1 GIAN SONG Department of Materials Science and Engineering The University of Tennessee, Knoxville, TN , USA Phone: (865) , Fax: (865) , Education and Training University of Tennessee, Knoxille Materials Science and Engineering Ph.D., 2011~ 2016 Sejong University, Korea Materials Science and Engineering M.S., 2008~2010 Sejong University, Korea Materials Science and Engineering B.S., 2000~2008 Research and Professional Experience Graduate Research Assistant, Department of Materials Science and Engineering, The University of Tennessee, Knoxville. l I contributed to preparing a proposal of a DOE project (DOE: DE-FE ), entitled Computational Design and Performance Prediction of Creep-Resistant Ferritic Superalloys (total funding amount: $ 625 K for the Two-Year Period of Performance, 10/01/ /31/2016), and am currently being involved in the project, focusing on the fabrication of alloys and studies on the creep properties, microstructural characterization, and understanding of the creep deformation mechanisms, using transmission electron microscopy (TEM), scanning-electron microscopy (SEM), atom probe tomography (APT), and advanced neutron diffraction (ND). l I have carried out in-situ loading experiments using neutron diffraction at Los Alamos National Laboratory, Oak Ridge National Laboratory (United State America), and Rutherford Appleton Laboratory (United Kingdom) to understand the micro-deformation behavior between constitutive materials during deformation. I conducted the crystal-plasticity finite element model to simulate the experimental in-situ neutron results. l I joined a DOE project (DOE: DE-FE ) in Aug. 2011, entitled Computational Design of Creep-Resistant Alloys and Experimental Validation in Ferrtic Superalloys (total funding amount: $ 1,500 K for the Four-Year Period of Performance, 10/01/ /31/2014), and focused on the alloy design/development, microstructural characterization, and creep deformation mechanisms, using SEM, TEM, and advanced neutron/synchrotron diffraction. l Teaching MSE 201 (Spring, 2014), Introduction of Materials Science and Engineering (lap tour to introduce lap facilities and experimental procedure) l Dissertation Title: Microstructure and creep deformation behavior of a hierarchical-precipitate-strengthened ferritic alloy with extreme creep resistance Graduate Research Assistant, Department of Materials Science and Engineering, The Sejong University, Korea. l Alloy fabrication using arc-suction, induction-melting, and melt-spinning facilities. l Characterization technique for the analysis and study of microstructural influence by alloying design on mechanical properties of Mg and Ti-based eutectic composites. SEM, UTM, TEM and XRD techniques are used for the study of the microstructure and mechanical properties of eutectic composites.
