2 Company Profile ReStart is a dedicated provider of data integration and management solutions within the Healthcare and Commercial markets. ReStart s consultants come from a variety of integration backgrounds ranging from the largest Healthcare integration projects in the NHS, including a National Messaging Architecture, to major European commercial projects. These include the design, development and deployment of an Opensource Clinical Portal at Leeds Teaching Hospital, a full MPI solution and a number of dashboard-based solutions which ultimately support an organisations integration infrastructure, adding value every step of the way. Java CAPS (Java Composite Application Platform Suite) delivers a true SOA infrastructure. Surrey & Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust I procured and installed an integration engine first about 10 years ago and realised from that experience that it was essential to work with experts who could support our business need. Our consultants have experience working with IEs including Orion Rhapsody, IBM Websphere, Cloverleaf, Mirth, BizTalk and ebiz2000 to name a few, enabling us to tackle interoperability projects regardless of the incumbent IE.

3 Solutions Through its work with pioneering NHS Trusts, ReStart has developed a number of technology solutions which support its integration focus. Opensource Clinical Portal ReStart Consulting has worked in partnership with Leeds Teaching Hospital NHS Trust to deliver a cutting edge Clinical Portal. The new Open Portal solution provides a single view of patient events and data from key departmental systems sending message requests to systems and leveraging the Trust Integration Engine (TIE) to collect and orchestrate the data. As this solution will be made available as Opensource technology, it represents not only a robust technological solution for supporting the NHS to meet its targets and, because there are no licence charges, it is a more costeffective solution too. The Open Portal solution has a clear UI at an application level and leverages existing frameworks to reduce complexity and risk. What s more, this is a Rich Internet Application (RIA) framework that actually works vendors do not need to configure any of their systems to comply and it has been developed in close partnership towards meeting CUI and ITK standards. Users can access the system via a secure sign-on and are able to view actions from several key existing systems. The Clinical Portal offers a user Dashboard, Patient Search tab and aims to provide a comprehensive view of the Patient Record from multiple existing sources. The Portal works hand in hand with the Trust s existing IE to collate and orchestrate system data. This development confirms the role of ReStart in providing Opensource solutions around leading RIA technologies. Using SOA principles has established a framework which can be deployed under any technical environment. This best of breed approach delivers high performance, easy use and embraces all devices such as the ipad. Any NHS organisation wanting to leverage Opensource will see instant benefits over closed and proprietary applications. The Open Portal solution is available as an Opensource solution and available to any NHS Trust. This provides them with the opportunity to complete the deployment themselves or utilise integration and support services from ReStart Consulting as needed. ReStart MPI The Restart Master Patient Index (MPI) is designed to strip patient data from ADT messages as they pass through the integration layer, and store them on a custom built database that allows quick and simple access to the information by authorised persons within a Trust. Along with the central data repository, the MPI also stores a Golden Record view, where each patient will have a single entry on a table that represents all their most recent information. Aside from the advantages of having a Trust controlled copy of all the patient data, the Restart MPI also provides a complete record of all current admissions to the Trust s hospitals, with easily accessible ward and consultant data that can be extracted and used in reports. As the MPI sits within the integration layer, it can also be modified to send or SMS alerts to the relevant parties should a patient be admitted with particular medical needs. This could be anything from alerting Consultants to the status of one of their listed patients, to ensuring that everyone concerned is aware of a person s list of allergies. Once the database has been populated, the list of possible ways to use the data to improve patient care is almost endless. Services ReStart is committed to providing value-added services to the NHS. Managed Services ReStart Consulting has launched a new 24/7 Managed Service Centre in Exeter and is already supporting a number of NHS Trusts by hosting, managing and maintaining their integration infrastructures. ReStart, who have been providing Managed Services since 2009 has launched the new, bigger service in response to demands driven by its NHS customers. One of the first NHS Trusts to move across to the ReStart Managed Service is Surrey & Sussex Healthcare NHS Trust, who have been recently joined by NHS Tayside and Lewisham Healthcare NHS Trust. Based on secure N3 connections, the ITIL-approved service is supporting a total of 7 NHS Trusts, with several more, currently reviewing the service. The move to 24/7 managed services is supported by the launch of high-availability solutions, which effectively enables mirrored clustering of the integration server, resulting in the system being more aware of its health-state, removing single points of failure and ensuring uninterrupted workflow and increased clinical safety. The ReStart support team currently monitor multiple integration productions in English NHS Trusts and Scottish NHS Boards from one central location using large screen dashboards, notifications and SMS alerts. The ReStart support team operates a highly efficient 24-hour service from its brand new high-tech office in Exeter. Patient Self Check in Kiosk NHS Tayside The work undertaken by ReStart in NHS Tayside will facilitate reusability of the Ensemble productions across NHS Scotland as a whole, maximising our time and cost efficiencies. We also have huge confidence in the validation process, knowing the production service and adaptors running within it are all built to best-of-breed standards, using tried and tested techniques. Finlay Stewart, Head of Development ReStart has developed a self-service check in kiosk for outpatient departments which is designed to improve the patient experience, update and confirm the accuracy of patient data (address, contact details, etc.) as well as streamline operational efficiencies. This is very much in line with the NHS reform plans. The system, which harnesses touch-screen technology, provides patients with multiple language options to search via sex, reference number or date of birth to provide notification of their arrival. The kiosk integrates with the hospital/clinical patient information systems to accurately update patient records, inform staff that patients have arrived on site and also direct patients to the appropriate waiting areas. Furthermore, ReStart has also developed a patient call system to work in conjunction with the kiosk that will display appointment information in the waiting area via a wall-mounted screen.

4 SOA & Data Management Service Oriented Architecture (SOA) is a software architecture where functionality is grouped around business processes and packaged as interoperable services, allowing different applications to exchange data with one another as they participate in business processes. Companies of all sizes need to integrate existing legacy systems in order to implement IT support for business processes that cover all present and prospective systems requirements needed to run the business, end-to-end.to better support the connection of various applications and the sharing of data, a flexible, standardised architecture is required.
