user can use physical IP data provider to get the performance reports. Virtual IP data provider: After installing the Migration utility, Ionix ControlCenter performance manager creates Virtual IP data provider and the user can select Virtual IP data provider to query post migration performance manager reports. Setup and validate This section provides information on setting up and validating the migration utility. 1. Stop the NAS agent. 2. Stop all the Ionix ControlCenter services. 3. Create the following system variable by right-clicking My Computer and Properties > Advanced > Environment Variables and click New in System variables dialog. 4 Implementing the Migration utility Implementing the Migration utility Variable Name: ECC_HOST_NAME Variable Value: <ECC_INSTALL_ROOT>\ecc_inf\data For example, if the path is \ECC\ecc_inf\data\ecc_inf_hostname, then set the variable ECC_HOST_NAME to ecc_inf_hostname This section provides information on implementing the migration utility. 1. Login to Ionix ControlCenter Server or Repository system. 2. Verify the following and make changes, if required: a. In the command prompt, type Set to verify if the ECC_HOST_NAME system variable is created. If this system variable is missing, repeat step 3 as mentioned in Setup and validate on page 3. b. Ionix ControlCenter services are not running, if not, stop all the Ionix ControlCenter services. c. Verify the following services are running and are set to Automatic: OracleServiceRAMBDB OracleECCREP_HOMETNSListener 3. Edit the Domainnamechange.dat file located in the <ECC_INSTALL_ROOT>\Repository\admin\Ramb_scripts\ upgrade directory. The Domainnamechange.bat file should consist of the physical and virtual IP address information. Use comma (,) to separate the physical address and virtual address. For example, Physical IP, Virtual IP, Physical Hostname, Virtual Hostname, Physical hostname, Virtual IP Physical FQDN, Virtual FQDN, Physical FQDN, Virtual IP, Use the following sample screens to edit the Domainnamechange.dat file: If Celerra is discovered using physical IP address: If Celerra is discovered using hostname: 4 EMC Ionix ControlCenter Celerra Physical to Virtual IP Address Migration Utility Technical Notes

5 Implementing the Migration utility or If Celerra is discovered using FQDN: or If Celerra is discovered using Physical IP, ADA shows Physical IP. Later if it is discovered through Hostname, ADA shows two entries, that is, Physical IP and Hostname: 4. Open a new command prompt and type ecc_getversion to validate the ability to connect to the repository before running the migration scripts. 5. Navigate to %ECC_INSTALL_ROOT%\Repository\admin\Ramb_scripts directory and run Migrate.bat file. 6 Implementing the Migration utility Return code = 0 messages are good 6. Navigate to %ECC_INSTALL_ROOT%\Repository\admin\Ramb_scripts and run ramb_staging_disable.bat and ramb_staging_enable.bat. This script can be run only once. If an error occurs, import the last exported database. 7. Start all the Ionix ControlCenter services and NAS agent that were stopped.
