7 1. Introduction These release notes accompany Omgeo OASYS SM version They provide the latest information about the service and software upon which it is based. The release notes also contain a listing of the outstanding issues or defects. Where applicable, these issues are listed with suggested workarounds on page 15, Section 8, Known Issues and Workarounds. 2. Release Information Omgeo is providing OASYS to provide OASYS workstation clients with the option of using SSL VPN (Secure Sockets Layer Virtual Private Network) to connect to OASYS. The OASYS workstation is now also certified for Windows Vista Business. 2.1 Requirements To install OASYS 5.2.1, you need a workstation with Windows XP with Service Pack (SP) 2 or Windows Vista Business. OASYS is not certified on Windows Microsoft SQL Server TM 2005 Express Edition with SP 2, which is required for OASYS 5.2.1, is installed by the OASYS installation program. For more details on the requirements, see the Omgeo OASYS System Requirements in the Omgeo Documentation Library at Release Notes 7

8 2.2 Upgrading from Omgeo OASYS 4.x and 5.x If you are upgrading from OASYS 4.x and 5.x, you do not have to make any changes. When you upgrade from OASYS 4.x or 5.0, the OASYS installation program copies the data from your existing database to a new SQL Server 2005 Express database. Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Express replaces OASYS MSDE. Note OASYS 5.2 and use the same SQL Server 2005 database. So OASYS installation program leaves the 5.2 database intact. Before you upgrade to OASYS 5.2.1, use the OASYS Backup tool to back up all data. Note If you are upgrading from OASYS 5.2, Omgeo recommends that you remove OASYS 5.2 after you verify that OASYS is working as expected. Because OASYS 5.2 and use some of the same registry entries, you need to run a special OASYS program after uninstalling OASYS 5.2. Your Omgeo Client Center Support representative will work with you to run this program. 2.3 Status of Outstanding Trades When Upgrading All outstanding trades should be in ACCRCVD status prior to upgrading. You will need to contact the Omgeo Client Contact Center to recover trades if you have a trade that is not in ACCRCVD status. 2.4 Compatibility with Previous Versions When you upgrade to OASYS 5.2.1, you can send messages to OASYS 4.x and 5.x counterparties and receive messages from them. Investment managers cannot send a Size greater than 7 characters to counterparties using a pre-oasys 5.0 release. Omgeo OASYS

9 3. What s New? OASYS delivers the following: SSL VPN (Secure Sockets Layer Virtual Private Network) connection for OASYS workstation clients The installation utility configures SSL VPN automatically when you install OASYS. Note Omgeo will begin working with clients who want to use the SSL VPN connection after the OASYS workstation is released. You must sign up to obtain an SSL VPN connection. The SSL VPN connection is discussed in more detail on page 10. OASYS certified on Microsoft Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2 (SP 2) and Windows Vista Business. To install OASYS on Windows XP, you must have Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 with Service Pack 1 (or greater) installed. If you want to use Internet Explorer 7, you can install it only after installing OASYS Windows Vista comes with Internet Explorer 7 installed. SQL Server 2005 Express Edition will be the OASYS workstation database engine, not MSDE which was used for OASYS 4.x and OASYS 5.0. OASYS is an optional upgrade for all clients. See Compatibility with Previous Versions on page 8 for information on compatibility with earlier versions of the OASYS workstation. Release Notes 9

10 3.1 SSL VPN Connection for Workstation Clients OASYS will give OASYS workstation clients the option to use SSL VPN, which provides a secure connection to OASYS using standard web browser technology. You can use SSL VPN instead of a modem. To take advantage of SSL VPN, you will need: OASYS on your workstation Access to the internet Internet browser Note If you are interested in the SSL VPN option, you need to ensure that the speed of your internet connection will meet your needs. The transmission speed over an SSL VPN connection is dependent on the speed of your internet connection. When OASYS is released, you will receive more details on how to obtain the SSL VPN connection. 3.2 Omgeo OASYS Workstation Certification For this release, Omgeo will certify the OASYS workstation on Microsoft Windows XP Professional with Service Pack 2 (SP) and Windows Vista Business. Note To install OASYS on Windows XP, you must have Microsoft Internet Explorer 6 with Service Pack 1 (or greater) installed. If you want to use Internet Explorer 7, you can install it only after installing OASYS Windows Vista comes with Internet Explorer 7 installed. 4. Installing Omgeo OASYS Omgeo strongly recommends that you install OASYS on a dedicated workstation. Omgeo OASYS

The table below corrects these errors and, for your convenience, also provides the BIA enrichment information. Note Only trades with security types that settle at DTC or FED can obtain enrichment from ALERT. An asterisk (*) in the BIA column indicates that the security receives BIA enrichment only if the BIA cross-reference uses ALL as the security. Release Notes 11

14 6.2 Running Trade Reports A Microsoft program, which is run during installation, should configure SQL Server 2005 Express Edition to enable the xp_cmdshell command. The xp_cmdshell command allows the trade reports to be generated as.csv files. Occasionally, the installation program does not enable xp_cmdshell and you receive an error when trying to run a trade report. If this occurs, an Omgeo Client Contact Center representative will work with you to enable the command. 7. Closed Issues This section list the issues that were closed in this release. The internal Omgeo reference numbers, if available, are in the Ref No(s) column. Ref No(s) Description You cannot set up OASYS F5 SSL VPN as a secondary connection The installation program does not automatically configure the OASYS F5 SSL VPN connection The Broker workstation cannot process a 20-character Account Code in the allocation. Trades with 20 character Account Codes cause the broker workstation to crash and prevents the trade (and subsequent trades in the queue) from being downloaded. Trades that are imported into OASYS 5.2 when using the OASYS 3.5 import format are not automatically sent to TradeSuite for matching. On the Broker workstation, the Broker Added Input (BAI) is not included in the export file. When the account does not have the Alert Access Code, the Internal Allocation Ref# does not import into OASYS. Omgeo OASYS

15 8. Known Issues and Workarounds This section contains a list of known issues and their workarounds, if applicable. We will address these known issues in a subsequent release. 8.1 Stop Match Request Must Be Used to Cancel Settlement Notification Ref No(s): 34378, 34438, Stop Match, settlement notification To cancel a settlement notification, you must send a Stop Match request. You can send a Stop Match request on an allocation that was sent to the custodian and: Matching, or Not sent to matching To send a Stop Match on an allocation that was not sent to matching, select To Custodian and deselect To Matching on the allocation. Not applicable. 8.2 DD-MMM-YYYY Not Displayed in Quick Filter Ref No(s): date format, Quick Filter If you select the date format DD-MMM-YYYY in System Properties, the format is not displayed next to Trade Date in the Quick Filter window. 16 8.3 To Matching Set to N if Imported with Space Ref No(s): importing, To Matching field During an import, if the user provides a space (' ') in the To Matching field, it is imported with the To Matching value as N (unchecked) on Allocation Details screen. However, OASYS should generate an error message when any character other the Y or N is entered or the field is blank. Enter a Y or N in the To Matching field or leave it blank. 8.4 Pre-Notify Custodian Value Not Defaulted to To Custodian Field Ref No(s): Pre-Notify Custodian, settlement notification When you create allocations with Pre-Notify Custodian checked on block, the To Custodian field on the allocation is automatically checked. But if, after creating the allocations, you check and uncheck Pre-Notify Custodian on the block, To Custodian value on the existing allocations do not change. However, if you create another allocation, the To Custodian value is unchecked. Not applicable. Omgeo OASYS

17 8.5 Stepout To Field Displays Misc Field Value on Broker Workstation Ref No(s): equity trade, Misc field When you create an equity (EQU) trade with a value in Misc. and Commission Code fields and send the trade to a broker/dealer, the value from Misc. field displays in the Stepout To field on the Broker workstation. Not applicable. 8.6 PTC Displays on OASYS 5.0 Broker Workstation Ref No(s): PTC, settlement location While generating trades on pre-5.0 Institution workstation with the settlement location PTC, the value PTC is displayed on the OASYS 5.0 Broker workstation. Since the settlement location PTC is removed from OASYS 5.0, PTC should not display on an OASYS 5.0 Broker workstation. Not applicable. Release Notes 17

18 8.7 Security Types Removed from OASYS 5.0 Still Appear on Trade Summary Screen Ref No(s): upgrading After you upgrade from OASYS to OASYS 5.0, some of the security types that were removed from OASYS 5.0 still appear on the Trade Summary Screen. The Security Type GEN was removed but it still appears after the upgrade. This security type should be changed to MSC. Pre-5.0 users can continue to use CP, CS, GEN, MTF, OTH, PS, RP; however, these security types are converted to MSC when sent to an OASYS 5.0 investment manager. Put trades in ACCRCVD status before upgrading. 8.8 Trade Report Column Headers Not Easy to Read Ref No(s): Trade Report The column headers in the Trade Report.csv files are not easy to read. For example, Security ID displays as IDOFFinInstrISIN. Not applicable. Omgeo OASYS

19 8.9 Upgrading Trade with REJECT and Invalid Security Type Causes Problems Ref No(s): upgrading During an upgrade on the Institution workstation, if the trade includes a security type that was removed from OASYS 5.0 and the status is REJECT, you cannot modify the rejected trade after the upgrade and it is no longer in use. Before upgrading, all trades should be in ACCRCVD status Incorrect Error for Importing Trade with Asset Class Blank and Invalid Security Type Ref No(s): importing When you try to import a trade with any of the security types that were removed from OASYS 5.0 and the Asset Class field is blank, an incorrect error message appears in the log file: X02080 The Asset Class field " 9@" must be "E", "F", or blank Only import trades with the supported security types for OASYS 5.0. 20 8.11 Error Displayed When Copy Selected Without Selecting Broker of Credit Entry Ref No(s): Broker of Credit table When you click Copy on the Broker of Credit table without selecting an entry, OASYS 5.0 displays an error message and then allows you to enter a new record in the table. Select an entry in the Broker of Credit table before you click Copy Trade Reports Display Allocations in Incorrect Sequence Ref No(s): Trade Report If a trade includes more than three allocations, the allocations do not appearing in correct sequence in the following Trade Reports. 1. 21 8.13 Non-Sequential Omnibus Allocations Do Not Roll into One Ref No(s): Omnibus Allocations containing sub-accounts linked to the same OASYS account with the same allocation details should roll up into a single allocation, no matter their placement or order in the trade. Currently, only sequential allocations roll up together. Before you import a trade, sort sub-accounts so that the subaccounts linked to the same OASYS account are sequential Receive Error When Downloading Tables Ref No(s): tables, downloading Occasionally, when you connect to the OASYS host, you get an error when the OASYS tables are downloading from the host and the download is incomplete. To complete the download of the OASYS tables, disconnect from the OASYS host and then reconnect to it Cannot Tab Through the Connection Configuration Fields Ref No(s): Connection Configuration fields In the Connection Configuration screen, you cannot use the Tab key to move between the fields. 22 8.16 Event Log Does Not Function on Windows Vista Ref No(s): User Account Control, Event Log, Windows Vista The Workstation View > Event Log menu does not function using the Windows Vista. While the Windows Event Log is still accessible through the Windows Administrative Tools, the workstation file menu no longer launches the utility. To correct this issue, disable the UAC: 1. Select User Accounts in the Windows Control Panel (must be administrative user). 2. Select Turn User Account Control On or Off. 3. Uncheck Use User Account Control and click OK. 4. Restart workstation for change to take affect Windows User Account Control Disrupts Automation of SSL VPN Ref No(s): User Account Control, SSL VPN, Windows Vista, connections When the User Account Control (UAC) is active, a user must validate each SSL VPN connection, preventing SSL VPN sessions from connecting to the host without intervention each time. To correct this issue, disable the UAC: 1 Select User Accounts in the Windows Control Panel (must be administrative user). 2 Select Turn User Account Control On or Off. 3 Uncheck Use User Account Control and click OK. 4 Restart workstation for change to take affect. 23 8.18 Cannot Install on Windows XP with Internet Explorer 7 Ref No(s): installation, Windows XP, Internet Explorer 7 The installation fails if you try to install OASYS on a Windows XP workstation with Internet Explorer (IE) 7. Remove the Internet Explorer (IE) 7 updates and then IE 7, following these steps: 1. Go to Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel. 2. Click to select Show updates. 3. Remove all updates listed (indented) under Windows Internet Explorer 7 - Software Updates and reboot if necessary. Windows Internet Explorer 7 Remove first Windows Explorer 7 - Software Updates Security Update for Windows Internet Explorer 7 - (KB939653) You must remove the updates before removing IE7. 4. Remove Windows Internet Explorer Install IE 6 with Service Pack 1 or greater. Release Notes 23

24 8.19 Error Displayed in BAI SEC Fee Field Ref No(s): BAI SEC Fee, Export Block Record Format When you upgrade an OASYS Broker workstation and open an Export Block Record Format that you created in OASYS 4.0.3, BAI SEC Fee and Original Face appear above BAI SEC Fee when you click on it. If you move BAI SEC Fee and double-click on it, an MFC Application error appears. If you click the Don t Send tab, the OASYS workstation closes. When the MFC Application error appears, click the Cancel button User is Unable to Install Oasys on 64 Bit Processor Machine. Ref No(s): processor speed You cannot install OASYS on a workstation with 64 bit processor. Install OASYS on a workstation with a 32 bit processor. Omgeo OASYS

25 8.21 SSL VPN Values on Connection Configuration Screen Remain After Moving Row Ref No(s): SSL VPN, Connection Configuration screen On the Connection Configuration screen, when you use the down arrow to move the OASYS F5 SSL VPN row down, the values in the VPN Connection and Service Name columns do not move down and change to read-only fields.
