4 INNOVATION FORMS PART OF OUR DNA We are a pioneering company whose main hallmarks are in-house technology and innovation. Ormazabal s history can be written in parallel to the evolution of our technological achievements. A fair reflection of this can be seen in the number of registered patents, some of which have resulted in a revolution of the electrical industry at their time, such as extensible cubicles with GIS technology. This innovative spirit reaches throughout the entire organisation and forms part of the culture of the company. In 1992 Ormazabal developed a revolutionary system to connect gas insulated cubicles, called ormalink. Through the ormalink the connection between two MV cubicles can be performed in record time, without gas handling on-site and with an excellent guarantee of connection. The aim of our Research and Technology Centre (CIT) is to identify, acquire and distribute technologies in process and strategic products within our organisation. This commitment to R+D+I is strengthened by the launch in 2008 of one of the most modern High-Power Laboratory (HPL) in the world. Furthermore, as of 2014 our CIT counts with new capabilities: the demonstration & experimentation unit (UDEX). UDEX s concept consists of a highly configurable medium voltage network independent from the grid which allows the development and testing of new technologies, products & services in a safe and controlled environment.
