Signature of Parent/Guardian Macomb Christian Schools Statement of Beliefs The Bible The Bible, consisting of 66 books, is God s inspired Word, written by men who were moved by the Holy Spirit. The Scriptures are infallible and inerrant in their original manuscripts and authoritative in all matters of which they speak. II Timothy 3:16-17, II Peter 1:21, I Peter 1:23-25, John 17:17 God There is one living and true God, infinite, personal, perfect, all-knowing, all-powerful, ever-present, and eternally existing in three coequal persons: Father, Son, and Holy Spirit. Deuteronomy 4:35 & 39, Matthew 28:18-19, I Corinthians 8:4-6, II Corinthians 13:14, Genesis 1:1, Romans 1:20, Psalms 147:5, Revelation 19:6, Jeremiah 23:24 Jesus Christ Jesus Christ is the Son of God and our Lord and Savior, being absolute Deity and perfect man. He was conceived of the Holy Spirit, born of the Virgin Mary, lived a sinless life, performed miracles, was an infallible teacher and provided salvation through His substitutionary death on the cross and His bodily resurrection. He ascended into heaven and is now at the right hand of the Father interceding for all believers as their High Priest. Luke 1:30-35, Romans 3:22-26, Acts 1:10-11, Philippians 2:5-11 The Holy Spirit The Holy Spirit convicts of sin, bears witness to the Gospel s truth and draws people to the Savior. He regenerates or gives new birth and is the Helper of believers by empowering, teaching, comforting, guiding and producing Christ-like character in them. At regeneration He baptizes the believer into Christ s body and gives him spiritual gifts for ministry. John 14:16-17, Acts 1:8, I Corinthians 12:1-3
4 Creation God created the universe out of nothing. He created and gave life to the original plants and animals in the manner described in Genesis 1-3. (We reject both naturalistic and theistic evolution.) Genesis 1:1-22, John 1:1-14, Colossians 1:12-17, Romans 1:19-20 Man God created man from the dust of the earth in holiness and in His own image. Through Satan s temptation, Adam, the first man, disobeyed God and fell from his sinless state, bringing sin and death to the whole human race and suffering to all creation. Being sinners by nature and choice and without the holiness God requires, man needs to be reconciled to his Creator or suffer the eternal penalty for his sin. Genesis 1:26-30, 3:1-24, Romans 1:19-32, Ephesians 2:1-22 Salvation Salvation comes to man only by God s grace through faith apart from any human effort. God declares all those who put their trust in the Lord Jesus Christ to be justified, righteous, redeemed, and reconciled and gives them eternal life as a free gift. Romans 3:23-25, Ephesians 1:7, 2:8-22 The Church The church is the body of which Christ is the Head and all true believers are members. It is made visible in local congregations of believers who gather in like faith for the purposes of worship, evangelism, edification, fellowship and observance of the ordinances of baptism and the Lord s Supper. Matthew 16:15-19, Acts 2:41-42, Romans 1:7, I Corinthians 1:2, 3:16, Ephesians 1:22-23 The Lord s Return The return of Christ includes both the rapture of the Church and His return to earth from heaven. It will be sudden, visible, personal, with power and great glory according to His promise. He will establish His reign over the earth and judge both the dead and living in righteousness. Unbelievers will be consigned to everlasting punishment and believers will dwell with the Lord forever. I Thessalonians 4:13-5:11, II Thessalonians 1:7-10 Religious Liberty Church and state exist by the will of God, each with distinctive concerns and responsibilities, free from control by the other. Christians should pray for civil leaders and obey and support government in matters not contrary to Scripture. I Corinthians 6:2, Romans 13:1-7, Titus 3:1, Matthew 22:21, I Peter 2:13 Christian Social Responsibility Christians are salt and light in society; opposing all evil; promoting truth, justice, goodness, and peace; aiding the needy; and preserving the dignity of people of all races and conditions. Matthew 5:13-16, I Peter 3:15, Acts 2:42-47, Ephesians 2:10 The Family and Education The family is the basic unit of society and must be preserved in its integrity and stability. Biblical marriage is limited to a covenant relationship between a man and a woman. Parents are responsible for the nurture, instruction, and discipline of their children in the Lord. Ephesians 5:1, 2, 15, Colossians 3:18-21, Proverbs 22:6, II Corinthians 12:14, I Timothy 3:4, Titus 2:4, Proverbs 13:24, I Peter 3:1-7, Genesis 2:23-24 Your signature indicates your consent and approval that the Macomb Christian Schools Statement of Beliefs is the foundation of Macomb Christian Schools biblical teaching and that your child will be taught accordingly. 8 MACOMB CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS PARENT AGREEMENT (Please read carefully before signing.) 1. We, as parents, desire a Christian education where character, values, and academics are taught from a Biblical worldview. 2. We agree to support the school with our prayers and with a positive attitude. Complaints or negative comments will be shared only with the teachers, administrator, or person involved and not with my child or other people, following the Matthew 18 principle. 3. We understand that if at any time the school determines, in its sole discretion, that our actions do not support the ministry, or reflect the lack of cooperation and commitment to the home and school working together, the school has the right to request the withdrawal or refuse the re-enrollment of our child(ren). 4. We hereby invest authority in the school and its authorities to discipline our child as necessary. We further agree to cooperate by disciplining our student in the home. 5. We understand that the school reserves the right to refuse enrollment, exclude, or expel any student who does not cooperate with the total educational process. 6. We understand that the standards of Macomb Christian Schools do not tolerate profanity, disrespect to school personnel, immorality, or any conduct that will dishonor God or His Word. (Macomb Christian Schools definition of sexual immorality includes heterosexual premarital sex, any student professing to be homosexual/bisexual, or is a practicing homosexual/bisexual, as well as any student who condones, supports, or otherwise promotes such practices either physically, simulated, virtually or electronically.) (Leviticus 20:13, Romans 1:27; Ephesians 5:3-4) 7. We understand that students will be subject to discipline or dismissal if during off school hours they engage in conduct that violates Biblical principles, is dishonoring to God, or casts a poor reflection on the name and reputation of Macomb Christian Schools. 8. We understand that because the Bible states that disputes among believers shall be handled within the church and not in the secular courts (1 Corinthians 6:1-8), we hereby agree that all of our family member s disputes involving or affecting Macomb Christian Schools shall be settled privately, or, if necessary, in accordance with the mediation or binding arbitration rules of either the Institute for Christian Conciliation or the American Arbitration Association. We agree that mediation or binding arbitration shall be the sole and exclusive remedies for any controversy or claim arising out of or affecting our family s relationship with Macomb Christian Schools. We understand that an arbitration award may be enforced, if necessary, in a civil court. 9. We pledge to pay our financial obligations to the school regularly and on time and understand that late fees will be assessed on any balance that is delinquent. We also understand that assessments will be made if our student is responsible for damage to any school property or the property at any school related event. We understand that no transcripts of grades or report card will be released to us or subsequent institutions until all dues, fees and/or fines are paid (this includes library fines, book, athletic and lab fees) and all school texts, athletic equipment, and other school-owned property is returned. We understand that delinquent accounts may also lose access to grades and related information on the website. 10. We understand that when a student withdraws, is excluded, or expelled, the current month s charges are due and payable and will not be refunded. 11. We agree to support the high academic standards of the school by encouraging our student to complete homework and assignments and by providing a quiet place for our student to study. 12. We understand that it is our obligation to ensure that our students arrive to school on time each day. We further understand that it is our responsibility to see regular attendance is maintained and that absences in grades 7-12 in excess of 12 days in a semester (without a written doctor s excuse) will result in failure for the semester. 13. We understand that the school encourages weekly church attendance for all students and their families. 14. 9 MACOMB CHRISTIAN SCHOOLS STUDENT AGREEMENT (Please read carefully before signing.) 1. I promise to actively seek, to grow as a Christian and to become like Jesus Christ in word, in deed, and in thought. To that end I will read my Bible faithfully, pray regularly, and strive to faithfully attend my local church (Colossian 1:10). 2. I promise to willingly abide by the school s regulations, guidelines, dress code, and standards as stated in the Parent/Student Handbooks. I will bring any questions I have to the administration or faculty because I know that complaining is not the proper way to respond (Matthew 18). 3. I will do my best to work up to my ability as a student and will maintain a cheerful, cooperative attitude while a student at Macomb Christian Schools (Colossians 3:17). The faculty will receive my respect and obedience at all times. 4. I promise to lead a life consistent unto the Lord both at school and away from school (I Corinthians 10:31). My promise includes abstaining from smoking, drinking any alcoholic beverage, using or possessing drugs, profanity, sexual misconduct, or doing anything that would hinder or ruin my testimony in Christ or that would harm the Christian testimony of the school. (I Corinthians 6:18-20) 5. I will respect, honor and obey all adults in authority at the school as they strive to follow Godly principles (Romans 13:2). Moreover, I will strive to be kind, tenderhearted, and forgiving toward all students with the goal of helping and building them up in the Lord. I will guard my mouth so as not to wound another student s spirit with negative talk, will speak well of other students, will praise good qualities in them, will not expose other s weaknesses (unless that weakness is in violation of this student pledge), and I will strive to demonstrate Christ-like love to my classmate. (Ephesians 4:31-32) 6. I will support in actions and spirit the goals of Macomb Christian Schools and to cooperate fully with the administration and faculty (Romans 13:2). I will avoid close friendships outside school that would encourage me to disobey the Lord, my parents, or the school guidelines. 7. I understand that my failure to follow both the specific guidelines listed in this pledge and the spirit behind the pledge will be a serious matter to the administration of Macomb Christian Schools which may result in dismissal from the school. I understand that attending Macomb Christian Schools is a privilege, not a right, and that the administration may deny my enrollment if they feel my spirit or influence is a detriment to the spiritual well-being of the school. If a student at Macomb Christian Schools, would you uphold these high expectations? 18. Will you faithfully abide by the policies that govern the lifestyle of our students as briefly summarized below? Macomb Christian Schools has as its foundation the goal of presenting a Christian educational program to our students and a Christ-like model to the community. In light of these goals, lifestyle is an important consideration. With this in mind, along with the scriptural guidelines of liberty found in I Corinthians 8-10 and Romans 14, the school unashamedly states its opposition to non-christian lifestyles, immorality and the use of alcohol, tobacco and drug related substances both on and off school property. A Christian lifestyle cannot simply confine itself to the school day. It must be a life's belief and practice. The school will not hesitate to assert its discipline in areas where a student practices a lifestyle or engages in activities antagonistic to the policies, goals and character of the school, regardless of where the event occurs. The school also applies this standard in simulated, virtual, and electronic situations. Please be advised that if a student engages in compromising activities on or off campus, the school, with the endorsement of the Macomb Christian Board and Administration, will take disciplinary action. Should the students' beliefs and lifestyle give consent to the activities outside the lifestyle expected by the school, it is best that they reconsider their affiliation with Macomb Christian Schools. 19. In one or more paragraphs, please explain why you desire to be a student at Macomb Christian Schools.
13 20. In one or more paragraphs, please describe your personal relationship with Jesus Christ.
