Complex and non-compatible systems for revenue management makes introduction of new services a costly and time-consuming experience. The Convergent Charging & Billing Solution Overview course provides the participants with a general technical knowledge of the Convergent Charging Solution. The course describes its key drivers, benefits and architectural structure. All in all, Convergent Charging handles end-to-end revenue management processes which will be the cornerstone of successful business for the operator. 8 Charging System 3.0 Tariff Handling for the Convergent Charging Solution Description LZU R1A Operators must charge their subscribers in a clear and open fashion while also ensuring there is no revenue leakage. Also with new features and functionality charging has become a very complex process. Convergent Charging offers the operators a rating engine that rated all pre and post paid events. In the Service Data Point there are a number or rating structures and service classes that make convergent charging possible. The course teaches students to design, test and activate selection structures for realtime rating of all calls in the network regardless of whether the subscriber is pre or postpaid. 11 Charging System (CS) 3.0 System Administration Description LZU R4B Operators must ensure that their Charging System is running as efficiently as possible and that there is no network downtime. The course teaches the participants how to administer, operate & maintain the Charging System. It is an instructor-lead-training (ILT) course for the MINSAT, AIR Server, Voucher Server and SDP systems. Participants will be shown how to complete daily routine tasks on the servers to ensure the smooth running of the Charging System. They will also learn how to configure all the servers to deliver the best service possible to customers. This will ensure the best possible service for the operator and hence the end customer. Learning objectives On completion of this course the participants will be able to: 1 Describe the hardware architecture of the Charging System 3.0 CP6 network as outlined in the CPI documentation. 2 Describe the key features and functions of each node 3 List the nodes and their software components 4 List the new operations and maintenance functions and changes to existing functions. 5 List the system administration tasks (for example: start, stop and check the status of the nodes). 6 Describe the naming, location, structure and handling of the node log files. 7 Configure all nodes to provide the service

The Charging Control layer takes care of real-time rating and balance management, whereas the Business Horizontal layer is the master of customer and contract data, billing and financial handling. Customer Center (CX) is an application in the Business Horizontal layer providing a comprehensive, web-based customer care functionality. This seminar provides detailed information about the relevant processes and functions related to customer and contract maintenance. Participants will learn how to introduce a new customer and contract into the system. This includes also the handling of large account hierarchies. The Charging Control layer takes care of real-time rating and balance management, whereas the Business Horizontal layer is the master of customer and contract data, billing and financial handling. Resource Administration (RA) is an online application in the Business Horozontal layer used to create and maintain resources. GSM resources comprise storage media like SIM cards, ports like IMSI s, and directory numbers like the MSIDN. The participants get to know the different workflows around resources. They will learn how to order resources from vendors and how to create resources. The course teaches also the different steps that are needed to create pre-activated-contracts. 23 LHS: Maintenance of Products TA-2INE13 Description The Telco-based convergence solution consists of a Business Horizontal layer and a Charging Control layer. The Charging Control layer takes care of real-time rating and balance management, whereas the Business Horizontal layer is the master of customer and contract data, billing and financial handling. In the Telco-based convergence solution products have to be maintained in the Business Horizontal layer and in the Charging Control layer. The task of the application Product Center (PX) is to create and maintain products in the Business Horizontal layer. Products are defined in Rate Plans which are used for contract creation in the web-application Customer Center (CX). How are products created and configured? What are the principles and concepts of products in the Business Horizontal layer? The participants will understand the structure of Rate Plans and how to create Rate Plans. The attendees will also get to know the different types of services that can be added to Rate Plans and how to configure these services. In this course the participants will learn how different details during Rate Plan creation have effect on the parameters in the contract creation. The Charging Control layer takes care of real-time rating and balance management, whereas the Business Horizontal layer is the master of customer and contract data, billing and financial handling. In the Business Horizontal layer different discounts can be created and maintained. The participants will learn the general pricniples around discounts in the Business Horizontal layer as well as the specific concept of Free Units and Promotions. Different use cases will help the participants to learn how to create these discount related funtionalities. The participants will also learn how to maintain the discount features using the webapplication Customer Center (CX), how to assign promotions and free units and how to work with Friends and Family (FaF) numbers. Both layers have a close relationship to each other. Different interfaces are used to exchange information between the layers. Information can be balance change information, subscription changes, and also information on the rated call/event. Several back-end applications of the Business Horizontal layer are evaluating and enriching this information in a process called message processing. This course discusses the different impacts of message processing in the Business Horizontal layer. How are messages transferred from the Charging Control layer to the Business Horizontal layer? How are they processed in the Business Horizontal layer? The course gives a general overview of the back-end processes in the Business Horizontal layer. How are rated calls stored in the database? What are the preliminary procedures to be considered? The participants will learn the most important configuration steps for the message processing part of the Business Horizontal layer.
