5 Accelerated Programs: Washington s Public Baccalaureates Senate Bill 5442 defined accelerated baccalaureate degree programs as: As a program for academically qualified students A program that does not represent a new three- year standard for all students An opportunity to expand opkons while not diminishing the quality or value of a standard baccalaureate degree A program that explores reasonable possibilikes for this pathway A program that does not require summer classes nor enrollment in more than a full- Kme class load and allows students to begin course work within their academic field during their first term or semester of enrollment The Council of Presidents
6 Accelerated Programs: Washington s Public Baccalaureates Na7onally there are four general accelerated degree models: Prior learning credit (a.k.a. dual credit), Competency- based, Course reduckon, and Compression. Current accelerated degrees in Washington: v Most common model in Washington is prior learning. v Washington 45 v Summer enrollment and programs that offer inter- term courses The Council of Presidents
