17 Preface This IBM Redbook helps you understand backup, recovery, high availability, business continuity strategies, and options available for IBM DB2 Content Manager OnDemand for Multiplatforms, IBM Eserver iseries, and z/os. In Part 1 of the redbook, we introduce the basic concepts of backup and recovery, high availability, disaster recovery, and business continuity. In addition, we provide an overview of IBM DB2 Content Manager OnDemand. In Part 2, we focus on OnDemand for multiplatforms. We describe the backup and recovery strategies and options, and high availability and business continuity strategies and options for OnDemand on Multiplatforms. We provide practical procedures and steps to accomplish the backup, recovery, and high availability with sample commands and scripts. In addition, two case studies are presented to show you how real-world businesses implement backup procedures, high availability configurations, and disaster recovery plans. In Part 3, we focus on OnDemand for iseries. We provide an introduction to the overall iseries architecture and an overview of OnDemand for iseries. In addition, we discuss backup and recovery strategies, and introduce some high availability options and strategies to assist you in selecting an appropriate solution to satisfy your business requirements and to suit your operating environment. In Part 4, we focus on OnDemand for z/os. We begin with an overview of OnDemand for z/os. We discuss the backup and recovery strategies and options, and describe different options performing backup and recovery of OnDemand for z/os systems.
