1 COURSES OF STUDY AND ELIGIBILITY REQUIREMENTS ADMISSION OF FOREIGN NATIONALS Application from Foreign Nationals, nominated by the Govt. of India under scholarship Scheme and self-financing Foreign Nationals shall be entertained for the various Courses as per the Admission Bulletins for the respective academic sessions. The foreign nationals need not appear in the BHU entrance tests for admission, however, they should have passed the equivalent Qualifying Examination from an Indian or Foreign University / Institution. Provision to the extent of 15% (of the total seats in various Courses) supernumerary seats for Foreign Nationals exists. Out of which 5% seats shall be filled up by Children of NRIs [Persons of Indian Origin (PIO)] and 5% by children of Indian Workers in Gulf and South Asian Countries. For the definition of NRIs and PIOs, please refer the website of the Ministry of Home Affairs/Ministry of Human Resource Development, Government of India and/university Grants Commission etc. ALL THE FOREIGN NATIONALS HAVE TO FULFILL THE FOLLOWING CONDITIONS: A. At the time of submitting the application: (i) All the foreign nationals should submit their application, along with the processing fee, on prescribed format, which can be freely downloaded from the website <international centre. (ii) The applications of scholarship-holding Foreign Nationals (under various schemes) are routed through the Indian Council for Cultural Relations/ Ministry of Human Resource Development (Department of Education) Ministry of Health & Family Welfare/External Affairs Govt. of India, New Delhi. (iii) The admission to the Bachelor in Technology & Medical Courses are done based on the entrance test conducted by IITs and nomination made by the Govt. of India only, hence the candidates may contact the concerned Ministries of the Govt. of India and/or The Embassy of India aboard for detailed guidelines/rules. The antecedents of the candidate have been verified by the forwarding Agencies/Ministry and found in order. (iv) They hold a valid foreign passport.

2 (v) They have adequate knowledge of English and/or Hindi as per the requirements of the Course. B. At the time of admission (v) They have valid Student Visa/ Residential permit in India granted for studies for the Prescribed duration of the concerned Course. (vi) They fulfill the minimum eligibility requirements as given in the respective information bulletins of the University. (vii) They produce all the Mark sheets/grade Cards, Degree/Certificates and other relevant academic records in Original. (viii) English version of Certificates/Documents, certified by competent authority (in case original Certificates/Documents are in other than English language). (ix) Grade Conversion formula from the Institution (if marks not mentioned/awarded in percentage) (x) They are subject for Medical Test (HIV). In case found HIV positive, admission will not be granted. (xi) Payment of all the fees/charges as per University norms, subject to subject revision if any. C. General The Degrees/Certificates, of the candidates have been recognized and approved by the Association of Indian Universities (AIU)/Commonwealth Universities/International Association of Universities (IAU) as equivalent to the corresponding Indian Degrees/Certificates. All the eligible foreign nationals are required to fill up the Registration Form prescribed by the University at the time of admission. The applicant should have completed 17 years of age; there is no maximum age limit for foreign nationals. The inter-se merit among various foreign nationals will be decided by the respective committees for Admissions of Foreign Nationals, which shall be deemed as final. Further details regarding admission of foreign nationals are available on the website which is updated periodically. Last Date for submission of Applications by Foreign Nationals: usually by the end of April every year.

3 [For admission to the courses during session, the last date for submitting the applications is 30th April 2011] The applications should be submitted to the INTERNATIONAL CENTRE, C/3/3, Tagore House, BANARAS HINDU UNIVERSITY, VARANASI , INDIA either in person or by Post on or before 30th April, 2011 at the prescribed date. No application will be entertained after the deadline. GENERAL NOTES Candidates admitted to any Course in this University shall not be eligible to pursue

10 simultaneously any other full-time Course in this or in any other University/Institution. If the applicant has passed the qualifying Exam where grades are awarded and: (a) Where the Grade Sheet does not mention the equivalent percentage of marks from grade points, the candidate should submit such a Certificate of conversion from the concerned Institution mentioning either the converted percentage, or the formula for the actual conversion of grade point average to percentage of marks. (b) Where the Grade Sheet itself mentions the equivalent percentage of marks from grade points, or the formula for such conversion, the candidate should get both sides of the Degree/Grade Sheet photocopied showing the equivalent percentage of marks/conversion formula and enclose with the Application Form. (iii) Aggregate percentage of marks does not include grace marks awarded to a candidate. 3. GENERAL RULES The Distance Education Council of Indira Gandhi National Open University (IGNOU)/ Association of Indian Universities (AIU) is the only authority to recognize the Degrees/Certificates of Distance Education. Such Candidates are required to submit certificates from Distance Education Council of IGNOU, New Delhi regarding recognition/approval of the courses. FEE FOR FOREIGN NATIONALS: Please refer the heading Fee Structure. Fee structure for all the categories of foreign nationals is given below. Any kind of Fee or Charges (in Indian Currency or US Dollars equivalent to Indian Currency) are to be paid in the form of Demand Draft in favour of Registrar, Banaras Hindu University payable at Varanasi.

(Bachelor of Education [Spl.]): 1 year Graduate under at least pattern [including Shastri] with a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate considering all the subjects in three years except those subjects where only pass marks are required and which do not contribute to the total in the final (degree) marksheet. The applicant must have at least one School subject* at the graduation level as a main subject**. OR M.A./M.Sc./M.Com./Acharya securing a minimum of 50% marks in the aggregate. The applicant must have at least one school subject* at the graduation or postgraduation level as a main subject**. 15 The Banaras Hindu University admits the foreign nationals to various Postgraduate Courses. Admissions will be made according to merit amongst the candidate subject to fulfilling of eligibility requirements mentioned below and availability of seats in the particular Course for which the candidate has applied. These Courses have been divided into General Courses, Professional Courses and Special Courses. A.
