India now forms a fifth node of EMC s worldwide Innovation Network, which has existing initiatives in the United States, China, Ireland, Russia, Israel, Egypt, and Brazil. EMC has begun its University Collaboration program with the prestigious Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore (IISc) and Amrita University, Coimbatore. EMC will work with IISc specifically on the analysis o unstructured data, concerned with the discovery of patterns and trends in large data sets; and with Amri University on information security. These are the first two universities in India to be part of EMC collaboration research efforts and the EMC Innovation Network. They join global esteemed institutions su as the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (MIT), Carnegie Mellon University (CMU), Peking University and other universities at EMC s world-wide locations. IISc and Amrita University were identified on the basis of their commitment to research, quality of techni

EMC s India COE will establish deep collaboration efforts with both institutes w the sole purpose of innovating new solutions for emerging challenges. Founded in 2007, the EMC Innovation Network is the company's global research and innovation collaboration, connecting advanced technology researchers with university and industry partners, includin startup companies, from around the world. Following its mission statement to, "Expand knowledge locally Transfer it globally and Leverage it strategically," the network builds fruitful collaborations between EMC's R&D operations and the technology communities in each region. By bringing together talent from outside the company, EMC is expanding its knowledge in strategic areas of technology through a continua exchange of information. EMC aims to extend its research collaboration in India considerably, and establish strong engagements w Indian technical institutes that offer subject matter expertise and deep technical know-how on infrastructure technologies. Commenting on the announcement, Niranjan Thirumale, Chief Technology Officer, EMC India Center of Excellence said, Universities offer an unparalleled environment for deep thought and unconstrained, breakthrough research. They play a key role for technology companies committed to innovation such as EMC. The EMC India COE has evolved into a true center of excellence and through University Collaborat it is now deepening its engagement in India further. The university research started at IISc and Amrita University are squarely focused in areas of critical importance to EMC: security and analytics.
