2 2 EMT-Paramedic EMT Paramedic class consists of 640 didactic hours. The class is based on a traditional classroom format including lecture, skills and labs sessions. Requirements for admission to the Paramedic class are as follows: - GED or High School Diploma - Completion of all required forms and records - A Current EMT Basic certification from the North Carolina Office of EMS. - Achievement of at least 12 th grade reading level or completion of a college level English Course. - Achievement of 10 th grade level math skills or the completion of Math Computer access with high speed internet - Access to Microsoft Word, Microsoft PowerPoint and Internet browsing software for assignments. EMT Paramedic students will have additional clinical hours for completion of the program. The requirement is 200 hours in a hospital setting, as well as 300 hours utilizing EMS units.
