Denmark is rated in the international top five as regards higher education, research and development. Denmark was among the first to implement Bologna. 1

You do not necessarily have to learn the local language, though quite a few students do so. Education is free for students from EU / EEA countries (but living expenses are relatively high). Denmark is considered a safe place to be. 5

6 Why is this so? (2) English = international = high quality? Students want to Improve their English in order to have access to the world in general and to improve their employability prospects. Have access to information about the countries of origin of their fellow students. Learn to work and work together across cultural and linguistic borders. International view of issues in their field of study. To be taught by more qualified lecturers. The HEI as a global contact zone is sometimes more ideal than reality. Everyone involved must have or develop the sufficient and necessary language and intercultural communication skills. HEIs must have a language policy for everyone involved: Faculty, lecturers, students, technical / administrative staff. An internationalisation strategy and a language policy must go hand in hand. 6
