2 Project Goals Support autonomous living of people with cognitive disabilities using simple software and hardware. Give the software in open source for everybody to use and / or improve it. Use technology for inclusion i and not seclusion Create a network between users, parents, caregivers to support use and communication

48 Training: step by step learn to do more and more and adapt the interface

49 Evaluation and impact so far Users with mild cognitive disabilities (aged 20-60) 4 persons moved in the two residential flats in Segrate, Milano, Italy 2 groups of 4 persons each for laboratory of autonomy in Albavilla, Como, Italy. (formal eval activities under way) Initial interest high - Laboratory sessions lively Need of continuous training and support for IT maintenance Residents privilege phone call application Institutions interest skewed to the domotic part Tutor support crucial to keep Residents system updated with useful information (money, appointments) but so far discontinuous Multimodality offers reinforcements: users learn and improve their skills

50 Conclusions Crucial to combine social aspects with technology: build awareness and consenus between caregivers, parents and users It s not (all) about Domotics : it s about helping doing everyday stuff buy things, call people, decide how to organize your time, go to bed without worrying Technology mature: Open source model viable Future: create a service around this prototype, making it even simpler make packages that can be taken, personalised and used, with the assistance of parents and/or local institutions
