1 Quick Reference Guide How to Enroll into Online Health & Safety Courses This guide shows you how to enroll into the Online Safety Training courses provided by the Environment, Health and Safety department at the University of Calgary. Before launching this course, here are some things you need to know. 1. After completing this course once, it can be re-launched again in Enterprise Learning by following the menu path: Quick Links > My Learning > Name/Title of your course (e.g., Biosafety Program Training). Then click the Re-launch link. 2. You can stop the course and resume it again without losing your place any time before taking the online quiz. The Enterprise Learning system will remember where you left off. 3. The online quiz must be completed in its entirety. If you leave the online quiz before completing it, you will be required to start from the beginning when you log in again. Begin, by navigating to the Environment, Health and Safety website located at: Access Training 1. From the main menu, click the Training link. Select your Course 2. From the Orientation and Training section, click the Course Listing-Mandatory Training heading. 3. From the list displayed, select your course (e.g., Biosafety Program Training) by clicking its link from the Course Name heading. 4. [Optional] If prompted, enter in your CAS credentials The Class Details screen for your specific course will display. Phone: Page 1

2 Enroll into the Online Course 5. Click the Enroll button. Review Enrollment Information 6. Review your information as displayed onscreen, then click the Submit Enrollment button to commit the changes. A confirmation message will display, confirming your enrollment into the online course. Review Class Details 7. Click the Go To the Class button to review the class details for your course. Phone: [email protected] Page 2

3 Initiate your Online Course 8. Click the Launch link displayed on-screen. 9. [optional] For more information about the class, click the Presentation link on-screen. 10. [optional] You can also drop the class by clicking the Drop button. Important Note! Remember to disable your pop-up blocker for your browser before starting your course. Launch your Online Course 11. Click the Launch link to begin your course. Navigating the Online Course 12. Click the button to begin your course. Hint! The button is also used to navigate through the rest of the slides in the course. Phone: Page 3

4 Completing your Online Course 13. Click the Continue button to mark the course as complete. 14. [optional] Click the Re-try Quiz button if you would like to take the quiz over again. Congratulations! You ve successfully completed an Online Safety course using the Enterprise Learning System. Important Reminder! Your course is not marked as Completed until you click the Continue button (Step 13). Without clicking this button, your course will always stay in an In-progress status. Review or Exit the Online Course 15. To review the course again, click the button. OR 16. To exit the course, close the browser window in which you re viewing the online course. Phone: Page 4

5 Confirm Completion of Online Course 17. Confirm that the Enrollment Status of your course in the Enterprise Learning System is showing as Completed. Also ensure that a Confirmation Number has been generated and is displayed (as shown in the example). Note: If your status has not changed to Completed, please contact the Integrated Service Centre at Print your Confirmation of Completion 18. Navigate to the My Learning Quick Link in Enterprise Learning by following the menu path: Quick Links > My Learning. 19. Locate your course (e.g., Biosafety Program Training) and click the Print icon (on the right side of your screen). Helpful Hints! Navigation Remember to use the buttons to move forward or backward in the presentation Quiz This button is used to advance the learner to the next question in the quiz. 6 If your online course is not displaying properly, it could be due to your browser settings, pop-up blockers, or missing software. For Internet Explorer 11 (or higher), please follow these steps: Click the zoom level button, and select Custom Then, change the zoom level to fit your screen (normally 80-85% zoom is sufficient) Browser Issues For Firefox, please follow these steps: Click and drag the corner of the window that s open and resize it accordingly Alternatively, you can press the F11 button (on Windows machines) to view the contents in Full-screen mode For more information and to view other training material available, please visit the Environment, Health and Safety website at: Phone: [email protected] Page 6
