1 Community Health Alliance Job Description -- Nurse Manager Community Health Alliance is looking for a Nurse Manager. Community Health Alliance is a non-profit, federally qualified health center focused on community health in areas of provider shortages in Reno, NV. Our clinical staff is eligible for loan re-payment through the National Health Service Corp Nurse Corp. Quarterly bonus and CME reimbursement of up to $1800 and 40 hours per year. RN Nurse Manager Direct Supervisor(s): Chief Medical Officer Direct Reports: Staff RNs, Triage RNs, LPNs, Medical Assistant (MA) Supervisors, MAs, Collaboration: Care Management Supervisor, Medical Directors, Health Center Managers, Project Manager(s), CEO, COO, QI/compliance Director Job Description: I. The Nurse Manager is provides oversight and/or direct hiring, training, and disciplinary actions for all staff within the Nursing Department: staff and triage RNs, LPNs, MA supervisors, and MAs II. The Nurse Manager is responsible for the direct management and supervision of leadership activities of the MA Supervisors. III. The Nurse Manager is responsible for the supervision of all direct patient care provision by staff within the Nursing Department including staff and triage RNs, LPNs, MA supervisors, and MAs at their designated health centers in adherence with CHA values and mission and Patient-Centered Medical Home (PCMH) standards. IV. The Nurse Manager must be able to perform and meet standards/skills of the staff for which they manage including but not limited to frontline nursing and MA-level job duties at CHA health centers. V. The Nurse Manager designs and supervises the orientation and training of all staff within the Nursing department. The Nurse Manager designs and supervises the ongoing training for staff/triage RNs, LPNs, MA supervisors, and MAs as needed. VI. The Nurse Manager performs ongoing performance evaluations and appraisals with the staff within the Nursing Department to verify they meet CHA standards, job-specific performance/quality measures, and help improve their knowledge/skills. VII. The Nurse Manager will ensure compliance and ongoing processing of new and renewal accreditation with OSHA, CLIA, & State of Nevada Immunization Program regulations and licensure in conjunction with the QI/Compliance Director. VIII. The Nurse Manager participates on the CHA Pharmaceuticals and Therapeutics Committee. IX. The Nurse Manager participates in other committees and meetings as assigned by CMO. Nurse Manager Responsibilities: 1. Oversees the day to day operations of the back office to help it run smoothly. 2. Knowledge of the essential functions, practices & procedures of CHA health centers 3. Works in direct collaboration with health center managers 4. Superior use of the Electronic Medical Record (EMR) 5. Supervise all staff/triage RNs, LPNs, MA supervisors, and MAs at their designated health centers a. Demonstrates competency and ability to supervise and train MA supervisors and MAs according to their Job Description.

2 b. Orients new RNs, LPNs, MA s, helping them comprehend and complete skills list and orientation packet. c. Oversees RN, LPN, MA rooming and encounter processes to insure standardized practice and high quality services. c. Responsible for approving PTO & maintaining working schedule for the CHA health centers nursing/ma staff using the EBS time system. d. Completes staff performance evaluations and appraisals as required per CHA policy e. Oversees RN, LPN, MA current CLIA-lab licensure and CPR certifications and other certifications 2 Community Health Alliance Job Description -- Nurse Manager

3 f. Ensures completion and passage of the Registered MA (RMA) exam by all MA staff in accordance with CHA policy g. Participates in credentialing/privileging procedures for RN and LPN staff as directed by CMO and/or CHA policy 6. Attends Code Blues when present at health center 7. Oversight of pre-employment candidate and active employee Tuberculosis (TB) screening program in collaboration with Human Resources Director, CMO, and Medical Director(s), as established through CHA TB screening policy 8. Oversight of CLIA laboratory standards at all CHA health centers a. Oversees laboratory daily duties to ensure compliance with policy & procedures. b. Oversees RN, LPN, MAs current CLIA-lab licensure and renewals c. Will have RN, LPN, MA s complete yearly CLIA-lab competencies. 9. Oversight of back office supply chain and ordering processes a. Works with purchasing to ensure adequate supplies are available to staff and patients b. Works in collaboration with health center managers to assist with supply chain oversight 10. Participation in Quality Improvement (QI) program a. Participates in Quality Improvement program as directed or requested b. Utilized reports generated from EMR & Practice Management (PM) system when applicable to enhance designated staff s quality performance 11. Ensures proper computer procedures are followed as per CHA s Policy & Procedure 12. Assists in coordinating repairs and maintenance of medical equipment with facility manager and health center managers 13. Completes tasks as assigned by supervisors 14. Completes all required Worker s Compensation forms and ensure prompt care and treatment of worker and any other individual involved. 15. Knowledge of CPT & ICD-9-CM coding, NDC codes. 16. Skill in operating personal computer utilizing word processing, data bases, , and excel. 17. Skill in operating various office equipment, such as calculator, copy machine, facsimile machine, and telephone system 18. Skill in operating various medical office equipment, such as EKG machine, pulse oximeter, nebulizer, spirometry, audiology equipment, tympanogram, etc 19. Pays attention to accuracy and detail 20. Ability to read, write legibly in English, calculate mathematical figures and mediation doses 21. Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of variables. 22. Ability to exercise good judgment in appraising situations and making decisions. 23. Ability to communicate in a courteous and professional manner. 24. Ability to understand and respond appropriately, effectively and sensitively to special populations groups as defined by race, ethnicity, language, age, sex, etc. 25. Ability to hear and speak well enough to converse over the the phone and interview a patient or staff. 26. Ability to see to accurately calculate and administer doses of medication and perform duties as a MA. 27. Ability to maintain a CLIA-lab licensure, CPR, & Driver s License and to perform transportation or courier duties as needed.
