1 Aloaha PDF Suite Server Hotfolder The Aloaha PDF Suite Server comes with a number of hotfolder which can be used with just dropping a file into the hotfolder. Those hotfolder are subfolder of the installation folder of Aloaha. Per default that is: C:\Program Files (x86)\wrocklage. For example: Autoprint will print any PDF to a physical printer. Any non PDF document will be printed to the Aloaha PDF Printer. Ascii2PDFFolder will convert ASCII encoded text documents to PDF. BarCodeFolder will apply barcodes to the PDF document. Commandfolder Dropmailer any document dropped into the dropmailer will be injected into the normal Aloaha workflow AFTER the PDF generation via virtual printer. Img2PDF to convert any image file to a PDF Document. Splitter will split any PDF document into single page documents. Splitmail will split PDF documents as configured in its configuration and mails them to the defined recipient. Tosign to digitally sign any PDF document with your digital certificate. WebDAVFolder uploads PDF document to the defined remote WebDAV folder. 3 Configure the Mail Server in Aloaha Right click on the grey system tray icon and choose Settings In the new dialog you choose If you are planning to use Aloaha non-interactive or as windows service it is suggested you configure the inbuilt PDF mailer in SMTP or Exchange Web Services (EWS) Mode. SMTP To use SMTP you need to disable ALL checkboxes, define user/password and obviously the SMTP Port. SSL To force SSL Encryption please set manually the following key in the registry to 1 (create if not existent): HKLM\SOFTWARE\<Wow6432Node>\Aloaha\pdf\useSSL Disable SMTP Authentication To disable SMTP Authentication please leave username/password field empty. Additional you can set in the registry HKLM\SOFTWARE\<Wow6432Node>\Aloaha\pdf\SMTPAuthenticate to 0 (create if not existent). 0 means Anonymous

4 EWS A better, but unfortunately slower, way of sending s is the Exchange Web Service. Obviously you need an Exchange Server installed and EWS configured and enabled. The advantage of using EWS is that sent mails are kept in the sent folder of the configured mail user. To use EWS simply configure Username/Password/Exchange Alias and tick the checkbox Web Mail. Troubleshoot Mailer The Aloaha PDF Mailer keeps a logfile for every sent or failed mail. You find the logfile in the Aloaha installation folder as maillog.ini. In case you experience any problems please have a look in this file. Please also note that you need to activate Mailing! To do so please right click on the grey system tray icon and choose Advanced Settings. There you need to make sure that Disable Mailing is NOT activated. You can also check manually that: HKCU\Software\Aloaha\pdf\skipmail and HKLM\SOFTWARE\<Wow6432Node>\Aloaha\pdf\skipmail Are set to 0 Switch Aloaha to non-interactive mode To switch Aloaha to non-interactive mode is pretty easy. Just right click on the grey system tray icon and disable interactive. Please note that that option is ONLY visible if you are logged on as a user with administrative rights!

5 Configure Aloaha to run as windows service To run Aloaha as Windows Service please follow the steps below: Stop any running Aloaha instance. Remove the Aloaha shortcuts from the Startup/Autostart Menu Open the Services Control Panel (services.msc) and configure the PDF Suite Service to run Automatic. Configure the service use to be used. Ideally you use the user you used to configure Aloaha. The reason is that many settings are saved under HKCU in the registry and if you configure Aloaha as User A but run the Service as Localsystem the user Localsystem will NOT have any access to the settings saved in HKCU of User A. Start the service. Using Aloaha PDF Suite Server to convert images to PDF Please make sure that Aloaha is running either non-interactive OR as Windows Service. Drop any image file (bmp, fax, tif, etc) into the folder <installdir>\img2pdf Converted images and original files will be saved to <installdir>\img2pdf\done If you want a different folder for the generated PDF please configure and point HKLM\SOFTWARE\<Wow6432Node>\Aloaha\pdf\IMG2PDFDoneFolder to a different location. That could be required if you want the generated PDFs to be mailed to someone via the dropmailer folder or if you want generated PDF to be digitally signed via the tosign folder. Using the dropmailer hotfolder Every PDF document dropped into the hotfolder dropmailer will be injected into the normal PDF workflow of Aloaha. For example you can use the dropmailer to mail out your existing PDF documents. The folder of the dropmailer is configured in: HKLM\SOFTWARE\<Wow6432Node>\Aloaha\pdf\ dropmailerdir. Per default that is <installdir>\dropmailer Aloaha parses PDF documents for the recipient address. If no address is being found no is being sent out. For that reason it is advised to configure a default mailing address. In HKCU\Software\Aloaha\pdf please configure and to with your default mailing address. Ideally you configure the same in HKLM\SOFTWARE\<Wow6432Node>\Aloaha\pdf since that will be used as fallback in case there is nothing configured in HKCU.

6 Uses Cases Using IMG2PDF to convert to PDF and Mail to default user One very common use case is to drop FAX Images into the IMG2PDF folder to convert them to PDF and automatically mail them to a default user. To configure that please follow the steps below: 1. Install Aloaha. 2. Make sure you have a correct server license installed. 3. Configure your Mail to use SMTP or EWS and activate the Mailer. Please do not forget to configure default recipients. 4. Configure the done folder of IMG2PDF (HKLM\SOFTWARE\<Wow6432Node>\Aloaha\pdf\IMG2PDFDoneFolder) to point to the dropmailer (HKLM\SOFTWARE\<Wow6432Node>\Aloaha\pdf\ dropmailerdir ) folder. 5. Switch Aloaha to non-interactive mode or configure Aloaha to run as service.
