1 Application Guide for Doctor of Education (HK) To start your application, please go to Online instructions and help are provided throughout the process, but if you have any problems, please contact us on You do not have to complete your application in one sitting. You can use your username and password to return to your application at any time. However, once submitted you will not be able to make changes to your application information, so please make sure that you review your application thoroughly before you submit. If you do need to update any information after you submit, please contact the Graduate School of Education, University of Bristol 1. Click on Start a New Application and please fill in your FULL NAME (as shown in your HKID / Passport) in the First Given Name row and complete the rest of your personal information as required in the page. Please also create an account for yourself. Choose a username and password for yourself and then click Submit Information 1

3 2. You will be asked to log into your application with the account you have created and accept the terms and conditions. Please click on start your application 3

4 3. Please enter your username and password Enter your username and password 4. Tick the boxes after you have read the relevant sections and then click Continue and Create. 4

5 5. On the next page, click on Start Application 6. Once you have done that, you are ready to start. 5

6 7. To begin, click on Programme Choice from the navigation bar on the left. The following prompts will help you apply for the correct programme. Part-time Second choice of programme Not Applicable At the bottom of each page, press Save & Continue to move forward. 6

7 8. The next screen is Contact Details: Please fill in your FULL NAME (as shown in your HKID / Passport) in the First Given Name row, the Family name / surname and select the Title. You can skip the Educational representatives section and complete the rest of your personal information as required in the page. Press Save & Continue. Remarks: Please ensure the address you provided when you created your profile is up to date, because we will use this to communicate with you about the progress of your application, to provide a decision on your application, 9. The next screen is Personal Details: Complete your personal information. Please note that in the final section, Immigration, you can click No, and ignore the information on Passport details. Press Save & Continue 10. The next screen is Education: Complete as much information as you can about your education, uploading certificates and, and then press Save & Continue Remarks: The file cannot exceed 1000 KB in size and should be in.doc,.wpd,.rtf,.xls,.pdf,.docx,.xlsx or.txt format. 11. The next screen is Employment: Please provide details of your current position held in the Employment 1 section, continuing with any other positions held in reverse chronological order (i.e. most recent first) and then press Save & Continue. 12. The next screen is English Language: Complete as much information as you can and then press Save & Continue. You are expected to meet the University s minimum English Language requirements. * For Applicants whose entrance qualification is obtained from an institution where the medium of instruction is NOT English, proof of proficiency in English will need to be provided. Further details of the requirements can be found in Profile E at the following link The next screen is Funding: Please select who will be paying the tuition fees and press Save & Continue. 14. The next screen is Personal Statement: Please use this section to tell us about your suitability for and interest in the Programme. You will need to write this information in a word document and upload it in this section. Once you have uploaded something, press Save & Continue. 15. The next screen is Research Statement: You do not need to complete this section, please skip this section and press Save & Continue 16. The next screen is Application Information: Please complete as much information as you can and then press Save & Continue 17. The next screen is Diversity Information: Complete as much information as you can and then press Save & Continue 18. Click on Education: Education Management (Hong Kong) MEd and EdD from the navigation bar on the left : Please provide your HKID or passport number and contact numbers and then press Save & Continue 7

8 19. Click on References from the navigation bar on the left 20. You will need to provide at least ONE reference, and it is up to you how you have a choice of how you wish to submit these. There are two sections. If you already have your references in-hand you can upload them in References Section 1. Please update the current status of reference 1 & 2 to Uploaded. 21. If you would like to submit the references by electronic or to follow later, please update the current status of reference 1 & 2 to Electronic or To follow. Then press Save & Continue and you will be taken to References Section 2. 8

9 Remarks: You should change the current status of reference 2 to To Follow even you only got one reference. 22. Click on Referee list as shown in the screen 9

10 23. Click Add a Provider and then add the contact details of your referees 24. If the referee will submit the letter of recommendation online, you should click Yes in the section below their contact details and you must provide their address. Please also notify the individual that he/she will be receiving an from the online application system with the necessary access information. 10

11 25. Click Add Provider once you filled in the required details. 26. Then you will see the screen with your referee s name 27. When you have completed all of these sections, use the Check your application link in the left-hand navigation to ensure you have completed all mandatory questions. Once you have completed all mandatory questions, press Submit Application at the top of the screen. Once submitted you will not be able to make changes to your application information. 11

12 Remarks: Please make sure you had pressed the submit application button and you will get an applicant ID and receive an acknowledgement after the application submission. If you are doubt about the submission status, please to for further checking. 28. If you wish to update your information or provide supporting documents later, you can logout. 29. If you have not submitted your application, you can still update the application and provide information/supporting documents before application submission. Please click on Complete an existing application to complete your application. What happens next? We will check your application, and make sure you are suitable for the course. If there are any questions, we will contact you. Once we have made a decision, we will you, through the online system, to let you know. You can view your decision letter and accept and decline your offer by logging into your application form with the account you created above. 12
