2 95 The offers transfer associate degree programs in conjunction with area four-year colleges and universities. Students can choose a general concentration or a more specialized area, such as English literature, history or biology. Courses taken at Owens Community College parallel the freshman and sophomore courses normally found at a four-year college or university. In addition, the complements the College s technical curricula with courses that build the General Education competencies quantitative reasoning, written communication, oral communication, critical thinking, social responsibility and information literacy thus preparing students for an ever-changing world. 3 96 Liberal Arts Liberal Arts includes the humanities, social sciences, fine and performing arts and world languages and provides a basis in exposure and perspective that serves for further study in any discipline.

4 Associate of Arts Degree Associate of Arts General Concentration This concentration is designed to prepare students for transfer to a four-year college or university and is the equivalent of the freshman and sophomore years of a Bachelor of Arts Degree program. For students who do not have a decided interest in one field of study, the concentration provides a broad knowledge of liberal arts. The Weekend College Program is designed for highly motivated students who want face-toface classes leading toward an associate degree that is fully transferable to a four-year college or university. This program allows students to complete either an Associate of Arts General or an Associate of Science General degree on the weekend. The program was designed with the full-time employee in mind, providing students an opportunity to complete an entire degree attending school part time on the weekends. Students can take two classes during the fall, spring and summer semesters and complete a degree in four years.
