3 The success of the City s efforts to reduce GHG emissions to date has provided the municipality with evidence that these programs have recognizable impacts. The logical next step for the City is the adoption of an emissions reduction target and action plan. 3

10 What we can control Landfill Gas-to-Energy Project: 30-50,000 MTCO 2 e annually (peaked 1997) Recycling/Composting: 44,000+ MTCO2e annually get Downtown Program: MTCO 2 e annually Biodiesel in City Vehicles: 390+ MTCO 2 e annually Downtown LEDs: 300+ MTCO 2 e annually DTE fuel mix Less control over Resident and Business Energy Use (but we are trying w/ PACE) So why bother with a Climate Action Plan? Municipal Operations account for 3% of community-wide energy 10
