2 Ranked No. 1 for Student Experience The Republic of Ireland has the highest student satisfaction rankings in Europe, with Maynooth University ranked highest in Ireland. The awards are based on reviews submitted by about 17,000 international students studying across Europe to the Studyportals International Student Satisfaction Awards. Maynooth University was one of five universities across Europe to receive an outstanding rating based on student responses.

Paul Mc Callion, UNHCRMA Anthropology & Development graduate Moving from his career as an electrician into Masters study at Maynooth University, Paul now works as an energy expert with the UNHCR. Working as a mature student in the evenings takes a lot of commitment and I was delighted with the first rate support I got from Maynooth University. I was encouraged by my lecturers to do an MA in Anthropology and Development as they recognised that my area of interest (indigenous uses and adaptation of electrical and renewable technologies) was under researched and ground-breaking. Naushaba Hasin Biology graduate After completing her MSc in molecular biology and biotechnology in India, Naushaba was awarded a John and Pat Hume research scholarship from Maynooth University to carry out a PhD in yeast genetics. During her studies at Maynooth University, Naushaba contributed to an international collaboration with researchers at University of Chicago in studying a new approach in cancer therapeutics. Naushaba is now working as a postdoctoral scientist at the National Institutes of Health (NIH), Bethesda, USA.

4 Masters Programmes with dedicated, one to one support Masters Student Profile Ciaran McFadden MSc Business Management At Maynooth it is the individual that matters; the university is renowned for its supportive educational ethos. Our small class sizes and one-to-one guidance from senior lecturers and global researchers challenges and inspires students, giving them the support they need to reach their potential and to build a stand out resume or CV. Having graduated with a Bachelor s degree in Biomedical Science I decided to take a conversion Master of Business Management to broaden my horizons and add to my career prospects. From starting as a first year undergraduate student in Maynooth, I can honestly say I still love it. The lecturers are all approachable, there is a club or society for every interest and the campus has a friendly, small-town atmosphere that belies its fantastic international reputation for research and teaching. Ciarán has recently been awarded a Fulbright scholarship for his PhD research.

5 World Class Structured Research Programmes Research Student Profile Dr Wendy Fuller PhD Sociology graduate All research students at Maynooth University undertake a Structured Research MSc/MLitt or PhD Programme. The aim of the structured programme is the advancement of knowledge through research, supporting the PhD student researcher with professional skills training to prepare them for a career in global research. My graduate work in the Sociology Department at Maynooth University gave me more than just an expertise in fields like social psychology, gender, globalization and education. It gave me the tools that I would need to explore the social world in a rigorous and sound way, enabling me to conduct research which stands up to international scrutiny. It also afforded me with the opportunity to learn how to teach at the university level through both Professional Certificates in Teaching and Learning and the chance to instruct classes throughout the four years of my doctoral work.

6 Postgraduate Scholarships Maynooth University offers Masters and PhD Scholarships for full-time postgraduate study in September Taught Masters 2,000 Scholarships There are sixty Taught Masters awards of 2,000 open to all BA and BSc level 8 honours degree graduates who are applying for a Taught Masters programme at Maynooth University in September Maynooth University Research Scholarships Project based and individual research scholarships are available across the University offering funding support for new PhD students. The University has its own internal annual application process for individual research scholarships. The graduate studies office also provides workshops, advice and support for research students making applications for external funding such as Irish Research Council scholarships. 8 How to Apply EU Student applications should be made on-line at maynoothuniversity. Applicants must have a current working address to use this online application facility. Non-EU Student applications may be submitted online via the Postgraduate Applications Centre: or via one of Maynooth University s trusted education agents. For further information visit: /international All applications for Maynooth University postgraduate programmes must be submitted online via There is a nonrefundable fee payable to PAC, which enables students to apply for up to 3 postgraduate programmes. Applicants need to register their details on the PAC website before selecting their course choices. Programmes should be selected in order of preference. Places are offered based on course entry requirements. Certified copies of all official transcripts of results for all non-maynooth University qualifications listed MUST accompany the application. Non Maynooth University applications: Official University Transcript of Results. The transcript must give full name, date of conferring and the name of the degree awarding body. If the transcript of results does not give the Conferring Details, a copy of the Degree Parchment / Certificate should also be supplied. Non-Maynooth University applicants who are currently completing undergraduate/postgraduate programmes and have not as yet completed final exams/graduated should submit certified copies of academic transcripts with details of subjects studied and results to date.
