3 With high long-term unemployment rates nationally, short-term career starting or career building programs help students re-enter the workforce with employer-recognized and needed skills and credentials. Montgomery College has been proactive in creating these programs, with outstanding results. 6 4-Year College and University Partners in Transfer Student Success Hillman Entrepreneurs Program A collaborative scholarship program between UMCP and Montgomery College Program supports, develops, and graduates ethical leaders who will energize and give back to their local communities in their business pursuits

7 4-Year College and University Partners in Transfer Student Success Universities at Shady Grove Terp Transfer Partnership A transfer access program created to benefit Montgomery College students who want to transfer to University of Maryland College Park for a bachelor s degree program at USG after earning their associate s degree Qualifying MC students receive a $5,000 scholarship for their first academic year upon transferring to any UMCP offered at USG

8 2- and 4-Year College and University Partners in Transfer Student Success STEM Transfer Student Success Initiative A collaborative grant from the Bill and Melinda Gates Foundation to UMBC and four partner community colleges: Montgomery College, AACC, CCBC and HCC. Increases transfer student success by creating and implementing a transfer success toolkit that addresses - curricular alignment transfer readiness preparation through online learning modules and pre-transfer advising transitional programs to facilitate social engagement before, during and after transfer

12 National Science Foundation ACCESS to Engineering MC SEM area was awarded a competitive, four-year, $600,000 grant from NSF Scholarships in Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics (S-STEM) for ACCESS Engineering (Achieving Community College Excellence, Success, and Scholarship in Engineering) On Ramp to STEM Provides students interested in life sciences, biotechnology, mathematics and the interdisciplinary nature of bioscience research with academic and financial support to succeed at Montgomery College

13 U.S. Department of Education Project Portal to Success in Engineering funded by a grant from the U.S. Department of Education Fund for Improvement in Post Secondary Education (FIPSE) Program designed to: promote academic excellence and student achievement develop mathematical, analytical, and research skills and prepare students to transfer to bachelor s degree programs in engineering
