2 Georgia Work Ready Program Concern regarding the quality and skill of Georgia s workforce pipeline to fill future jobs Governor Sonny Perdue, in partnership with the Georgia Chamber of Commerce, launched an initiative to certify that job seekers are work ready through the creation of Georgia s Work Ready Certificate Effort coordinated by the Governor s Office of Workforce Development 1
3 Purpose Georgia Work Ready Program Provide employers skilled workers Job seekers an opportunity to enhance their employability by obtaining a work ready credential that is transferable and transportable Provide industry clusters a pipeline of trainable workers who possess the foundation skills necessary to train on-the-job for technical occupations 2

6 Work Ready Service Delivery Statewide Initiative begun in Project is led by the Governor s Office of Workforce Development Options for business community to give Work Ready assessments and for any Georgia resident to take the assessments At the technical college Georgia Office of Workforce Development directly pays technical colleges for Georgia Work Ready assessment service delivery 5
7 Adult Education Role Adult Education students encouraged to obtain Work Ready Certificates at the appropriate instructional level Skills gap training provided through Adult Education for its Students All Georgia Residents can do Work Keys Assessments for a small charge through local Technical Colleges 6

9 Georgia Work Ready Program Georgia s Adult Education Programs Provided with Gap Training Software WIN KeyTrain Professional Development provided for Adult Education faculty through GOWD Georgia s Goal is the Gold Level High School Seniors encouraged to obtain Work Ready Credential Special Incentive Program for Job Seekers to Obtain Work Ready Credential at the Gold Level ($200 Visa gift card to Offset Job Seeking Expenses) 8
10 Georgia Work Ready Program Job profiles, additional assessments and skills gap training Conduct job profiles to determine all assessments required Use Work Ready Certification to assess three core skills Applied math, reading for information, locating information Use additional assessments to determine additional skill levels Skills gap training available for all nine areas Funds may be used to pay for additional assessments and instructor led skills gap training Technical Colleges provide all services 9
