2 TWENTY SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME FROM THE PASTOR To conduct our daily affairs with humility, we must be able to imitate Jesus in his unconditional love for all. As He walked among us, He reached out to all people and through His own passion and death brought us to the glory of resurrection and new life. As a humble servant, Jesus laid down His life for us. We are now invited to lay down our lives, in humility, for God and others. As lyricist John Caird wrote, We must never lose faith; we must never lose hope. God will restore our trust. We might be afraid, but we must be brave enough to love. The act of unconditional love is one of great courage. Unconditional love makes us vulnerable and often leaves us open to being hurt. Yet, love and forgiveness stand as the hallmarks of Christian discipleship. In a world filled with temptation and darkness, we bravely demonstrate that love is our greatest weapon and that love, guided by our faith and hope, is a light to all the world. There is a reason we continue to live and tell the greatest love story ever, the good news of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. We want the same ending for all and we hope all will find that joy and that challenge we find in living and loving Jesus each day. We are His humble, joyful servants. We are not afraid to love. We are not afraid to forgive. We are the ones who tell and live the story. We are the Good News today. 4 TWENTY SECOND SUNDAY IN ORDINARY TIME Lamb of God Chapel at St. Thomas More Perpetual Eucharistic Adoration 24/6 Available Sunday 1pm to Saturday before 4pm Mass Vianney Cenacle 12pm Saturdays: Holy Hour for the Sanctification of Priests Rosary at 12pm weekdays & during Cenacle Chaplet of Divine Mercy at 3pm, Mon-Sat Children s Hour - Tues. at 10am: Nursery and Chapel Nocturnal Adoration-10pm to 6am (scheduled adorers) Over 100 Benefits of Eucharistic Adoration, Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is the best time you will spend on earth! (St. Teresa of Calcutta) 92. Adoration of the Blessed Sacrament is the end of the Church Militant just as adoration of God in His glory is the end of the Church Triumphant. (St. Peter Julian Eymard) 93. We contribute to the radical transformation of the world during our Holy Hour of Eucharistic Adoration. (St. Pope John Paul II) 94. During our Holy Hour before the Most Blessed Sacrament of the altar we contribute to the sowing of the Gospel. (St. Pope John Paul II) 95. Our Holy Hour of Eucharistic adoration acknowledges Christ as the spiritual center of our community. (Pope Paul VI) 96. During our Holy Hour we grow more and more into His likeness. (Venerable Archbishop Fulton Sheen) 97. Eucharistic Adoration will make your soul everlastingly more glorious and beautiful in Heaven. (St. Teresa of Calcutta) Blessed are you Lord God of all creation. This bread and this wine are the work of human hands. (Offertory Prayer at Every Mass) The same criteria should be applied to immigrant workers as to all other workers. The value of work should be measured by the same standard and not according to the difference in nationality, religion or race. (St John Paul II; Encyclical; On the Dignity of Work; 1981; #23) STM Book Discussion Group Where the Crawdads Sing by Delia Owens is the book choice by the STM Book Discussion Group for the Sept. 9, meeting. A North Carolina marsh is the only territory Kia Clark knows and at the age of ten she is completely on her own there. Her parents and siblings have left. Kia has no schooling or income or friends until Tate befriends her and teaches her how to read. She is shunned by the townspeople and is called The Marsh Girl. She does become acquainted with another fellow but when he is found dead, she is charged with his murder. Thus the book is a coming of age story, a mystery, an education about marsh life, and when we enter life at a particular moment in time. Meetings are in the Family Life Center from 10 A.M. until noon the second Monday of the month. All are welcome. Second Collections in September: September 1 st Building fund September 8 th Mission appeal September 15 th Bishop s Education Fund 98. Adoration of the Most Blessed Sacrament, outside of Mass, should go together with worship in Mass so that our love may be complete! (St. Pope John Paul II) 99. A Holy Hour of Adoration in our modern rate race is necessary for authentic prayer. (Venerable Archbishop Fulton Sheen) 100. By being faithful to our Holy Hour, and letting nothing interfere with it, we use it as the sign and symbol of our selfoffering with Christ. (Venerable Archbishop Fulton Sheen) As you are working on your personal schedule for the fall, remember to schedule your weekly holy hour with Jesus. Sign-up sheets and schedules are outside the chapel, or sign up online: stmpgh.org/adoration. TWO S TOGETHER - Pre-preschool program for 2 year olds with an adult (parent, grandparent, nanny).
