2 THE SCHOOL & THE COMMUNITY Wantagh High School, established in 1956, is a comprehensive public Nassau County, Long Island high school located 25 miles from New York City. Wantagh is a middle/upper-middle class, residential community of business and professional people keenly interested in and supportive of its school system with 3,428 students (K-12). Each of the Wantagh District s five schools has the unique distinction of being certified by the U.S. Department of Education as a National Blue Ribbon School of Excellence. 3 GRADUATION REQUIREMENTS Credits: - A total of 22 credits, including Physical Education each term, are required for all diplomas. Class rank: Beginning with the Class of 2012, Wantagh High School will no longer issue a rank to its students. Transcripts will reflect unweighted final grades in all courses. The transscript will provide both an unweighted average and a weighted average.
