6 Section I (Student Learning Assessment) of the Outcomes Assessment Results form must be completed for each business program that is accredited by the IACBE (i.e., a separate table must be provided for each program). Performance targets/criteria are the criteria used by the academic business unit in evaluating assessment results to determine whether intended outcomes have been achieved. For example, if the academic business unit is using the ETS Major Field Test as one of its direct measures of student learning, then a performance target might be that the Institutional Mean Total Score on the exam will place students in the upper quartile nationally; or if the academic business unit is using a comprehensive project in a capstone course as a direct measure of student learning, then a performance target might be that 80% of the students will score at the highest level (e.g., proficient, exemplary, etc.) on each project evaluation criterion. Remember that your outcomes assessment plan needs to include two or more direct and two or more indirect measures of student learning. These measures should be used at the program level. At the bottom of each section of the form, space is provided to identify changes and improvements that you plan to make as a result of your assessment activity. Italicized entries in the form represent areas where the academic business unit should insert its own assessment information. Add tables and insert rows in the tables as needed. 7 Winter Program 2013 The Winter Program 2013 was planned for January 2013, with 3 courses offered (Business Finance 1, Global Marketing & Managerial Accounting). All these classes tend to be big classes during the semester (35-40 students) and the weaker elements do not always get the attention they need from the instructors. The January classes tend to be smaller and allow for more student-teacher interaction. Summer Program 2013 In partnership with the University of Hawai i at Manoa The American Business School of Paris set up its 7 th Summer Program from June 3-July 11. There were 99 students dispatched among 9 courses. Online Pre-Registration Platform Starting from the Fall 2012, all American Business School students (degree seeking & Exchange/Study abroad) have access to the online course pre-registration platform. This autonomous approach in the pedagogy is based on the Dean s continuous coaching of the students through the Academic Road Map that they have to fill in every semester & session, in order to earn the 138 Academic credits requested to get the BBA (120 credits for the new students admitted in the 1st year). The student course selection is validated by the Dean. New Curriculum Committee A new Curriculum Committee was set up in February 2013 in order to examine with the Dean the Academic affairs connected to the BBA program. The members are: Mrs. Rany Patout, coordinator of the Management courses Dr. May Collins, coordinator of the Finance & Economics courses Danny Rukavina, coordinator of the Humanities courses Baber Mirza, coordinator of the Marketing courses Internship Reports hodology and Correction The Advanced Critical Thinking Instructor, Ms. Johanna Lévy, was in charge of the internship report corrections. The students who have weaknesses in writing skills, according to the results, had to be registered in the writing skills seminar given by Ms. Lévy in April 2013 (12 hours). Based on the instructors observations during the students presentations and the report corrections, Mr. Danny Rukavina was in charge of preparing a document which serves as guidelines for the professors to integrate in their courses rubrics evaluating the students writing and analytical skills. 8 Online Internship s (Practicum) tutoring Starting from the Spring 2013, the students who are doing the 6 months internship at the end of their studies are tutored pedagogically during the whole period of their practicum by an American Business School instructor. This tutoring is based on an online Moodle platform. The students have to submit a report every month on the platform, respecting the deadline and the guidelines communicated by the tutor. The student can present the report before the jury by the end of the 4 th month internship if the tutor approves the final report. Two juries per year to validate the issuing of degrees Starting from 2013, the American Business School decided to have two panels per year to validate the issuing of degrees : July 15 th and December 15 th. The next Commencement Ceremony is set for March 24 th, Mid-term teaching & teachers evaluation Starting from the Fall 2012, the teachers were required to carry out a mid-term course evaluation regarding the feedback and the observations of the students. This process facilitates the adjustment, adaptation or any modification based on relevant observations from the students. The administration does not intervene in this process. The intructor distributes by the end of the 3 rd or 4 th week a questionnaire and collects it. The professor takes into consideration the relevant observations by adapting his course to the students profiles. Change of the MA name: Master of Science in Entrepreneurship & International Business Development Starting from , the MA program, which is accredited by IACBE, became the MSc in Entrepreneurship & International Business Development. The changes in the program were not fundamental. But we have mutualized with the IGS Group Business Schools by sharing some of the core courses: Web Marketing & Ecommerce, International Law, Advanced International Finance, Advanced International Economics, International Human Resources, Intercultural Management & Strategic Management. The concentration courses in Entrepreneurship and IBD were taught by the American Business School professors and exclusively to our students. The Check-points were fundamentally covering the whole business plan: Marketing, Finance, Strategic and the final deliverable project. IGS Group Business Game in December 2012 Starting from December 2012, the inter-school Business Game organized for all the 4 th and 5 th year students of all the IGS schools on the Parodi Campus will replace the online comprehensive test. In the last 2 years, the IGS group has experimented with a 3-day inter-school business game. In December 2010 the Business Game took place during the American Business School final exam IACBE Annual Report Form 8

9 week. All the Senior Year degree-seeking students and the MSc students had to participate. There were 300 students from 7 different IGS schools participating. Unfortunately, the case was in French. Some of the non-french students at the American Business School did not have the required level of French. Most of the students from the other IGS schools did not have the required level of English to communicate with the non French-speaking American Business School students. Despite these issues, the 3-day Business Game experience was considered successful after the debriefing with the different school directors. In December 2012, the Business Game took place earlier in the month of December, and there were 250 students from 7 IGS schools, all in 4th & 5th year of their programs. This time half the groups were English-speaking. The teams were made up of students from different schools. There were 2 different cases one in English and one in French. The American Business School students were much more satisfied by the experience. Each student had to sign the class rosters, and the overall results of each team were graded. The students received one academic credit & a grade which were incorporated into their transcript. The rubric which was the basis of their grades is in the appendices. IACBE Annual Report Form 9
