2 The Project ERECI Egyptian Renewable Energy Cluster Initiative aims to set-up a stable cluster organisation. The project will include activities that will lead to the development of a business-driven cluster based on the triple helix model of collaboration between the private sector, universities and the public sector. 2

17 WP1: Project Management T.1.1: Kick-off (Task leader CU+ all partners) The ERECI project kickoff meeting was held on June 2014 with participation of all local and EU partners including CU, AUC, FEI/ECO, IMC, HU, NFS, Unime, and Innovbic (Annex 1.1) Objectives and methodology were examined and discussed. Work package leaders were familiarized with their work package tasks and responsibilities. The role of each partner in each work package was assigned for the individual subtasks. Project Schedule/Work plan, Gant chartwere reviewed and corrected according to the attached Gantt chart (Annex 1.2) Financial Plan and budgets for all partners were discussed Preliminary draft MOU were drafted and prepared for signature ( T.1.2 ) ERECI quality policy document was discussed and approved by all partners (Annex 1.3). 17
18 T.1.2: Set-up of consortium management infrastructure (task leader FEI/ECO): The ERECI project management framework/structure was set as follows: Project PI and Coordinator:Prof. Adel Khalil Project Co-PI: Prof. Sayed Kaseb Project Junior Manager: Dr. Ahmed Aboulmagd Project Technical Expert : Prof. Bahaa Zaghloul Project Consultant: Prof. Hany Elghazaly Administrative and Financial Officer: Mr. Essam Mahmoud 18
19 T.1.2 Continued MOUs between Cairo University and individual partners (Annex 1.5) were finalized and signed by all parties. Money transfer process was successfully accomplished in November 2015 to CU, Innova-BIC, NFS and OR. Money transfer to other partners is still in progress. ERECI quality policy document was developed by I-BIC and reviewed by FEI/ECO and approved by all partners in order to settle and regulate the control of the quality management activities The ICT infrastructure such as the project web site was developed with the help of I-BIC and CU. An Arabic translation to the web page is currently being prepared (Annex 1.6). A Dropbox folder has been created in order to host all ERECI project documentations in all work packages. Project management committee has been established 19
20 T.1.3: Management Meetings (Task leader CU as project coordinator) Two management meetings have been held in Cairo and Brussels as follows: Kick off meeting at Cairo University on June 26-27, 2014 with the participation of all the nine partners. Management meetings on May th and Nov.23 rd were held in Brussels and Barcelona with all the nine partners. Nineteen local partners meetings have been held in Cairo at different partners For each meeting, the coordinator from the hosting partner prepared the agenda and proposed the time and venue of the meetings (in coordination with partners).the coordinator was responsible for disseminating the minutes of said meeting to all partners to ensure that each partner would be represented in the meeting. 20
21 T.1.4 Project Reporting (Task Leader CU with support of all partners) The coordinator and his team have been in continuous contact with RDI office in Cairo to assure that all procedures and reporting templates comply with those set by RDI. The coordinator prepared an integrated annual technical/narrative progress reports as well as annual cost statement in accordance with the time plan. First progress report was submitted in 15 July
22 T.1.5: Evaluation activity (Task Leader IMC) Monitoring and evaluation forms were proposed by IMC and were reviewed and accepted by all partners. IMC filled and finalized the forms to illustrate the progress of the activities and its achieved results Status: Completed Barriers: None 22
23 WP2: Analysis (WP Leader FEI/ECO) T.2.1: Mapping Potential ERECI Cluster Actors in RE Value Chain (Actor Groups) (TL: FEI with involvement of IMC, HU, I-BIC)) The stakeholder's database created on Renewable energy sector in Egypt consisted of : Research institutions, Local industries, Traders, Organizations (NGO s and Public organizations), Consultants and Financing organizations. Ninety five percent of the created database has been completed. Since it is a live process, it is expected to be continuously updated during the project in order to include additional stakeholders to be identified at later stages. 23
24 T.2.2: Research Knowledge Identification, Analysis & Mapping (TL: HU with involvement of AUC, CU, UNIME) The activities of this task are focused on analyzing and mapping within each partner's capabilities in RES technologies and solutions either potential or ready for the market as well as the capabilities in RTD infrastructures and available facilities for testing. The analysis also investigates the SMEs needs in terms of innovation and company innovation strategy. The S&T topics that will be mapped will be linked to RES technologies targeted by the call: wind, solar (photovoltaic, solar heating and solar cooling. A Competency Catalog was prepared and will be posted online soon. 24
25 T.2.3 Analysis of RE Industry Technological Needs & Priorities (TL: AUC with involvement of I-BIC+UNIME) Desk analysis on needs and priorities of the industrial sector and its relationship to R&D institutions. Field analysis including questionnaire distribution to stake holders participating in info days and seminars as well as online analysis. 25
26 T.2.4 Cluster (Stakeholder) Consultation Report (TL: IMC with involvement of AUC, CU, UNIME, IBIC, NFS, OR) IMC prepared the cluster consultation report and shared it with partners. The report provides clear guidance for desired priorities, actions for the cluster, as well as key challenges and needs to be addressed, as well as strengths and opportunities to be exploited. The first draft report was completed and will be updated after conducting farther discussions and meetings with the stakeholders 26
27 WP 3: Cluster Action Program Implementation (WP Leader Oxford Research) T.3.1: Training of Cluster Facilitators. Cluster facilitator training was carried out in Brussels by Oxford Research for 14 participants in the period 12 and 13 May, Another training session was held in Cairo Sept 2015) T.3.2: Set up of cluster leadership group: on going T.3.3: Setting up cluster Task force: on going T.3.4: Development of Cluster Strategy and Action Plan: Cluster training strategy and time table were proposed, discussed and approved by the project management team. 27

29 WP5: Communication and Dissemination (WP Leader CU) T.5.1 Generate an operational communication and dissemination plan. I-Bic has prepared communication and dissemination plan. T.5.2 Communication Tools, products and Materials: I-Bic has prepared communication and dissemination materials such as roll ups, flyers, cards, letterheads, web site and social networks. Communication materials were finalized after review and discussions by all partners. Rollups and flyers are available. Partners are currently linking their personal and institutional web pages to the project website (wwww.ereci.eu). T.5.3 Papers and Reports (Task Leader HU with support of all partners): Report I was issued by HU 29
30 T.5.4 Organization and Participation to Dissemination CU PI and Co PI were invited to participation in GIZ workshop on RE cluster cooperation between EU and MENA countries in Hamburg on May 6 th, 2015 which was very useful in networking with other EU and regional clusters. Co PI delivered a project presentation at the RDI EC Regional Research and Innovation Clusters Workshop on May 27 th, 2015 explaining the ERECI concept, objectives and activities. CU PI, HU PI and HU Co PI participated on Euro summit summer school on solar energy ( March, 2015 ) in Sharm El Shaikh Egypt HU PI and HU Co PI attended Euro summer training school on materials in Lille, France on May Several Individual ERECI presentations were presented in local events 30
