50p Winter Ightham Mote adventure Mote Road, Ivy Hatch, Sevenoaks, Kent TN15 0NT

Where to begin This pack has ideas of things to do outside as well as some things to complete at home. Note to grown ups: We recommend that all these activities are supervised by an adult. Some ideas have been taken from 50 things to do before you are 11 3/4. To find out more, visit visit/families/50things What you might need: Gloves Pencil Binoculars Bug pot Magnifying glass 50 things scrapbook (free from Visitor Reception) String Ribbon Glue

Estate walks Which you choose is up to you, and by using your imagination, you ll find loads to do. Have a look at the list of 50 things to get some ideas of your own, but we think these walks are perfect for: #31 - Hunt for bugs #28 - Climb a huge hill

Rainbow bingo When we think of winter, we usually just think of white snow, blue skies and not much else but if you Play rainbow bingo and you will start to see the different colours of winter. Tick off each colour as you see them - the first one to get all colours shouts bingo. really look, you will see a rainbow of colours.

Noughts & crosses Who needs a pen and paper to play noughts and crosses? Collect some sticks, long grass, or even find some mud to draw the board. Each player should collect 5 matching things - acorns, twigs, leaves, stones etc. Start playing...

#18 Create wild art Collect different leaves that you can use to make cards. At home: Place the painted side on a piece of paper and press it down. Paint one side of the leaf (you can use one colour or lots of colours). Carefully lift the leaf up and leave the paint to dry. Some leaves look just like Christmas trees - but they make great birthday cards too.

Christmas decorations Decorate the house this Christmas with homemade ornaments - made from things you collect Pinecones look great on the Christmas tree all you need is some thread and ribbon. outside. For the twig Christmas trees, you need glue and a ribbon. You could add felt to turn a pinecone into an owl.

Obstacle course Imagine you are on an obstacle course with log balance beams, tree slaloms, stile climbing frames, acorn shot put, water and mud traps What ideas can you come up with?

#36 Make a home for a wild animal. Some animals, like hedgehogs, hibernate during the winter. This means that they find somewhere warm and dry to go to sleep until spring arrives. Why not make a home for a hedgehog? Lean some sticks against a log. To make it stronger, weave the sticks together. Cover the sticks with smaller sticks, leaves or soil. Close one end off and at the entrance put some leaves. In spring, if you are lucky enough to have hedgehogs in your garden, never feed them bread or milk. If you want to feed them, cat food is best. This is good practice for building dens. Why not use your skills to help an adult build a den and tick off #4 Build a den.

Scavenger hunt How many of these can you spot today? Pinecone Squirrel Berries on a branch 5 different birds Frozen leaf Seed pod Icicles Acorn Leaf still on a tree Pine needles Animal tracks A skeleton leaf Frost 5 different bugs Holly leaves

# 12 Make a trail with sticks Lay a trail of sticks for someone to follow. Think about how long you want your trail to be and gather plenty of sticks! Use sticks that are already on the ground - don t pull them off the trees. Make the trail fun by going over logs and trees. The following signs will help you set your own trail. This way. Message hidden 3 steps right. Wrong way. Danger or warning. End of trail.

Paws to reflect When you get home, pause to think about what you have seen, heard, smelt and touched, as well as what 50 things you have ticked off. Write them on the paw below. I smelt... I touched... I heard... I ticked off these 50 things... I saw... Look out for our spring activity pack, available from 1 March 2016.
