1 MS Criminal Justice ( ) Program Information Point of Contact Kim DeTardo Bora Support for University and College Missions Marshall University is a multi campus public university providing innovative undergraduate and graduate education that contributes to the development of society and the individual. The University actively facilitates learning through the preservation, discovery, synthesis, and dissemination of knowledge. University Mission Programs must state their Program Mission and specify how this mission supports both the University's Mission as well as any Mission that the College the Program is housed under happens to have. College Mission Graduate College Mission: The graduate mission of Marshall University is to provide quality educational opportunities at times and places convenient to students, employing alternative delivery systems and rich learning resources. The institution promotes excellence in instruction, research and public service in the interest of enhancing the intellectual, professional, and personal growth of students, faculty, and staff. Throughout the state Marshall University offers master s degrees, postmaster s programs, doctoral degrees and professional development options according to needs and with a minimum of duplication. COS Mission: To graduate students who understand and appreciate the art of scholarship, who have an excellent grasp of the fundamental concepts in their principal areas of study, who are cognizant of the interrelationship of technology and the discovery of new knowledge and who are prepared to provide vision and leadership that combines intellectual inquiry with its application to social needs for the betterment of society. Program Mission The Master of Science Degree in Criminal Justice is designed to provide post baccalaureate education to criminal justice professionals and traditional students that will prepare them for careers, career advancement, and advanced study in criminal justice and criminology. Our faculty assist students to develop, enhance, analyze, and apply the specialized knowledge, analytic, and interpretive skills necessary to evaluate, understand, and resolve complex problems confronting the criminal justice system. Support for College Mission Our mission supports the mission of the Graduate College in that we provide quality education and opportunities to students in order for them to develop personal growth by way of enhancing their intellectual and professional skills.
2 Our mission supports the mission of the College of Science in that we provide students with the analytical and interpretative abilities that allow them to think clearly and independently. With this skill set, our graduate students will be able to make meaningful contributions to society. Support for University Mission Our mission supports the mission of the university in that we prepare students for society, that is, a career in the criminal justice profession, and we facilitate learning and disseminate knowledge through advanced study and provide them with the tools and skills that they will need.
