3 Financial Aid: Apply Every Year!!! Students can start filling out their FAFSA as early as January 1st! The Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) is available at: Student needs a personal identification number (PIN) Student needs to have their tax return and W2 s in order to complete the FAFSA. To apply for a PIN, visit and click on Apply for PIN UTPA RECOMMENDED PRIORITY DEADLINE: APRIL 1st

4 Important! Students must be ADMITTED to their respective graduate program to be eligible for any financial aid.

6 What types of aid are available? Grants: Free money based on financial need Scholarships: Free money based on financial need and/or merit Loans: Money that must be paid back Work Study: Money earned from a part-time job on or offcampus; based on financial need

11 Accepting your awards Log into: Go to Financial Aid Click on Accept Awards NOTE: Direct Deposit is available for student disbursements of financial aid. You can set it up via assist using the UTPA Services tab. If you have a HOLD on your UTPA Student Account, a check or Direct Deposit will not be sent to you. You will need to clear the HOLD before the check will be released to you.

13 Request Additional Financial Aid Form If you need additional funds AFTER you have been awarded, go to: Click on Request Additional Aid Complete and Submit form Summer Notification Form If you are planning to attend the summer sessions, go to: Click on Summer Notification Form Complete and Submit form

14 Important Financial Aid Tips Apply for financial aid every year before the priority deadline: April 1 st NOTE: Submit a Summer Notification Form if you plan on attending summer sessions (available online by January) Activate and READ your UTPA student regularly.
