The program provides the opportunity for advanced study of the disciplines of environmental law, policy, and science, and prepares you for key leadership roles in the public, nonprofit, and private sectors. 2 Take up to 12 credits on campus in the renowned environmental Summer Session or choose your electives from two online concentrations: Climate Change Law and Policy or Energy Law and Policy Climate Change Law and Policy: Students will examine the science, policy, international politics, and legal tools currently available and under consideration targeted at abating, mitigating, and adapting natural and political systems to the effects of climate change. Designed and taught by leaders in the field, this four- course sequence will enable students to understand and participate in high- level climate change discussions at the local, state, and national level and to participate in policy creation at the local, state, and national regulatory level through work within agencies or advocacy. Students will examine the U.S. and international energy generation, delivery, and market system, and understand the regulatory and practical implications of energy policy change. Graduates will be well prepared to play a strong role with an energy commission and related regulatory organizations, or an advocacy group focusing on these issues.
