8 LISTING OF ORGANIZATIONS PROVIDING SERVICES TO ABORIGINAL ENTREPRENEURS IN BRITISH COLUMBIA This Attachment I is a listing of service providers that are active in providing support services to Aboriginal entrepreneurs in British Columbia. The listing is part of the Gap Analysis Project, which aims to determine if the current system of supports is meeting the needs of Aboriginal entrepreneurs. This listing is designed to help service providers by ensuring they have current information about who is providing services in British Columbia. As well, the information compiled here has been used to inform the analysis in the Gap Analysis Main Report. In order to keep this Attachment concise and useable, the Attachment is focused on agencies whose services are directly targeted to Aboriginal entrepreneurs or their businesses. ABSN REACH Sites The Reach Site Program enables the host organization to provide access to a computer, Internet and written resource materials for Aboriginal entrepreneurs. Aboriginal Capital Corporations/Aboriginal Financial Institutions (ACC/AFI) ACC/AFI's provide business financing and support to Aboriginal businesses, including: business loans, financial consulting services, aftercare, and start-up support. Business Advisory Centers Business advisory centers assist Aboriginal entrepreneurs with business start-up or expansion, partnerships and planning. First Citizens Fund - Business Loan Program Business loans are available to Aboriginal residents of British Columbia through the First Citizens Fund and is delivered by a range of Aboriginal financial institutions, for most types of operations and in a wide range of sectors including retail, services, fishing, forestry, agriculture, tourism and hospitality, manufacturing, new technologies and export. Community Futures Development Corporations and Community Business Development Corporations (CFDCs/CBDCs) CFDCs/CBDCs provide their communities with a variety of services including business development loans, technical support, training and information.
