Internet penetration in Africa is only at approximately 16% with a growth rate of over 3000% in the last 10 years. It is therefore crucial to secure your domain names at this early stage. 2 Sunrise (14 June July 2013) TRADEMARK OWNER OR ASSIGNEE Domain must be based on a trade mark registered before 1 April 2013 The following information is required: TRADEMARK Domain Name Word mark Name of Trade Mark Agency Registration number Classification Owner / Assignee A copy of the trade mark certificate and renewal certificate will be required if the trade mark office is not listed in Annexure A (see below). Spaces between words can be deleted or replaced with a hyphen. Special characters can be removed or transcribed or replaced with a hyphen. It is acceptable to shorten the trade mark and exclude some text (such as slogan) but it is not allowed to split the trade mark word. Example: a trademark Freestuff, your resource for free stuff could be shortened into freestuff.ga but not into free.ga or stuff.ga ADDITIONAL INFORMATION per year (non-refundable). $ per year (non-refundable). R per year (non-refundable). Domains are not allocated on a first-come, first-served basis during this phase therefore the time of receipt of an application is not taken into account. If more than one Applicant submits an application during this phase for a specific domain, it will be registered based on the outcome of an auction process.
