5 Chapter 1 Introduction This is a gigabit network traffic monitor device. It can provide the network utilization information of each user in network. You can set a quota limitation or time limitation for each user. If the limitation is met, this device can stop them or send warning message to administrator. For users not in the monitored list, this device can stop them or send warning message to administrator for security. This device will send a report to administrator about network utilization of each user every day by . Network administrator can use this report to check the network status. If any abnormal network utilization is found, the administrator can check with the user about his/her network operation. Maybe some virus/worm is inside the computer and sending illegal traffic. This is like a network traffic meter to count the network utilization of each user. Because network bandwidth is a resource shared by everyone, the administrator should monitor the network utilization to prevent illegal operation inside the network. This is a solution for such request. Beside network traffic monitor function, QoS function is also supported for each user. Because different users or different applications should have priorities to use network, this device also supports QoS function for each user. 190 users maximum are supported by this device with up to 1000Mbps throughput because of the internal hardware acceleration. The users could be defined by Mac address, IP address, service port or VLAN ID. If the users are defined by VLAN ID, this device can co-work with management switch for some advanced applications. This device provides Web-browser interface for easy management. Telnet, SNMP and console interfaces are also provided. It is easy to install place it between your LAN switch and router and it will do traffic monitoring and QoS job for you after simple configuration. 1.1 Package Contents One Network Traffic Manager device This user manual One AC power Cord One console cable Rack-mount kits and screws 1

6 Chapter 2 Setup Procedure This device is a network traffic monitor solution for user network utilization management. The following steps will help you to install it in short time. A. Hardware Setup 1. Connect the Egress port of this device to the uplink side (LAN port of router or Ethernet port of DSL/Cable modem) of your network. 2. Connect the Ingress port of this device to the downlink side (the uplink connection of your office network hub or switch) of your network. 3. Connect the power cord and the Power LED will be ON. Wait about 1 minute and the device is ready to work. Here is the example for the network connection. B. Enter Configuration Interface After the hardware setup, do the following steps for function configuration. 1. Set up a computer on your LAN with IP xxx (e.g ). 2. Start up the web browser on your configuration computer and point it to You will be asked for user name and password. The default user name and password are admin /

7 3. After login to the device, you will see the home page of the management interface. It contains some information of the device and current software version. C. Configure This Device 1. Click Networking at the menu bar. 1.1 IP Setting You can set the IP configuration for it. You should get it from your network administrator. If the IP configuration of the device is changed, you may also need to change the IP setting of your configuration PC and then you can continue the configuration job. (They have to be in the same subnet.) 1.2 Time Setup There are two options for the system time one is getting time from Time Server in Internet, another is counting time locally. 3

8 If you want to get time from Time Server in Internet, this device should be ready for Internet connection (both network connection and IP configuration) and you should select your Time Zone. If Time Sever is found, its time will be shown in Current Time. You may change the Time Server in the setting. If this device cannot connect to Internet, you can make it count time locally. Set your time manually and this device will count the time Setup This is the address list for this device to send warning message, notice message and daily report. The SMTP Server is the sending server that will forward the to these addresses. You should complete these settings for getting message from this device by e- mail. 1.4 Others Setting This function can bypass DHCP packets for IP configuration request. Even the users are blocked (stop); their DHCP request and response packets will be bypass if this function is enabled. Because DHCP server is often installed in router, this function can keep this device transparent. You can enable/disable this function here. 4

9 2. Click Users at the menu bar. A. Create / Edit a user 1). Create a user You can create a user in two ways a. Click Auto Learning. And this device will show a list of Mac addresses that it learns at Ingress port. You can select the devices that you want to add to User List and click [Apply]. The selected devices will be put into the User List. b. Click User Setup. You can create a user manually. Enter the New Username and click [Create]. A setup screen will be prompted. Fill the configuration of the new user and click [Apply]. This user will be created. 5

10 2). Edit a user You can edit a user in two ways a. Click User Setup. Select the user that you want to edit in Existed User and click [Modify]. The configuration of the user will be shown. You can modify it. Click [Apply] to activate the new settings. b. Click User List. Click the [Edit] button for the user that you want to modify. The configuration of the user will be shown. You can modify it. Click [Apply] to activate the new settings. B. Unknown User Management Unknown users (guest) are those users not in the User List. For any new user come to your network, you could define a policy here. They could be forwarded or stop. If they are forwarded, you can define a quota limit and rate limit for them. Click General Setup. You can define your unknown user policy in Unknown User Management. If any visitor not in your User List comes to your network, this device will follow the policy to manage him/her. C. Daily Refresh Time in General Setup The Refresh Time is for daily applications, e.g. daily quota limit. When the time is met, the quota counting for daily applications will be reset. D. Daily Report in General Setup It is for this device send the daily report . The report contains the network utilization information of each user. If this function is enabled, this device will send daily report by at Daily Refresh Time. 3. Click Traffic Management at the menu bar. A. Rate Limit Definition You can limit the traffic rate of each user by this device. It could be No Limit, Blocked and Defined Rates. Six different rates could be defined here for user rate limit operation. The allowed rate range is 8Kbps ~ 1Gbps. 6

11 B. Priority Operation Definition This device supports four priorities (High, Middle, Low, None) for QoS applications. And it could do rate control for Egress port and the four priorities. You can configure it to allocate bandwidth for different priorities when congestion happens to meet your QoS request. For the details about this function, please refer to the section for it. 4. Click Statistics at the menu bar. You can find the traffic statistics information of users, priorities and connection ports here. 5. Click Administration at the menu bar. A. Change username and password You are suggested to change the username/password to prevent illegal user to enter the administrator interface. Click Admin. Account. Enter the old username/password and new username/password. Click [Apply]. The other functions are used for system maintenance. other sections about the details of them. Please refer to the 7

12 Chapter 3 Web Interface Users can manage the device with Http Web Browser connection. the steps to complete the web interface connection. Please follow 1. Change the IP address of your computer to xxx (e.g ). 2. Start the web browser on your computer and point it to 3. You will be asked for user name and password. 13 3.1 Networking IP Setting Click IP Setting. The following page will appear. It is for IP configuration setup. You can get a network IP configuration from your network administrator. configuration to the page for this device. Fill the LAN IP: this is the IP address of this device. Subnet Mask: this defines the IP subnet of this device. Gateway: this is the IP address of your Internet router for managing this device from Internet. DNS Address: this is the Domain Name Server. It is for Internet site name to IP address mapping. When this device tries to find the Time Server, it will refer to the DNS server. You can provide up to three DNS server address here. If the IP configuration of the device is changed, you may also need to change the IP setting of your configuration PC and then you can continue the configuration job. Note: If you forget the IP configuration of this device, you may push the Reset button on panel for 10 seconds. It will set the IP configuration and username/password to the default factory setting ( , admin/123456). Or, you may check the IP configuration and Http port setting from console interface of the device. Please refer to Chapter 4 about it Time Setup Click Time Setup. The following page will appear. It is for system time setup. 9

14 There are two options for the system time one is getting time from Time Server in Internet, another is counting time locally. If you want to get time from Time Server in Internet, this device should be ready for Internet connection (both network connection and IP configuration) and you should select your Time Zone. If Time Sever is found, its time will be shown in Current Time. You may change the Time Server in the setting. If this device cannot connect to Internet, you can make it count time locally. Set the system time manually and this device will count the time by itself. For the system operation, system time is important for the network traffic manager Setup Click Setup. Some user s quota is exhausted. 2. Some user s time is up. 10

15 3. Some new user is found in the network. 4. Daily report The SMTP server is the server that will forward the from this Network Traffic Manager to those addresses. Network Traffic Manager will send e- mail to this SMTP server and this server will forward these . You should find a SMTP server for this device to send . Mail address 1, 2, 3 are the addresses that this Network Traffic Manager to send for warning, notice and report Auto Ping Setup Click Auto Ping Setup. The following page will appear. You can use this function to monitor other network devices. If any network device is no response to the ping operation for some time interval, this device will send to administrator to warn about it. You can use this function to monitor some important network devices. If any one of them fails to work, you will get a notice by Others Setting Click Others Setting. 16 You can enable/disable DHCP Packets Bypass function here. If it is set to enable, DHCP request and reply packets will be bypass by this device even the user is expired and his traffic is blocked. Because DHCP function is popular and most of DHCP servers are located in routers, the DHCP Packets Bypass function can allow every user get his/her IP configuration. That can make this device transparent. If this function is set to disable, all packets (including DHCP packets) will be blocked if the user is expired. 12

17 3.2 Traffic Management You can define the bandwidth rate limit settings that will be applied for each user and QoS settings for priorities Per-User Rate Limit Definition You can define six different traffic rates for per-user bandwidth rate limit operation. The rate limit is 0 ~ 1Gbps in 8Kbps steps. If 0 is set, all the traffic will be dropped Priority Setting With this function, you can define the QoS operation for different priorities when congestion happens at Egress port. 1. Egress Rate shaping: The rate shaping could be done for priorities or Egress port. You can select one of them for your application. After it is selected, you can define the maximum rate allowed for Egress port or priorities. 13

18 2. Bandwidth Allocation: a. When the rate shaping is selected for Egress port, You can configure the bandwidth allocation for each priority. The High priority could be strict priority or share bandwidth with ratio. If Strict Priority is selected, packets with High priority will always be forwarded first. If WFQ (Weighted Fair Queuing) is selected, packets will be forwarded with the defined ratio when congestion happens. When congestion happens at Egress port, the Weight(%) multiply with the Total Bandwidth is the minimum available bandwidth for each priority. You can modify the setting in Weight(%) for bandwidth allocation when congestion happens. b. When the rate shaping is selected for priorities, You can configure the maximum bandwidth traffic rate for each priority. Note: SP (Strict Priority) is applied for the highest priority only, i.e. any packets in the SP priority will always be forwarded first before the packets in another three priorities. WFQ (Weighted Fair Queue): The available bandwidth will be shared between the priorities with the weighted ratio. Application example: And assign the VoIP/Video conference traffic as High priority. 14

19 3.2 Users This function is the key feature of this device. You can do the follow settings here. 1. Create users list and set their network access limitation by time/quota/ bandwidth. 2. Define the priority for each user for QoS operation. 3. Define the action for each user when their limitation is expired. 4. Define the default limitation and action for new user found in the network User List This is the user list for this device. In this page, you can see the configuration of each user. This device supports up to 190 users. You can use [First], [Priv], [Next], [Last] buttons to change page. You can also enter the page number directly. 1. ID: It is the index for each user in the list. 2. Name: It is the name for the user. That can help you to identify each user. 3. Source: It is the key used to identify each user. It could be by TCP/UDP port number, Mac address, IP address and VLAN ID. 4. Access Time: It is the forwarding/blocking time everyday for the user. If it is forwarding time, the user is allowed for network access in this time period everyday. If it is blocking time, the user is forbidden for network access in this time period everyday. 5. Quota: It is the quota for each user. The quota is the sum of upload and download bytes. It could be defined for daily quota or total quota or No Limit. If it is a daily quota, the quota counting will be reset at the refresh time define in General Setup everyday. 6. Expired Date: It is the time limit for user to access network through this device. If the time is expired, the Network Traffic Manager will manage it with the setting in Action. 7. Action: It is the action for the user if his/her quota is exhausted or time is expired. The action could be stop, stop&notice, warning and ignore. a. Stop: stop the user to access network through this device 15

20 b. S&N(Stop&Notice): stop the user to access network through this device and send a to network administrator c. Warning: send a to network administrator and still allow the user to access network through this device d. Ignore: ignore it and still allow the user to access network through this device 8. Priority: It is the priority of the user for QoS application. The priority could be High, Middle, Low and None. High priority could be a strict priority or sharing bandwidth with ratio. Middle, Low and None will share the rest bandwidth. You can define it in Priority Setting function in Traffic Management page. 9. Rate: This is the bandwidth rate limit for the user. It could be set for Upload and Download traffic separately. It could be No Limit, Blocked, and defined rate. There are six defined rates and you can define them in the Per-User Rate Limit Definition function in Traffic Management page. 10. Edit: You can modify the setting for each user by this function. Click it and the screen will appear. You can edit the settings for the user. Then click [Apply] to activate the new settings. 11. Del: You delete a user by mark the del and click [Apply]. [Create a user] You can create a user in two ways. 16

21 1. Go to Auto Learning page. This device will show the network users that it learns at Ingress port by Mac address. Select the user that you want to add to list and click [Apply]. 2. Go to User Setup page and create a user manually. Please refer to User Setup section for the details of user creating operation. [Delete a user] Marking [Del] and clicking [Apply], you can delete a user in the list. Note: If a user is stop for network access by this device, the user also cannot manage this device from network because he/she is already rejected by the device User Setup This page is for user creating and modification. If you want to create a new user, enter the new user name at [New Username] and click [Create]. If you want to modification the settings for some user, select the user at [Existed User] and click [Modify]. 1. User Name: It is the name for the user. That can help you to identify each user. 17

22 2. User Definition: It is the key used to identify each user. It could be TCP/UDP port number, Mac address, IP address and VLAN ID. Select and enter the content of the key. This device will identify the user by the key that you enter. (You can apply multiple keys to identify one user.) 3. Access Time: It is the network open/close time for the user daily. If it is enabled and Forwarding is selected, the user is allowed for network access in this time period everyday. If it is enabled and Blocked is selected, the user is forbidden for network access in this time period everyday. 4. Usage Quota: It is the quota for each user. The quota is the sum of upload and download bytes. It could be defined for daily quota or total quota or No Limit. If it is a daily quota, the quota counting will be reset at the refresh time define in General Setup everyday. 5. Expired Date: It is the time limit for the user to access network through this device. If the time is expired, the Network Traffic Manager will manage it with the setting in Action. 6. Expired Action: It is the action for the user if his/her quota is exhausted or time is expired. The action could be stop, stop&notice, warning and ignore. a. Stop: stop the user to access network through this device b. Stop&Notice: stop the user to access network through this device and send a to network administrator c. Warning: send a to network administrator and still allow the user to access network through this device d. Ignore: ignore it and still allow the user to access network through this device 7. Priority: It is the priority of the user for QoS application. The priority could be High, Middle, Low and None. High priority could be a strict priority or sharing bandwidth with ratio. Middle, Low and None will share the rest bandwidth. You can define it in Priority Setting function in Traffic Management page. 8. Tx Rate Shaping: This is the upload bandwidth rate limit for the user. It could be No Limit, Blocked, and defined rate. There are six defined rates and you can define them in the Per-User Rate Limit Definition function in Traffic Management page. 9. Rx Rate Shaping: This is the download bandwidth rate limit for the user. It could be No Limit, Blocked, and defined rate. There are six defined rates and you can define them in the Per-User Rate Limit Definition function in Traffic Management page. [Create a user] 1. Enter a name at New Username and click [Create]. 2. Fill the content of the table and click [Apply]. [Modify/Edit a user] 1. Select a user from Existed User and click [Modify]. 2. Modify the content of the table and click [Apply]. [Delete a user] 1. Select a user from Existed User and click [Modify]. 2. Click [Delete] button. 18

23 Note: You can also add users to User List by auto-learning function of this device. You can do it in this way. 1. Click Auto Learning and a Mac address list that this device learns at Ingress port will be shown. 2. Mark Add for the users that you want to add to User List and click [Apply]. 3. Go to User List page. Click [Edit] to edit the content for these new users Auto-Learning This function can help you to create your user list. This device will show a Mac address list that it finds at Ingress port. (Network traffic comes to this device at Ingress port and leaves from Egress port.) You can select the Mac addresses that you want to add to your user list and click [Apply]. Then you can edit these users in User Setup. [Create a user] You can add users to User List by auto-learning function of this device. You can do it in this way. 1. Click Auto Learning and a Mac address list that this device learns at Ingress port will be shown. 2. Mark Add for the users that you want to add to User List and click [Apply]. 3. Go to User List page. Click [Edit] to edit the content for these new users General Setup There are three functions in General Setup. 1. Define the refresh time for daily applications (e.g. daily quota). 2. Enable daily report function. 3. Define the management policy for new visitor coming to your network. 19

24 1. Daily Refresh Time: it is the refresh time for daily applications (e.g. daily quota). The quota counting will be reset that this time every day. It is also the time to send Daily Report if it is enabled. 2. Daily Report: it is for daily report function. This device can send a report about network utilization of every user every day. You can enable this function and the report will be sent at the Daily Refresh Time everyday. 3. Unknown User Management: this is the setting for all new visitors coming to your network. a. Access Time: It is the network open/close time for unknown user everyday. If it is enabled and Forwarding is selected, unknown user is allowed for network access in this time period everyday. If it is enabled and Blocked is selected, unknown user is forbidden for network access in this time period everyday. b. Quota: this is the default quota for all new users coming to your network. c. Action: this is the action when the quota or time for new user is exhausted. The action could be stop, stop&notice, warning and ignore. It is defined in General Setup. 1). Stop: stop the new user to access network through this device 2). Stop&Notice: stop the new user to access network through this device and send to network administrator 3). Warning: send to network administrator and still allow the new user to access network through this device 4). Ignore: ignore it and still allow the new user to access network through this device d. Rate Shaping: this is the maximum bandwidth rate limit for new users. It could be No Limit, Blocked, and defined rate. There are six defined rates and you can define them in the Per-User Rate Limit Definition function in Traffic Management page. 20

25 3.4 Statistics In this function, you can see the statistics information for users, priorities and ports Users Statistics You can find current network utilization status of each user in your network here. Click Users Statistics. The following table will appear. 1. Index: it is the index of the user in the table. 2. Name: it is the name of the user. 3. Daily Rx, Total Rx (Mbyte): it is the daily receiving (download) byte count and total receiving (download) byte count of the user. 4. Daily Tx, Total Tx (Mbyte): it is the daily transmitting (upload) byte count and total transmitting (upload) byte count of the user. 5. Daily Sum, Total Sum (Mbyte): it is the total (download + upload) byte count and total (download + upload) byte count of the user. If the Total Sum number matches the quota setting, this device will execute the action defined in User Setup. 6. Rate (KBps): it is the current receiving and transmitting rates of users. It is counted in byte per second. 7. Max Rate (KBps): it is the maximum receiving and transmitting rates of users. It is counted in byte per second. 8. Status: it is current status of users. It could be Blocking or Forwarding. Blocking means the user is stop for network access through the device. Forwarding means the user is allowed for network access through the device. 9. Clear: click this button can clear the Daily/Total counters for the user. 10. Edit: click this button and you can edit the setting of the user. With the buttons at the bottom, you can change the page. And you can clear all daily counters with [Clear All(D)] button and all total counters with [Clear All(T)] button. 21

26 The default refresh interval of these counters is 10 seconds. You can modify it. Or, you can click the [Refresh] button to refresh these counters immediately. Note: The entry of Unknown Users in Index 191 is for the traffic from those unknown users not in User List Port Statistics This is the traffic statistics of Ingress and Egress ports. Click it and the following table will be shown. The default refresh interval of these counters is 10 seconds. You can modify it. Or, you can click the [Refresh] button to refresh these counters immediately. If you want to clear the counters, click the [Clear All] button Priority Statistics This is for the traffic status of the four priorities. Click it and the following table will be shown. The counters are the transmitting (upload) traffic from the four priorities. From this table, you can know the traffic sharing status between the four priorities. 22

27 The default refresh interval of these counters is 10 seconds. You can modify it. Or, you can click the [Refresh] button to refresh these counters immediately. If you want to clear the counters, click the [Clear All] button. 23

28 3.5 Administration The Administrator contains functions and tools that are used for system and administration maintenance Host Name This is used set the name of this device Port Configuration This is used to configure Ingress and Egress ports connection settings. It is Auto by default. The configuration of ports depends on the auto-negotiation ability of connected device. 1. If the connected device also supports auto-negotiation function, the Auto operation can find the correct connection setting. 2. If the connected device does not support auto-negotiation function, the Auto operation may get wrong connect setting and cause unstable connection. Most of UTP ports supports auto-negotiation ability now. For some special or old devices, you may need to change the port configuration to match with their settings. Link Status: this is current link status of Ingress and Egress port. Auto: this is auto-negotiation ability status of Ingress and Egress port. Disable, the port settings will follow the setting of Speed & Duplex. 24 If it is

29 Speed & Duplex: this is the setting of port when its Auto is disabled. It could be 10Half, 10Full, 100Half, 100Full, 1000Full. (10 means 10Mbps, 100 means 100Mbps, 1000 means 1000Mbps, Full means full duplex, Half means half duplex.) Flow Control: this is current flow control function status of ports. This function will pause the packet sending from the connected device when the internal buffer of the device is full. It should be Off for QoS operation Admin Account You can change the username and password for administrator here. It is admin for username and for password by default. Note: If you forget the username or password, push the Reset button 10 seconds. The username, password and IP configuration will come back to default setting Httpd Setting This function can change the http service port number of this device. It is 80 by default. You can change it for security request. 25

30 If the http service port number is changed, you have to apply it for web access to this device. For example, IP address of this device is and http service port number is You have to apply for web access to this device SNMPd Configuration This function is used to configure the SNMP function of the device. agent function, you can manage this device from NMS station. With SNMP SNMP Protocol: you can enable/disable the SNMP agent function here. Object ID: this is the SNMP object ID number of the device. The ID number is used for SNMP to identify the device. System Up Time: this is the working time from the system boot-up. System Name: this is the SNMP system name of the device. Contact: this is the contact information for the device. Location: this is the location information of the device. GET Communities: this is the community string for SNMP GET command. SET Communities: this is the community string for SNMP SET command. 26

31 Trap IP Address: this is the network stations that this device will send SNMP TRAP. Trap Community Name: this is the community string for SNMP TRAP operation System Restart This function is used to reboot the system. system to reboot. It will take about 40 seconds for the Factory Default This function will reset all the configurations of the device and go back to the factory default settings Backup/Restore Setting 27

32 This function is for system configuration backup and restore. You can backup the system configuration of this device to a file on your PC by the Backup function. You can restore the system configuration of this device from a file on your PC by the Restore function Firmware Update You can update the firmware (software running inside this device) by this function. Select the file that will be used to update the software and click Apply. updating process will start. The Web interface will be closed and system will reboot. It will take about two minutes for the process to complete. Note: Don t Power OFF or reset this device when it is in software updating process. Otherwise, this device can be damaged. 28

33 Chapter 4 Console Interface This device supports a console interface for system configuration. The port marked console is for console interface connection. The console interface is a RS-232 interface. You should have a COM port in your computer and you can connect from your COM port to console port of this device with the console cable. After console cable is connected, start the terminal program (for example, the HyperTerminal program in Microsoft Windows [Start] -> [Program] -> [Accessories] - > [Communication] -> [Hyperterm]). Select the COM port for the console connection and set its settings as Baud Rate: 19200, Data Bit: 8, Parity Check: None, Stop Bit: 1, Flow Control: OFF. Power on this device and the system initialization string will be shown in the terminal window. The initialization process will complete in 30 seconds and it will appear as the following screen Console for Traffic Meter Version: , Date: May :37:14 Press <ENTER> key to start Press Enter key and you will be asked for username and password to login. The device will prompt the command list to help you for console operation. 2. default command This command is used to restore the configuration of this device to factory default settings. >default Warning: Current setting will be lost! 35 6.1 set admin command This command is used to modify the username and password of administrator. You have to enter the old username/password first. And then you can enter the new username and password. 6.2 set httpd command This command is used to enable/disable the web interface and set the web interface service port number. It is Port 80 default for normal web access. If you want to change it for security request, you can use this command to change it. For example, set httpd 8090 will change the web service port of this device to And you have to apply (xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx is the IP address of this device) at web browser for web interface access. Its syntax is >set httpd Syntax: set httpd [enable disable] [port#] Notice: if no port# assigned, it will use 80 as default port#. enable: enable the web interface of this device disable: disable the web interface of this device port#: the web interface service port number of this device 6.3 set idle command This command is used to set the idle time of the console interface. If no any keystroke in the time interval, the device will logout automatically for security. 37 Chapter 5 Reset Button This is a button for hardware reset or configuration restore factory default. The following is the operation of the button. Reboot Push and release immediately. The device will reboot. Restore Configuration Push and hold about 10 seconds, then release. It will cause this device doing restore the following items to factory default settings. 1. IP Configuration (default: ) 2. Username and password (default is admin and ). The other configuration will not be modified. If you forget username, password or IP configuration of this device, you can use this function to restore them to default settings. If you want to restore all the configurations to default factory settings, do it in the software management interface. 33

38 Chapter 6 LED Definition LEDs of this device provide useful information about the device and the status of all individual ports. LED STATUS CONDITION Power ON The device is receiving power. 39 Chapter 7 Applications 1. Network User Management This device is designed to monitor the network utilization of users in network. It provides a simple way to do it by quota, time and bandwidth rate limit. There are so many network applications VoIP, videoconference, P2P, web browsing All of these applications will exhaust your network bandwidth. How to manage them? You can assign different quota and different priorities for different employee on different jobs. If any unreasonable/illegal applications are applied, you can know it because his/her quota will be exhausted soon. If network virus/worm attack, it will consume the quota and will be stop by this device. 2. Security For illegal users come to your network, you will know it and you can define a policy on this device to prevent unknown user use your network bandwidth. 3. QoS You can assign different priorities for different users. For VoIP and videoconference, you can provide High priority for them to prevent interrupt from other network applications. If network traffic congestion happens, this device can provide different bandwidth service for different priorities users. 4.
