16 PROJECT UPDATE & TIMELINE REVISIONS The project timeline has been lengthened and the pace of participation made more realistic for busy volunteers. First phase of development and review has been completed. The second phase of developing 2 prototypes per team has concluded and those two prototypes are being reviewed. Feedback to be distributed to teams on 9/23. Development phase is 2 weeks followed by 2 weeks of review. Total of 6 phases of design with the last phase resulting in one design at the end of December. Construction and beta testing of the final design will be done in January and February.

18 TEAM 1 - CONTINUED Each category is designed to have: Information resources A way for users to post comments to add/remove/update resources A scenario that has the new DE Coordinator use the resources to solve a problem. The solution is posted and the postings from others can be reviewed for ideas. A certificate will be issued upon completion of the following: Reviewing the major resources Posting an answer to all of the scenarios Passing the knowledge test [which can be taken unlimited times to improve score] Next slide has sample checklist for certificate requirements

24 CCC Online Education Initiative RFA (CVC Online Course Exchange) The Online Education System Governed through consortium agreements between colleges Initial focus on Advanced Transfer Degree and other degree related courses. Explore how basic skills and credit by exam may be supported. Integrated technology solution Comprehensive: exploration, registration, articulation, student services and support, quality design, professional development and common technology platform, Goal/Purpose Provide students with opportunities for faster degree completion. Provide effective professional development for faculty looking to teach online. Use a common technology platform to streamline processes, improve access to and success in online courses and reduce the technology learning curve for students, faculty and staff.
25 CCC Online Education Initiative RFA (CVC Online Course Exchange) High Level Procedures / Activities Fiscal Agent Manage the process of developing and supporting consortium level agreements. Collaborate with committees and existing/new statewide projects Including but not limited to the CCC Technology Center Project management activities: Ensure the system meets the needs of students, faculty and staff Collect user requirements Professional development Coordination of implementation activities Manage the process of developing/procuring a common course management system Support / Enhancement Develop effective evaluation metrics

27 CCC Online Education Initiative RFA (CVC Online Course Exchange) Role of the CVC The CVC is the implementation program of the Online Course Exchange component of the Online Education Initiative. Course Exchange Course Requirements All courses in the exchange in the first phase will be a part of an ADT and have a Course Identification (C-ID) Number. Courses taught in the exchange are considered to be courses from the teaching college where the FTES is collected Course Enrollment Any student from a college in the consortia can take a course in the exchange and have the course credits apply to their ADT for graduation and transfer. Academic and Student Support Each course in the Online Course Exchange would be supported by the project in online course orientation, student retention methods, proctoring, tutoring, plagiarism, etc. Students would have to complete an online orientation for distance education course prior to gaining access to the Online Course Exchange.
