2 Club Registration & Ticking Page 2 of 11 THE STARTERS HUT - INTRODUCTION HandicapMaster Early in 2008 the English Golf Union set up a working group made up of representatives from the EGU and the CONGU Licensed Handicap Software Suppliers (ISVs), which including Club Systems International. The ISV s involved in the project represent over 90% of the clubs in England and the group also had the support of most, if not all, of the smaller suppliers. Throughout 2008 the group formulated a technical specification for their Central Database of Handicaps (CDH), which was then handed to Nemisys the EGU s web services provider to build. This was completed and signed off by the working group in December All ISVs have been working on the details of the system and have been testing ready for a full roll out. HandicapMaster development is now completed with 200+ of our client clubs now registered and uploading to the system. 1 st TEE This document is written to serve as a brief introduction to the registration and ticketing system provided by the English Golf Union (EGU) Central Database of Handicaps (CDH) system. 1 CLUB REGISTRATION A club must register with the CDH prior to them gaining access. This process will create their web account and enable the club to send uploads from their handicapping software. 1.1 Registering a club A club must first login to the CDH system prior to them being able to go through the registration process. To allow routing of the club registration to the correct ISV, each ISV has been provided with a login which is to be used clubs for this process. Current club registration login for Club Systems client clubs is as follows: ISV name Username Password HandicapMaster HandicapMasters 0HNP10F The steps to register a club are as follows: 1. Login to CDH using the account details provided above. If this fails then the account may have been locked please see Error! Reference source not found. (Error! Reference source not found.). If you enter a non-unique username an error will be displayed. 7. After this stage a thank you message is displayed and an sent to the approving body (ISV or Golf Union) to approve the request. Until this approval is completed the user and ISV account s won t be activated. Andy Felton 5 21/09/2009

6 Club Registration & Ticking Page 6 of 11 2 APPROVING A REGISTRATION The English Golf Union will approve your request from the club by activating the auto generated support ticket, this may take a few minutes to send and receive the registration confirmation . This will have the clubs chosen username, password and Club Unique I.D number within. Please have this available for reference through the upload process (section 4) and on file for future reference when using of the EGU CDH. 3 HANDICAPMASTER UPLOAD PROCESS 3.1 Confirm System Home Club setting in HandicapMaster In order that HandicapMaster is able to communicate with the server successfully, the HandicapMaster System Home Club must be set to a club with a recognised Club Number on the server. 1. Click File menu, then Options. 2. Click System Home Club button and ensure that the chosen Home club is your club as shown with a Yellow flag and with a 7 digit number listed in the National ID column. Click OK to set the System Home Club. 3.2 Publish to CDH for one or two of your members The service is based on the premise that each player in England will be allocated a 10 digit number. In an innovative approach, the EGU CDH has been designed so that the handicapping software may request these numbers from the CDH and update the local databases, without the need for club secretaries to enter 10 digit numbers for each of their members into their local handicapping software by hand! We recommend that for the first connection, numbers are requested for only one or two members, to ensure the system is operational. 1. Select Edit Member and choose an applicable member to receive the first number. Ensure this player is a Home player. Andy Felton 6 21/09/2009

7 Club Registration & Ticking Page 7 of Click Cards and Lockers tab and tick the Request National ID box. 3. Click OK and answer No to requesting numbers for all remaining members. Notice that in the ALL MEMBERS list, the entry for this player in the National ID column will have changed to Pending. 4. Click the Publish button on the main Toolbar to run the Publish to Internet wizard and click Next. 5. Tick the EGU Central Database of Handicaps box (and optionally Master Scoreboard if you are already using the Master Scoreboard service) and click Next. Andy Felton 7 21/09/2009

Amend the Upload Handicap Records date to the earliest date that you would like handicap records to be available on the CDH (the earliest possible is 1st January 2008). 8. Click Next to initiate the publishing to the EGU CDH. At the end of the process, a report may be viewed. This will detail warnings and errors from the process. Warnings will be issued for every player with a handicap and without a 10 digit number. Andy Felton 8 21/09/2009

9 Club Registration & Ticking Page 9 of 11 The ALL MEMBERS list should display the 10 digit number now allocated to this player Request numbers for remaining Home players. Once you have confidence that the EGU service is operational for your club, you may register the remaining Home club members onto the CDH, and be allocated their 10 digit numbers. 1. Repeat 3.2 above, this time answering YES to the question about requesting numbers for all remaining members. Notice that in the ALL MEMBERS list, the entry for all remaining players (with a current handicap) in the National ID column will have changed to Pending. 2. Before publishing, check that for your Away members, that Pending is not displayed in the All Members List. At the end of the process, a report may be viewed. Note: When allocating the players to the system in bulk, this may take a few minutes to complete. 4 TICKETING SYSTEM The ticketing system is used to communicate issues between customers, the EGU, Handicap software supplier and Nemisys (CDH web host). 4.1 Opening a Ticket A ticket can be opened from the Open New Ticket menu Item under Tickets. 1. The next screen to appear depends on the privileges you have as a logged in user. An Administrator, ISV, Area Authority or National Union can open a ticket on behalf of other parties whereas a club can only raise tickets for themselves.
