PowerOn Fusion Software Suite Overview PowerOn Fusion ADMS has been purpose-designed and built for distribution management. The system uses a modular software architecture on the core real-time platform to enable a flexible approach to deployment. The core platform provides a real-time, highly scalable and resilient base for selected modules. The ADMS includes over 50 modular functional components encompassing: Distribution Management: -- SCADA and Network Management Outage Management Distribution Optimization Base Functions Unlike most ADMS products, PowerOn Fusion has been built with an off theshelf product philosophy from the beginning. This approach has resulted in a richly configurable product, which is deployed to utility customers around the world without code customization. Diagram look and feel, graphics, asset model, business rules, safety checks, etc., are all tailored without code changes, meaning the same product code base is used by all customers. The advantage to utilities is lower life-cycle costs for the system, regular software upgrades without major re-engineering and benefits from the good product ideas which come from the varied customer base. This approach also enables regular software updates as required for third-party compatibility and patch level support, ensuring the system can maintain conformance with enterprise IT policy over time. Where customers seek new functionality, GE uses a collaborative approach to seek to extend the core product set and avoid true customizations which would bring higher life-cycle costs for the customer. GE holds PowerOn Fusion customer events with the user community at multiple times and locations throughout the world every year, promoting shared learning and building consensus on product direction. 4 Distribution Management The distribution management modules of PowerOn Fusion ADMS are deployed on the same core platform base functions and single network model as Outage Management and Distribution Optimization. Distribution Management provides the network management tools for planning and executing switching work and operating the distribution network at all voltage levels, from extra-high voltage (EHV) sub-transmission through HV and LV distribution. Smart Switching PowerOn Fusion s advanced switching applications provide distribution utilities with state-of-the-art tools to improve the quality of their supply. Switching Management is the core workflow within the Work Package Manager module. Switching programs can be imported, created by operators using the graphical interface or automatically created by the smart switching advisor. Work packages are used for planned and fault restoration work, as well as ongoing operations, e.g., network reconfiguration or voltage control. When performing unplanned switching, the operator can use the system to easily identify possible ties and simulate switching options. The system automatically captures all actions into a work package for record keeping. Every switching step can be simulated and visualized online, without shifting to a separate study session, against current and network normal states. Every step is authorized for business-specific safety rules and work practices and operators alerted prior to switching to ensure compliance. Permits and safety documents can be issued and tracked, and conditions validated to ensure workforce safety. Switching is automatically pre-validated using safety rules, topology processing and distribution power flow including look-ahead studies. Control zone hierarchies (Areas of Responsibility - AORs) allow network control to be assigned to control desks and easily shared or transferred as workloads change or during night shifts. Additionally, areas of the network can be delegated to field crews or contractors for field control. Switching operations, including applying cuts and jumpers, can be operated in ganged (all phases in one operation) or un-ganged (one or more selected phases) mode. The mode of operation is determined by the configuration of the model. For example the network backbone can be switched ganged for simplicity, while underground or secondary networks are switched un-ganged. Complex situations, like temporary re-phasing on site can easily be represented, ensuring accurate network representation at all times. Switching Planning Switching requests originate from various sources within the distribution business. PowerOn Fusion allows enterprise users to submit switching requests via a web-based interface similar to an airline reservation system, removing the need for paper-based access requests. Data input is prevalidated and potential clashes with existing planned work can be identified right at the start of the process. Requests can include draft switching programs, selected back feeds and temporary generation requests for maximum quality of input to the control center. Distribution Management with geographic and schematic views Once work is scheduled, switching plans can be created using the graphical point and click interface, simulated and tested prior to approval and confirmation. Planned work can be re-validated, while control operator workloads can be balanced by supervisors, with planned work weighted according to complexity. Planned work packages can be reviewed, simulated and validated before being approved for scheduling. Like the switching management functions, switching planning can use safety, topology and powerflow to validate planned switching work as part of the approval process. Temporary Devices The operational network model in PowerOn Fusion is built from the as-built model, plus current operational status. Temporary cuts, jumpers, grounds and generators can be introduced so that they become part of the operational model for the period of their use. This means that the model is always up to date with the current status, giving accurate connectivity analysis for safety rules, outage prediction automatic switching including FDIR and distribution power flow results. Mobile Switching PowerOn Fusion extends out from the control center into the hands of the field crew. Switching work can be electronically sent to field crew with mobile devices, and the crew can instantly confirm authorized switching by secure communication, while obtaining greater visibility of other crews, promoting safe working. The mobile devices can be phone, tablet or laptop devices. A rich mobile client provides direct linkage to electronic field diagrams, maps and GPS navigation devices. The use of mobile switching has been shown to shorten outage durations and reduce crew to control room interaction times, enabling more crews to be coordinated by control operators. 4 GEDigitalEnergy.com

Topology Processing All network status updates, from SCADA, manual input by control operators or from crew using mobile devices automatically update topology processing in PowerOn Fusion. The system automatically tracks the electrical state not just energized or de-energized, but also the safety state to correctly identify isolated (tagged and locked out) assets, full and partial grounding, loops, parallels and normal versus abnormal feeding arrangements. This granularity allows clear visual representation to operators on the accurate current state of the grid, and also directly feeds into safety validation checks, for example fulfilling pre-conditions on permits to work on the network. Auto Gen Schematics Simply select a feeder in the graphical view and the system will automatically generate a simplified schematic view of that circuit. The device and conductor states are automatically updated as the network is switched, providing a clear dynamic view of the distribution network. Click in the schematic to extend to adjacent feeders, and view the circuit breaker and tie point summary for the selected network. Distribution State Estimation PowerOn Fusion uses sophisticated techniques to combine the available measured SCADA with the predicted load model to accurately allocate load across the load points. This analysis is performed in the background each time a powerflow study is performed giving much more accurate results than basic load flow. Distribution Power Analysis Using the load allocated model created by distribution state estimation, the powerflow analysis uses a highly accurate and extremely rapid full unbalanced powerflow technique, verified against IEEE reference models and field proven in operational use, to calculate full P and Q for every phase for the full model under study. This process is exceptionally fast and has been proven to work for not only radial networks but also looped, meshed and critically for networks with embedded generation sources. The power analysis gives enhanced situational awareness for the distribution network, and provides not only visual information to the operators, but also the underlying data for many of the advisory and optimization features of PowerOn Fusion. The distribution power analysis runs in cyclic mode by default, re-calculating the entire distribution network without operator intervention, with results available to view in both current and simulated network states at all times. Operators can also trigger on-demand studies, what-if scenarios or tailored studies with specific settings at any time without having to manually snapshot and switch to a study session. Time Series Historian PowerOn Fusion s embedded data storage technology makes historic data easy. The ADMS can automatically store the full distribution model powerflow results for all assets on every calculation in addition to all selected measured values. Access real-time, historic and predicted powerflow information PowerOn Fusion gives operators transparent access to historic data for the whole system automatically, for example prior day load curves, and provides the data for many additional analytics. All of this information can easily be shared with external systems via standard web services. This record everything approach avoids the need to manually snapshot into study sessions for future study operators can return to a previous point at any time. In addition, selected key points can also be archived to external historians, providing a full range of historic data options. PowerOn Fusion also holds historic operational data online for all user actions, including switching and data changes, providing full historic traceability for the system. PowerOn Fusion uses state-of-the-art data storage technology to efficiently store effectively unlimited system data with very fast retrieval. LV Management As factors like embedded residential generation and plug-in electric vehicles increase, the strain on LV networks increases and the presence of possible non-isolated power sources under fault conditions creates potential hazards for field crews. The same types of tools and processes used at higher voltages can be used to manage work at low voltages. PowerOn Fusion supports LV network management. LV Network Management The LV network can be ten times larger in terms of assets than the higher voltage networks. It is therefore vital to be able to automatically import the LV network from another source, such as a GIS, rather than having to maintain it in the operational system. The ADMS network model update interface supports both bulk and on-going incremental updates of the LV network from an external system to avoid data maintenance overheads. GEDigitalEnergy.com 5

LV Operations The safety rules, that is to say the checks that the system should automatically perform for each switching action, can be set up specifically for LV switching rules. Similarly, operator roles can be set up to allow LV operations, while protecting access to higher voltages. LV Power Analysis The PowerOn Fusion distribution powerflow analysis provides accurate powerflow results for radial and meshed network configurations. The same techniques used at higher voltages can be applied to the LV networks. For most accurate results, LV feeder monitoring devices are used with the state estimation engine to combine load profile data and current measured values. Working with geographic views of the distribution system Alarm and Event Management PowerOn Fusion is a real-time, event driven system. Events can be derived from SCADA, user calculations set-up within the system or algorithms within the management software. The system is designed to scale to extreme event avalanche scenarios, while maintaining system performance. Some types of events generate alarms, which are presented to the user in a sophisticated consolidated Alarm User Interface (UI). The alarm and event UI provides fast sorting, filtering, grouping and information highlighting for powerful and flexible alarm management. Each control desk will run with at least one alarm UI with alarms for that desk s AOR at all times as a minimum. The alarm subsystem can process extremely high volume events, with controls for shelving/un-shelving and grouping, while alarms can be re-directed to external systems or fewer desks as shift changes and staffing levels adjust. Calculation Engine The PowerOn Fusion data model contains not only property-value information for each object, but also allows for user-definable calculations to be used to generate values, very similar to the way Microsoft Excel uses underlying calculations to generate values in a spreadsheet. Calculations are triggered on an event (instantaneous) or temporal (time-based) basis and are continually re-evaluated as dependencies are updated. A comprehensive formula library provides all the tools you need to automatically interpret measured data. This incredibly flexible mechanism allows for unlimited derivation of results, graphics, etc., based on any combination of system inputs. Tags, Limits and Quality TLQ Management The ADMS manages traditional SCADA Tags as well as operational documents in a single consistent user interface UI. Limits can be individually assigned or, more commonly, managed through limit profiles to simplify seasonal limit changes by region or type of equipment. Limits can also be interactively updated by dynamic rating calculations, both internal and external to the system. Explore the network visually The quality of all values is assessed based on the source of the data, whether RTUs are disabled, enabled, online or failed, and whether any inconsistencies exist in the referenced data for calculations. Qualities are reflected in the real-time and historic databases as well as visually on screen. ICCP PowerOn Fusion supports ICCP for connection to external control systems, e.g., EMS systems. The GE implementation supports additional optional blocks to allow exchange of documents/tags between systems to ensure safe operation of boundary equipment. Protocol Library PowerOn Fusion supports standard modern protocols like DNP3.0 and IEC over serial and IP communications for maximum off-the-shelf interoperability with SCADA equipment. Additionally a large library of legacy protocols is available for plug-in to older installed equipment. The ADMS also supports OPC for data collection from separate embedded SCADA systems. Trending PowerOn Fusion provides a variety of real-time and historic trending options for the presentation of measured or calculated values. 6 GEDigitalEnergy.com

Master Log Avoid paper based record keeping in the control center with the Master Log. The Master Log provides an electronic log book for record keeping of all incidental information and non-switching actions that are generally recorded in the control environment. Notes can be made general notes or notes tied to assets or desks for later auditing, or for passing information at shift handover. Group Telecontrol Manager The Group Telecontrol Manager provides a visual environment to set up, approve and trigger pre-defined groups of commands to telemetered equipment. Common schemes are used to manage Voltage Control, Bushfire Auto Reclose Settings and Load Shedding (see Load Shed and Restoration section). The system allows operators to build groups of equipment so that commands can be sent to small numbers of devices, sent in sequence to many devices or broadcast quickly to large numbers of devices. Load Shed and Restoration Manager The Load Shed and Restoration (LS&R) Manager uses the base framework of the Group Telecontrol Manager to allow groups of load to be set-up for inclusion in load shed plans. The LS&R extends this functionality to provide for very detailed rota-based load shedding plans to be set up, on a periodic and calendar basis for national emergency scenarios, and ad-hoc load shed requests to be accessed quickly. Load shed can be invoked by authorized operators using a wizard interface to select the desired load shed amount and quickly let the system achieve the required level. Crew Summary Manager Operators can easily manage field crew working with them with the Crew Summary Manager. With built-in mobile system integration you can see which crews are logged in via mobile devices and which are communicating via voice. Crews can be allocated, dispatched and instant messaged, including SOS alerts. Automation Manager The Automation Manager provides a built-in programmable logic engine that can be used to build automation directly into the system, triggered by any defined system condition. Programming is possible in a fully visual flow chart environment or directly in the powerful underlying high-level interpreted language. The Automation logic has full access to the real-time system and can read and write from the database as well as issue controls. A build-test-review-approval lifecycle is built-in and full audit trail logging is performed on logic changes and logic execution. The Automation Manager provides boundless possibilities for userdefined intelligence at the control system level. Field Diagram Manager Field crews typically use copies of control maps for reference. PowerOn Fusion provides a facility for electronic control maps to be deployed direct to mobile devices and also for the management and preparation of paper map books directly from the system for periodic field diagram refreshes. Commissioning Manager Today s distribution networks have new telemetered equipment commissioned every day. PowerOn Fusion lets you manage the commissioning process, by tracking the commissioning state of every asset and proving tools to commission test and promote new equipment into operational use. The SCADA Manager provides a summarized view of substations and RTUs and their associated commissioning data for privileged users. In commissioning mode the diagram background color changes and clearly displays all equipment driven by non-commissioned scan points. The Equipment Explorer and Alarm Displays show equipment and alarms generated in this test mode, such that operational statuses are not affected. SCADA configuration and data can be fully set up and tested prior to being fitted in the field with zero impact to the operational control system while commissioning work packages provide a full audit trail of commissioning testing with audit log. The external historian interface automatically handles retiring/un-retiring of tags when the commissioning state of plant items changes. All Apps launch from one place GEDigitalEnergy.com 7

Outage Management The Outage Management modules of the PowerOn Fusion ADMS build on the same core platform as Distribution Management and Distribution Optimization, and can be deployed on the same servers, or in synchronized sets of servers in a different security zone. Integrated OMS brings many operational benefits, with a shared network model supplying always up-to-date network status to the dispatchers, while providing instant outage related information to control. This connection means that switching work for fault restoration need only be recorded once and in the same way as all other types of switching. An integrated OMS has been shown to result in higher network reliability when compared to standalone OMS and DMS deployments. The PowerOn Fusion connects the network asset and customer models to accurately understand customer impact of outage events, and provides the cornerstone for improving customer service. Outage Prediction A mobile application screen: Outage Management connects the utility to its customers PowerOn Fusion uses information from many sources to determine the supply status of its networks and any customers impacted by a loss of supply. Sources can include traditional methods such as telemetered network devices and customer reported telephone calls as well as status update messages from smart meters or even smart phone applications. As new information from customers and smart meters is received, PowerOn Fusion alters the extent of its predicted power outage. If there is no SCADA information available to verify scope, on-site field crews confirm which devices have operated to provide protection from a fault. Restoration Management PowerOn Fusion helps utilities manage power outages on their networks by providing timely and up-to-date information to customers, field crews, managers and regulators. A combination of schematic and geographic diagrams can be used for maximum understanding of an outage scope and restoration strategy. Switching work automatically updates the customers on and off supply as work takes place, and information is recorded for analysis and shared with call center and smart phone applications. PowerOn Fusion provides full support for identification and management of nested outages, ensuring accurate representation of active faults on the network. A full audit trail is maintained for all outage and repair work, enabling the system to support regulatory audits and greatly simplify and automate outage accounting administrative work that is often done manually post-outage. Mobile Dispatch Planned or fault tasks can be dispatched directly from dispatch centers to a mobile device in the field. Laptops, tablets and smart phones can receive planned or unplanned jobs with information on location, tasks and requests for updates. While the mobile dispatch can be deployed standalone, the same mobile application can incorporate the mobile switching functionality including diagrams, maps and GPS navigation integration. Dispatchers can issue single premise, LV and HV outages to field engineers with mobile devices. Field engineers can provide real-time updates on the status of incidents including estimated time of restoration and customer numbers on or off supply during restoration. A sophisticated facility for fault data capture is also provided. Call Taker The highly scalable web-based Call Taker application is suitable for use within in-house and outsourced call taking environments. Inexperienced operators are walked through the call taking process with wizard-based scripts, ensuring consistent customer service and information capture in high-volume situations. Operators have access to up-to-date outage information and estimated restoration times (ETR) and can tag relevant critical information for direct visibility back to dispatchers and control operators. Customers can select notification preferences for restoration notification via call back, SMS text, fax or . For utilities using third-party call center applications, the OMS fully supports IVR to capture calls and set specific messages relevant to current conditions. Managing Outage Work 8 GEDigitalEnergy.com

Smart Meter Integration PowerOn Fusion connects to Smart Metering Infrastructure, with a set of standard web-service interfaces supporting last gasp outage notification and meter pings. This connection provides even faster outage detection and accurate scope prediction where smart meters are available, while operators can interactively verify meter status, avoiding outage dispatch for issues beyond the customer meter. Outage Analysis Customer calls, meter events and SCADA statuses are all used to accurately predict and update the scope of an outage. Outages are automatically created as information becomes available, and the predicted scope enables easy prioritization by dispatchers. Estimated restoration times are calculated based on current conditions including type of fault, travel times and time-of-day, re-calculating as resources are allocated and arrive on-site. Reliability indices are automatically captured and updated as each outage progresses through its restoration stages. Storm Manager For exceptional outage events, business as usual is not an option. PowerOn Fusion allows system managers to quickly and easily move into storm modes, with a simple traffic light control. This allows streamlining of system processes and optimization for high volume situations as they happen. Customer Management Full customer management capabilities are available including: Capability to produce lists of customers who are to be affected by prearranged incidents; Management of customer notification letters; and Call and incident histories for call takers and dispatchers. Outage Reporting PowerOn Fusion includes an out-of-the-box set of business and regulatory network reports, and a user-friendly visual report building environment to create business-specific reports as required. The unique system architecture enables reports to access a mirrored, near real-time, database giving fast report access without impacting system performance even during storms. The system automatically creates fault reports for every outage and captures times, durations and affected customers for each restoration stage. It also allows for identification of multiple interruptions and calculation of CI and CML for use in CAIDI, SAIDI and SAIFI reports. GEDigitalEnergy.com 9

Distribution Optimization Distribution Optimization brings operationally relevant analyzes and optimizations to the control room. Focus on short- to mid-term aids operational decision making. FDIR PowerOn Fusion has successfully deployed automatic power restoration schemes over the last ten years, helping to drastically improve SAIDI metrics for many customers. The ADMS builds on that experience to provide sophisticated FDIR functionality, with proven restoration capability and a clear focus on safety checks and balances with fail-safe methodology. The FDIR utilizes the powerflow engine for optimized restoration, but will also safely isolate and restore without powerflow data available if required. The FDIR intelligence isolates faults to the smallest possible section using fault location, restores upstream power and looks for the best load transfer options for restoring downstream customers. If no single circuit can accommodate the downstream load, the ADMS can split the downstream section and seek multiple transfers to restore the maximum customers. If all downstream customers still cannot be restored by this approach the system can also reach into adjacent circuits and use feeder reconfiguration to create capacity for the transfers. The result is the maximum number of customers restored in the minimum possible time and maximum impact on reliability. Switching Advisor The Switching Advisor allows operators to access the intelligence behind FDIR in an interactive mode to prepare switching programs. In addition to recommended switching for outage isolation and restoration, recommended switching can also be generated for planned switching, for example taking equipment out of service and transferring load without interruptions. While FDIR looks for automatic switches in order to run closed loop, Switching Advisor works with both manual and automatic equipment. In practice the FDIR automatically runs to isolate the fault to the smallest possible section based on available tele-controllable switches. Once crews arrive on site, the next stage is to compress the outage through manual switching. The Switching Advisor also creates proposed switching steps for this squeezing of the outage scope, while still ensuring that available capacity of other limits are not violated. Feeder Reconfiguration If available capacity cannot be found in adjacent circuits during switching recommendation, the feeder reconfiguration function is able to look further into the network and create switching plans to reconfigure adjacent feeders to create capacity for load transfers. This functionality is used both automatically by FDIR and can be used interactively by the operator through Switching Advisor to generate proposed switching plans. 11 System Dashboards Demand load curves for customers connected to the distribution system IVVC The PowerOn Fusion Integrated Volt-Var Control (IVVC) module offers a flexible optimization based approach to Volt-Var management. Userdefinable objective functions and constraints allow the module to be used to focus on Voltage control, Var or Power Factor control, or a combination. Typical constraints will be secondary voltage limits to ensure quality of delivered voltage. Objective functions can be defined and run on a scheduled basis, for example to focus on peak shaving during high load and general voltage conservation at other times. For example operators may choose maximum Var support to supply Vars when the grid requires. The IVVC module utilizes the operational model used for switching and the distribution powerflow to ensure consistent accurate recommendations. A 24-hour look-ahead function uses the load forecasting data to optimize scheduled operations. Load Transfer Capacity Load Transfer Capacity gives operators full visibility of the load transfer capacity of each tie point, which can be used in manual and automatic recommended switching to avoid overloads. PowerOn Fusion uses the unbalanced powerflow studies to calculate the distribution transfer capacities for all tie points. This is the amount of additional current that could safely flow through a tie point (normally open point) if closed. The transfer capacity is visualized on or near the tie point on the network diagram. In addition, the asset (which is the cause of the limitation) can be highlighted for each transfer capacity. Load Forecasting Using historic load curves as a base the load forecasting engine uses regression techniques to forecast expected load over the short- to midterm. The load forecasting is used by other analytics functions to perform look-ahead analysis. Distributed Energy Resources Management Distributed Energy Resources (DER), such as embedded generation and energy storage, can be modeled, monitored and controlled as an integral part of the ADMS model. All feeding and powerflow analysis automatically incorporate DER into results. The system uses the network connectivity model to aggregate total embedded generation under a grid supply point and display total embedded generation, providing greater visibility of actual load conditions. Fault Location Fault location interfaces with relays to use distance to fault calculations, and fault passage indicators to identify predicted faulted sections. Probable fault locations can be visualized on the conductors on the network diagram and fault locations are used by the FDIR and Switching Advisor functions as input to isolate faults. Training Simulation PowerOn Fusion can incorporate rich operator training environments, encompassing all system functions in a standalone environment. This allows for operator training, scenario-based training and major event replay. Simulation of network events, through a comprehensive SCADA simulation and scenario development environment, is combined with network simulation, using powerflow modeling to simulate the impact of operator actions. The SCADA simulation provides a realistic full end-to-end RTU and protocol simulation using the SCADA configuration, allowing injection of boundary conditions and codes from the end devices as well as scripted scenarios. The simulation also extends to Outage Management with call generation to simulate outage events, predictions and information from call centers in training scenarios. GEDigitalEnergy.com 11

Dynamic Thermal Limits PowerOn Fusion provides a rich set of options for managing thermal limits. Overhead line capacity is directly affected by temperature, wind speed and direction. This relationship is particularly important where wind generation is connected to the distribution network. As an alternative to wholesale network re-enforcement, the ADMS can instead dynamically calculate actual thermal limits given the local conditions and provide higher circuit capacity when wind generation is at its greatest. A state-of-the-art algorithm incorporating ground modeling, the impact of wind shear and ambient temperature has been proved to greatly increase effective throughput. In addition, as an alternative, PowerOn Fusion is able to interface with external systems calculating dynamic limits and utilize the calculated limits in real-time. Transmission State Estimation For utilities managing significant sub-transmission assets, with meshed EHV networks, the ADMS offers an integrated state estimation module. The state estimation utilizes exactly the same calculation engine as GE s PowerOn Reliance EMS package, but runs on the ADMS model. The State Estimator processes the power model and all telemetered power system measurements to obtain consistent estimates for electrical states of all modeled devices. The state estimation validates the power model statuses and identifies any bad data within the measured values. The state estimator is run in background mode and can be run interactively as a base study to create a consistent model for secondary studies. Transmission Contingency Analysis Transmission Contingency Analysis assesses the security of the power system by identifying contingencies and assessing the potential impact. Contingency Analysis uses a base model from the State Estimation or Balanced Load Flow studies and can be run in background or interactive mode. Fault Level Studies For the distribution grid PowerOn Fusion offers full phase-by-phase fault level studies allowing 11 fault scenarios to be investigated. Additionally the operator can perform fault decrement (G74) on all 11 faults scenarios allowing complete investigation of the impacts of distributed generation on the switchgear and X/R study a combination of two G74 studies combined with the log function. This is calculated by placing a fault with given fault impedance and neutral impedance on specified phases of each busbar in turn. Protection Validation Using the distribution model and protection settings in the ADMS, the system can also use the fault calculation studies to verify the effectiveness of selected protection settings and highlight issues to the operator. Dynamic Thermal Line Rating Geographic Model Allows accurate incorporation of weather measurements. Thermal State Estimation Deliver >30% capacity increase for existing and new circuits. Weather Station Ambient temperature, solar radiation, wind speed and direction used for dynamic calculations. Solar radiation and ambient temperature factored in Wind speed increases generator output and circuit capacity 12 GEDigitalEnergy.com

Making the Right Model Available The operational model (connectivity, customer and load models) and historic time series databases hold all the information required to create a baseline study in a planning package, based on any selected point in time. PowerOn Fusion also holds planned network extensions, and future network states can be studied as well as previous states. The built-in historian provides full historic data access for offline studies. Easy as Importing models from various sources into a planning package used to be a very technical multi-step process. With PowerOn Fusion, the connection is seamless. Once set up, the operator simply: 1. Selects the network to study; 2. Selects the time/date to base the study; and then 3. Exports the model into the planning system With PowerOn Fusion your planning team does not have to learn new tools; instead they can maximize the investment in assets and training with their existing packages. GEDigitalEnergy.com 13

Data Management PowerOn Fusion provides the full range of data management options you need to manage data and protect your investment. A powerful tool chain of built-in functions enables system build and data maintenance as part of your business processes. For the connected utility, comprehensive external interoperability with CIM v15, DXF and other formats are supported for import, which allows for a single point of data maintenance. All model changes are made on-line, including SCADA, ensuring seamless data updates whether they are applied automatically from external sources or by operators into the system. Future designs are also modeled so they can be studied and simulated as well as introduced in phased, controlled steps. Real World Data Management Many operational systems assume the provision of perfect data from other sources like the corporate GIS in order to feed the operational model. In the real world this process is complex, with multiple systems and flows of data. The drive for single point of data entry is a common goal, but solutions need to account for the business process. PowerOn Fusion gives you the tools you need to attain consistent timely access to operational data and maintain the model on an ongoing basis. This is achieved by supporting multiple modes of data management that minimize data maintenance costs one size does not fit all. Some of the most common modes of operation for introducing new assets are: 1. Design in GIS, Energize in DMS 2. Design in CAD, Record Assets in GIS, Energize in DMS PowerOn Fusion enables both scenarios with its rich set of data management tools. In the first scenario, models sourced from a GIS can be imported in incremental designs (CIM std) and then energized in the DMS through switching. Sometimes the designs aren t constructed exactly as expected. That s no problem for PowerOn Fusion. The last minute changes called in from site can be incorporated into a redlined design in the DMS, which becomes a temporary layer on the operational model. When the design changes flow back to the GIS and are eventually re-sent to the DMS, PowerOn Fusion will reconcile the permanent record to replace the temporary version. Working with GE s Electric Office product the GIS can be automatically informed when proposed designs are energized, closing the loop on the workflow. Data is entered once, but the status of the new designs are managed through the business process by the GIS and DMS talking together. In the second scenario, designs may begin life in desktop design platforms. These are passed for construction and various business processes and will result in the designs being passed to the DMS and GIS for introduction. The DMS will be updated prior to energization, whereas the GIS may not be updated until sometime later. This scenario presents a possibility of data divergence and duplicate entry. PowerOn Fusion provides automated tools to automatically reconcile the DMS and GIS and automate asset information between them so that only the bare minimum data is dual entered and both systems remain consistent. Whatever your data maintenance business process, PowerOn Fusion is a great fit. Built for Distribution The PowerOn Fusion ADMS has been designed and built for distribution management, rather than evolving from a transmission management product like many similar technologies. With this fresh start, a completely flexible approach to data modeling is taken, instead of fixed schema data models used in older systems. The PowerOn Fusion data model is object-based, with comprehensive libraries of standard objects defining classes available for use in the system. These class libraries are entirely user extendable without code changes, giving complete freedom to customize asset models, symbol sets and business rules should you choose. The use of class libraries means that data model changes can even be made after the network build, with changes to the class template reflected to instances used in the network. The system provides a comprehensive set of data maintenance tools to aid in the management of the data model. The data model holds full asset information, hierarchical relationships (e.g., substation, busbar, bar, feeder) and the network connectivity model. In addition the system holds load models, customer models, operational models, crew models and more to give a fully integrated representation of the distribution system. PowerOn Fusion provides the tools you need from the initial model import and layout schematization, to ongoing incremental updates, changing only affected devices. The system is designed to handle the high-volume of network and SCADA changes that a modern distribution utility experiences. 14 GEDigitalEnergy.com

ADMS Core Platform Architecture PowerOn Fusion is built on a distributed architecture which allows many servers to be automatically synchronized in real time over a wide geographical area. This approach delivers the highest possible system resilience, and a variety of multi-site deployment approaches. While most control system architectures rely on main-standby or mainmain server architectures, PowerOn Fusion utilizes an n-server replication platform where servers can be in any physical location. This supports massively distributed control centers (very wide area), multiple on-line control centers and automatic control center islanding and reconnection. Interoperability The ADMS supports business workflow and data management interoperability with service oriented architecture interfaces, delivering connected business solutions and single point of data maintenance. A large library of service interfaces is available with the system, providing integration to everything from ERP, GIS, SCADA, Customer Systems, Smart Metering, Mobile Systems and so on. In addition to the web service interfaces a number of dedicated interfaces exist including inter control center (ICCP) and OSISoft Historian. Usability The PowerOn Fusion ADMS provides a completely modern windows look and feel user interface. The environment support familiar usability features like drag and drop, cut and paste and browser style bookmarks. In addition each users settings persist, regardless of which workstation they log into, including window positions, sizes, font sizes, filter settings and so on. UI elements such as font sizes can be scaled on demand, and window layouts adjust automatically to accommodate, providing visual clarity for all users. Powerful conditional formatting rules and filtering in summary displays visually pull information from data. Scalability The PowerOn Fusion ADMS scales from the smallest substation sized deployment to the largest systems in the world. The architecture uses a combination of vertical (more powerful hardware) and horizontal (distributed processing) to easily scale up as required, supporting many millions of customers, SCADA IO and network elements in a single system deployment. Security The ADMS provides functions for host- and role-based security enforcement as well as full audit tracking capability. Client server communication is via secure HTTP. PowerOn Fusion can be securely deployed in hardened environments. The architecture supports secure zone deployment, with DMZ servers for certain functions. GE provides security services to customer including patch verification and service level updates. PowerOn Fusion has undergone full independent external testing at the Idaho National Labs (INL) and GE actively works to adapt to the evolving security landscape with every release. Base Functions The ADMS platform contains many features providing enabling or common functionality across the operational areas, including; Patch Management Zone Management Document Search SCADA Configuration SCADA Monitoring SCADA Manager Limit Manager Maintenance Grouping Field Allocation Manager Equipment Explorer Load Profile Manager System Admin Tools Crew Management Resource Editor Modular Applications with a Single Operational Model Distribution Management Outage Management Distribution Optimization Advanced Distribution Management Single Operational Data Model GEDigitalEnergy.com 15
