2 Local Initiatives Support Corporation (LISC) believes that everyone should have the right to live in a safe, prosperous neighborhood full of opportunities. Since 1981, Boston LISC has been working towards this vision by providing funding, financing, and technical assistance to Community Development Corporations (CDCs), Non-Profit Developers, and Policy & Advocacy Organizations in Greater Boston. With Boston LISC s support, community developers have been able to and will continue to provide affordable housing, spark economic development, and increase access to high-quality education, transportation, and other crucial resources. Our Impact at a Glance Since 1981, Boston LISC Community Investments have: Financed more than 1 million square feet of retail, office and industrial space Provided more than $10 million in operating support and program funding to more than 45 non-profit organizations Financed more than 5,900 affordable homes and apartments, housing approximately 18,000 people Trained more than 420 individuals working at CDCs Placed more than 100 interns and AmeriCorps members at CDCs

Bob Van Meter has served as Executive Director of Boston LISC since March of Previously, he was the Executive Director of the Allston Brighton Community Development Corporation from 1993 until 2008 and a project manager and real estate director at the Fenway Community Development Corporation before that. Bob is a graduate of the University of Chicago and of the Development Training Institute and the Achieving Excellence in Community Development program sponsored by Neighborworks America in partnership with the Kennedy School of Government at Harvard University. Collaborating with the Massachusetts Association of Community Development Corporations to launch the Mel King Institute for Community Building, a training institute designed to address the need individual and sector wide capacity building in the community development field. A Community Safety Initiative Event Offering the Project Manager Seminar to 48 CDC project managers so that they can develop their knowledge of real estate development. Coordinating an AmeriCorps Program that currently supports AmeriCorps members at 10 Boston-area CDCs Supporting 3 neighborhoods through the Community Safety Initiative, a program that gives local residents and police the opportunity to transform their neighborhoods into stronger, healthier places to live and do business. The Boston LISC AmeriCorps Members Launching the CDC Green Retrofit Initiative to help 11 Boston-area CDCs plan and implement green retrofits into existing CDCs housing portfolios.
