1 Tan Chong National Cheng Kung University (TC-NCKU) Scholarship Policy 1.0 PURPOSE Tan Chong Motor Holdings Berhad and/or any of its subsidiaries ( the Group ) to provide scholarship opportunities for deserving National Cheng Kung University Malaysian undergraduates pursuing studies leading to a 1 st degree in engineering. Upon successful graduation, the Malaysian Engineering Scholars will be offered employment with companies under the Group ( the Company ) 2.0 ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS 2.1 Full time Malaysian students pursuing studies in engineering degrees in their 1 st, 2 nd, 3 rd or final year at National Cheng Kung University (NCKU), are eligible to apply for this scholarship. 2.2 Applicants must be below the age of 40 and in good health condition. 2.3 Applicants must fulfill the required minimum credit limit determined by NCKU, achieved average score of Active participation in extra-curricular or sport activities. 2.5 Applicants must not be presently holding other scholarship / loans or bonded to any other corporation / foundation/ governmental bodies. 3.0 AREA OF FOCUS 3.1 The course of study must be in the field of engineering. 3.2 Eligible engineering courses for purpose of this scholarship shall include but not limited to the following: Civil Engineering Mechanical Engineering Engineering Science Resource Engineering Materials Science & Engineering Environmental Engineering Aeronautical & Astronautical Engineering Systems and Naval Mechatronic Engineering Chemical Engineering Hydraulics & Ocean Engineering Geomatics Electrical Engineering Computer Science and Information Engineering Electro-Optical Engineering Manufacturing Information and Systems Page 1 of 5

2 4.0 APPLICATION PROCEDURES 4.1 Scholarship Applicants are required to submit the following documents: Duly completed original copy of TC-NCKU Scholarship application form A copy of Malaysia Identification Card (front and back) A copy of bank savings account passbook or equivalent document An essay describing the applicant s career aspiration, working experience (if any) or how they can contribute to the Company in NOT less than 1000 words (in English) Official academic transcripts for all previous semesters (not applicable for year one first semester) Two letters of recommendation written by lecturers from NCKU or other Universities of which the Scholar previously studied (not applicable for year one first semester) A certified true copy of service recognition for all extra-curricular activities and relevant supporting documents (high school extracurricular activities record for year one students as an alternative) Proof of study in NCKU. 5.0 SELECTION OF SCHOLARS 5.1 Upon submission, the Scholarship Committee together with Group Human Capital Management (GHCM) will review the applications and short list applicants for interviews. 5.2 The Representative(s) from GHCM/ Businesses shall sit in the interviews to select the most suitable/ appropriate applicants. 5.3 Upon selection, the successful applicants shall be required to enter into an agreement within the Company and shall fulfill all the terms & conditions of this scholarship. 6.0 AMOUNT OF SCHOLARSHIP AWARD 6.1 The full scholarship is based on the NCKU total course fees which are inclusive of Tuition Fees and Miscellaneous Fees (Student Safety Insurance, National Health Insurance), Living Cost and Accommodation. 3 6.2 The scholarship will continue to be awarded on the condition that the scholar maintains a record of good academic results (referring to 2.0) as stipulated in the this policy. 6.3 The number of scholarships to be awarded each year is at the sole and absolute discretion of the Management. 6.4 The scholarship will be credited to Scholars Malaysian bank account. 6.5 The scholarship will be premised based on NTD. The exchange rate to be used to convert to MYR shall be based on the Bank Negara Malaysia exchange rate at the point of time transaction is done. 7.0 DISBURSEMENT OF SCHOLARSHIP 7.1 The scholarship amount will be granted to the Scholar at the beginning of each semester. 7.2 Scholar is required to produce the following to GHCM for verification and record purposes within 1 month at the beginning of every semester: A certified true or original copy of receipt after payment is made to the institution/ university A certified true or original copy of previous semester examination results and/ or transcript as well as other relevant documents A certified true or original copy of previous semester service recognition for all extra-curricular activities / relevant supporting documents. 7.3 Scanned copy of the documents above is required to be ed to learn.dev@tanchong.com.my. 7.4 Students who have completed their final semester studies are to submit their final academic transcript to GHCM for verification and record purposes within seven (7) working days from its release date. 8.0 BONDING PERIOD 8.1 Scholar must serve an employment bond period with the Group for up to a maximum of four (4) years or the actual duration of the university programme (if more or less than four (4) years), upon successful completion of studies. 8.2 The bond period is subject to the total amount of scholarship received by the Scholar. Scholarship received in each semester is equal to six (6) months of bond period. Amount NTD89, per semester (RM9,282.00) per semester Bonding Period 6 Months Page 3 of 5

4 8.3 Employment Bond will commence from the date the Scholar commences employment with the Group. 9.0 TERMINATION OF SCHOLARSHIP 9.1 The scholarship shall be terminated if any one or more of the following circumstances were to exist: The Scholar is expelled by NCKU for committing academic misconduct or violating NCKU s rules and regulations justifying the Scholar s expulsion The Scholar decides to terminate the scholarship prematurely The Scholar drops out of the course or opts to discontinue the course The Scholar is unable to maintain good academic results (referring to 2.0) for more than two semesters during the scholarship period The Scholar is unable to complete the studies within 6 years Death of the Scholar False declaration of information The Scholar receives any other form of education scholarship or financial aid of any sort whatsoever from other business entities, organisations or individuals during the tenure of the scholarship The Scholar changes his/her major without prior written approval of the Company. 9.2 With the exception of 9.1.6, upon termination of the scholarship due to any of the above reason(s), the Scholar is required to refund the sum of scholarship which has been paid out to him/her. 9.3 The settlement period is within six (6) months from the date the scholarship is terminated TERMS AND CONDITIONS 10.1 The Scholar must inform GHCM six (6) months in advance of his/her final semester of studies The Scholar shall accept any job offered by the Group within six (6) months of graduation (completion of studies) Where any employee resigns from the Group or where the services of an employee is terminated by the Group for whatever reasons during his bond period, he shall be required to repay the Group liquidated damages for a sum equivalent to his/her unfulfilled bond period. 5 10.4 All decisions of the Company in relation to the NCKU Tan Chong Scholarship shall be final and binding ADMINISTRATION OF THE NCKU TAN CHONG SCHOLARSHIP PROGRAMME This shall be the joint responsibility of the Talent & Organisation Development Unit and Talent Acquisition Unit, GHCM EXCEPTIONS This policy may be changed from time to time at the sole and absolute discretion of the Company.
