1 Bank of China (Hong Kong) Launches ibond Subscription Service with Promotional Offers 10 Jul 2011 Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited ("BOCHK") announced the offering of Inflation-Linked Retail Bond ("ibond") subscription service and a host of promotional offers from 11 July 2011 following the launch of ibond by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government. The promotional offers, including waivers of 0.15% subscription fee, custody fee and interest collection fee, are all designed to help customers reduce bond subscription costs and maximise their potential investment returns. To subscribe for the ibond through BOCHK, customers must hold a securities account and a HKD savings or current account as the settlement account with the Bank. The bond subscription refund and the interest collected in respect of the bond will be credited to customer s settlement account. BOCHK launches an array of promotional offers to help customers capture the investment opportunities. From 9 am on 11 July 2011 to 2 pm on 19 July 2011 ("Subscription Period"), customers can enjoy waivers of subscription fee, custody fee (Note 1) and interest collection fee (Note 2) for ibond subscription through BOCHK, Nanyang Commercial Bank ("NCB") or Chiyu Banking Corporation ("Chiyu"). In addition, during the period from 11 July 2011 to 23 July 2011, upon subscription of any debt securities or investment products (Note 3), customers can enjoy preferential interest rate of 1.00% p.a. for placing a designated HKD time deposit with new funds and will receive a supermarket cash coupon worth HK$50 (Note 4). Customers can subscribe for ibond at nearly 270 branches of BOCHK, NCB and Chiyu or through Internet Banking Service at or respectively. Alternatively, customers may call BOCHK Investment Services Hotline at (852) , BOCHK Wealth Management Hotline at (852) , NCB Customer Service Hotline at (852) or Chiyu Customer Service Hotline at (852) for bond subscription to enjoy greater convenience. The ibond issued by the Hong Kong Special Administrative Region Government has a tenor of three years. The principal amount of the ibond is HK$10,000 or an integral multiple thereof. The ibond will be issued on 28 July 2011 and listed on the Hong Kong Stock Exchange on 29 July 2011 with maturity on 28 July The interest will be paid once every 6 months and determined based on the higher of the fixed rate of 1.00% or the floating rate, being the arithmetic average of the year-on-year rates of change in the Composite Consumer Price Index for the 6 most recent preceding months. ibond subscription is limited to holders of valid HKID card only. Custody fee is levied half-yearly at a rate of 0.015% on the average daily balance with a minimum charge of HK$100 and a maximum charge of HK$2,500. The fee is charged on 31 May and 30 November each year and calculated based on the daily balance in the past 6 months. 2. Interest collection fee is charged at a rate of 0.5% on the amount of each interest payment. 3 Bank of China (Hong Kong) Offers Reverse Mortgage Programme Launched by the Hong Kong Mortgage Corporation Limited 11 Jul 2011 Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited ("BOCHK") announced the provision of the Reverse Mortgage Programme launched by the Hong Kong Mortgage Corporation Limited to enrich its mortgage product offerings to meet the needs of customers at different stages of life. The Bank accepts customer applications starting from today. The Reverse Mortgage Programme allows elderly people aged 60 or above to enjoy greater financial flexibility after retirement by pledging their self-occupied residential property in Hong Kong as security for a mortgage loan from the Bank. Borrower will receive monthly payouts over a payment term of either a fixed period of 10, 15 or 20 years or his/her entire life, or may receive the loan on a lump-sum basis according to his/her needs. The interest rate of the loan is determined by the Hong Kong Mortgage Corporation Limited. While continuing to live in the mortgaged property for the rest of life, the borrower is not required to repay the outstanding loan balance unless the reverse mortgage loan is terminated under certain specified circumstances. In addition, no penalty will be imposed if the borrower fully repays the outstanding loan amount and redeems the mortgaged property at any time. 4 Bank of China (Hong Kong) received the first application for the Reverse Mortgage Programme in Hong Kong 18 Jul 2011 Bank of China (Hong Kong) Limited ("BOCHK") announced that it received the first application for the Reverse Mortgage Programme in Hong Kong today (18 July) after the launch of the Programme by the Hong Kong Mortgage Corporation Limited on 11 July. BOCHK is committed to offering flexible financial solutions to eligible senior customers to enhance their quality of life. The customer who became the first in Hong Kong to submit application for the Reverse Mortgage Programme was given a detailed explanation on the product features by BOCHK's designated staff and received a counselling certificate after completing the counselling session. Qualified counsellors have explained the legal rights and obligations under the Programme to the customer. The Reverse Mortgage Programme has been well received by the public. BOCHK received more than 130 customer enquiries about the Programme from 11 July to 18 July The properties that were intended to be pledged to the Bank were mostly medium to major private residential housing estates. Customers who are interested in the Programme wish to pledge their self-occupied residential properties in Hong Kong as security for a mortgage loan from the Bank to receive monthly payouts over a payment term of either a fixed period of 10, 15 or 20 years or their entire life, so as to enjoy greater financial security with stable stream of income. While continuing to live in the mortgaged property for the rest of life, customers do not have to worry about repayment of the loan and interest or the handling of the property afterwards.
