1 Orientation and mobility national standard for the low vision clinics in Sweden A national project called Nationella standarder som utvärderingsinstrument för syncentralerna i Sverige (National standards as evaluation instruments for the low vision clinics in Sweden) was conducted between the years 1996 and Its purpose was, amongst other things, to introduce a common method for evaluating rehabilitation efforts and quality development. The method selected was the DySSSy (Dynamic Standard Setting System), which is based on formulating a standard for describing structural, process and result criteria with a specific quality goal in mind. The standard is evaluated according to a given pattern stated in the method. A standard may be local, for one s own operations, or national. A national standard forms a basis for reaching a level that people have agreed should be attained. This standard for orientation and mobility is a national standard, adopted by the Low Vision Clinics Quality Seminar on November 14, It indicates the level that according to a decision by the heads of the low vision clinics in Sweden should be reached to ensure that visually impaired and blind persons receive adequate training in orientation and mobility.
