Library Fee from the University Service Fee represents the same percentage of the University as in previous years when it was labeled the Library Access Fee, with only a few differences in administrative procedures. The goal will be to justify and advocate to administration to raise these fees, perhaps even double them. With all of the approvals and passing through the Board of Regents, this will be easier said than done. Printing - We have ScannX scanner we encourage students to utilize - they can back up on smartphone, thumb drive, or . I don't know about our online students, but everyone else pays a "student services fee" of $245 a semester to cover printing, student activities, and "related costs." Students get 500 "copies" a semester, but if they run out they can have IT reload 100 more with just a phone call or online survey in which they help IT determine why they need more. No charge for the original amount (other than the fee) and no cost for additional loadings at this time. Dallas Baptist University 10 /page No Printing - Print management is handled by the IT department East Texas Baptist University Students are allowed "free" copies at the beginning of each semester (250 for undergrad, 500 for grad). When those are used up the students may purchase additional print pages for $0.05 per page. The amount per Yes - "home-grown purchase for color pages is five system" (campus-wide) times as much as black and white, or $0.25 per page - they don't actually "buy" color copies, they just know that 5 pages will be deducted from their print account for every one color page printed. Printing - We have found that once we put a limit on "free" printing our costs have remained fairly stable. Few students go over their original print allocation. Hardin-Simmons University Students pay a technology fee that No covers printing Page 5

Students still print despite having access to saving and sending to their own accts. St. Philip's College - Color copies are 50. Fees: St. Philip's College - Library fees are part of "Student Fees", and not separate. Angelina College 10 B&W; 25 color No Printing - While the library has lobbied hard for the last five years for a cost recovery print management system - oddly we have not yet adopted one. It is something that does not directly seem to affect enrollment nor administration and so print management remains low on the priority list. Of course all copying numbers are declining across campus at an alarming rate for a variety of reasons which will probably seriously mitigate the need for a print management system in a few years anyway. Austin Community College No cost (10 at Pinnacle) No Blinn College Library 7 B&W; 50 color Printing - Students receive $15.00 print credit per semester. They can add to their accounts as needed. Brazosport College 10 B&W; 25 color No Printing - I am not fond of charging for printing, dealing with money, some students walking out without paying, etc. Students can print for free in other labs across campus, but they must use their own computer paper. Central Texas College 25 B&W Printing - The college raised the price of printing last year from $0.10 to $0.25 and we saw a dramatic decrease in printing. El Centro - 50 color printing; We're in the process of implementing credit card payment Mountain View - 75 color printing North Lake - 5 B&W Del Mar College Students are allowed to print 50 pages per day for free in the Library. Five pages of color copies are free, then it's $0.50/page (every day) No Printing - We are talking about implementing a print management system for the library to allow the computer to do the policing/counting. It is difficult for us to identify non-students who are not supposed to print, or who have a designated printer and are charged for their copies. It does not appear that the College as a whole is interested in a print management system; most departments send their students to the library to print. El Paso Community College Frank Phillips College 5 B&W No Galveston College 10 B&W Printing - Copies printed to a printer from the computers are free. There is a limit of 25 copies per day (one side) and 35 (two-sided) Grayson College 10 B&W Yes (library Hill College Yes - $1/SCH $ 82,000 $ 82,000 24% 10 B&W Houston Community College 10 B&W; 50 color Yes - GoPrint (campuswide) Yes - Eagle Print (campus-wide) Printing - Students are given 200 free copies each semester. At present we do not charge over the 500 sheet credit but we do monitor students send notices to them as they approach the end of their 500 allotment. The use of PaperCut has reduced paper costs. 10 Lone Star College System 10 B&W; 50 color McLennan Community College 8 B&W; 39 color Midland College Navarro College Printing - We moved to the new print system for two main reasons: the ability to print from mobile devices and having a web based application that did not require a software download onto local machines. These cards are not refillable but our students seem to really appreciate not having to use a credit card. South Plains College Southwest Texas Junior College 10 B&W; 30 color No Printing - Trying to implement Active Directory and we are having printing issues. Tarrant County College District Northeast - 10 B&W; 75 color Northwest - No cost South - 10 B&W Southeast - 5 B&W Trinity River - First 10 per day free; afterwards 10 per page Northeast - Yes - Print Manager Pro (library Northwest - No South - No Southeast - Yes - Printing - We are currently looking at going to a district wide cloud Software Shelf Print based system. The monies are not carried over from semester to semester. Trinity Valley Community College 10 B&W No Tyler Junior College 10 B&W; 75 color Texas Southmost College Yes - switching over to PaperCut now (library Printing - PaperCut is Library Only at this point but the plan is to have print stations located across campus. Vernon College No cost No Victoria College Students: 5 B&W - 10 color Public: 10 B&W; 25 color Yes - PC Cop (CMS Diginet) - library only Printing - Printing & photocopy fees go to the General Fund Weatherford College 10 B&W; 15 color Printing - At the moment, students must come to the Circulation Desk where a library employee verifies the number of pages in the print job(s), releases the job(s), and takes the money. We are working with IT and our Business Office to fully implement PaperCut so that students login at a large multi-function printer, see their print job(s) and do the release themselves. Our Business Office wants to minimize the amount of cash handling on campus, and I am looking forward to removing that liability from my staff.
