7 Extended Membership (now 21 voting members): 4 federal agencies (EPA, USGS, NOAA, USACE ; potentially USFWS, NPS) WMDs, state agencies (DEP, FWC, DOH, DACS) Increased FLERA representation 1 member from each region Representative - Ocean Observing Community Representative -Volunteer organization Representative - Florida Lakes Management Society (FLMS) FDEP manages meetings and supports Council liaison Leader is ex-officio; cannot vote

17 Why a Catalog of Monitoring Programs? Who, what, why, when, where is monitoring being conducted in Florida? FWRMC 2008 Action Plan identifies the need for Catalog of Monitoring Programs (Action Item 1-1) Align freshwater ---> coastal monitoring efforts Starting point for assessing metadata/data comparability Minimize duplication Leverage resources Align surface water and groundwater monitoring efforts

18 Take advantage of the time and resources that other projects have devoted to similar efforts, look for guidance from their experiences, and take advantage of the cost efficiency associated with using an existing platform...

19 Working Group & Process Reviewed 18 web-based, interactive catalogs and atlases based on 3 criteria: user interface ability to search metadata for program/project information ability for individual entities to upload stations/metadata Narrowed search down to 3 possibilities: GOMA/SAA efforts USF Water Atlas MapDirect

20 Sent out Statement of Needs for FWRMC Catalog of Monitoring Programs to address the following: Design/infrastructure Portability/server locations Cost Schedule On-site assistance Respondents submitted pre-proposals

21 Funding and Contractor Selection Funded with EPA 106 supplemental funds USF Center for Community Design & Research (Water Atlas) 3 year contract Year 1: Functional Requirements Document, Catalog design and implementation Years 2 & 3: Refinement and maintenance Dovetailing architectural efforts with Florida STORET replacement (WIN) Iterative process between workgroups, FDEP, and USF
