Emphasis is placed on the biological, sociological and psychological aspects of growth and development. Major topics include personality development, physiology of behavior, childrearing, death and dying. Place in College Curriculum: This course serves as a requirement for several liberal arts and nursing majors and an elective for others as dictated by specific program announcements. Explain three research methods including their limitations. 2. Explain two ethnic problems in social research. 3. Explain the differences between the following theories: Learning, Cognitive, Psychoanalytical and Humanistic. 4. Explain the difference between a gene and a chromosome. 5. Explain the Genetic Abnormalities. 6. Define Gender-Rule Identity. 7. Explain the process of conception. 8. Explain the different family styles i.e. nuclear, extended, step and blended. 9. Explain the sequence of childbirth. 10. Objectives1-9 will be measured by short answers and/or multiple choice exams. Course Performance Objective #2 At the completion of this course the student will be able to describe three major developmental changes that pre-school children undergo. 1.
