The University of Arizona ADMINISTRATIVE EXPERIENCE Assistant to the Director, University of Arizona Study Abroad Program in Fortaleza, Brazil Organized and led cultural excursions for students in Fortaleza and field trips for students to other cities near Fortaleza -Assisted the director with administration of program in areas such as budgeting, housing for students, obtaining transportation for excursions, and other administrative tasks Program Director, Advocates for Justice and Education, Washington D.C Managed $100,000 federal grant to establish a Community Parent Resource Center (CPRC) in Northwest Washington D.C. for families of diverse backgrounds (predominantly Spanish-speaking) who have children with special needs -Responsible for federal grant reporting of CPRC; wrote additional grants to obtain further funding to support CPRC activities -Managed day-to-day operations of CPRC, including the work of 2 full-time employees, one part-time employee, and dozens of parent volunteers -Developed and implemented bilingual curricula and trainings (Spanish/English) to inform parents about the laws governing special education and to empower them to advocate on behalf of their children -Developed and implemented curricula and trainings for DC Public School personnel about the laws governing the education of children with special needs Program Coordinator/ Instructor, Howell Public Schools, Howell, MI Obtained funding through grants, developed curricula, and taught a summer English Language Learners Program to improve reading, writing, speaking, and comprehension skills of non-native English speaking elementary school students -Created lesson plans, acquired materials, designed and implemented activities which allowed students to improve skills in an enjoyable environment EDITORIAL POSITIONS Editorial Assistant.
