2 Startup Step 1 - Turn Off Equipment Verify the iseries and other equipment to be protected by the UPS is powered off Step 2 - Connect Interface Cable iseries Models FC 0551 w/270 installed with B38 Obtain IPK-0003 (1ea) and IPK-0007 (1ea) from your local Invensys or IBM Representative Connect the UPS to the two Servers using the interface cables show in the Diagram Connecting Interface Cable - 2 Servers to 1 UPS AxxStart-iSeries Dec, 2000 Page 2

4 Startup Step 2 - Connect Interface Cable All other iseries Models Connect the UPS to the Server using the interface cable (Best PN INT-0065) show in the Diagram Connecting Interface Cable - 1 Server to 1 UPS The UPS end of the interface cable connects to the UPS communications port. The other end of the interface cable connects to the port marked J14 or UPS on the rear panel of the Server. The interface cable is located in UPS Carton AxxStart-iSeries Dec, 2000 Page 4

6 Startup Step 3 - Preparing to Connect Power to iseries Equipment from the UPS Use UPS Equipment Jumper Cords B34 & B36 - Put away (store) power cords that came with Server equipment. NOTE: B35, B37 & B38 - You used the Server power cord to connect the UPS to utility power Adequate quantity of equipment jumper cords included with UPS for most applications B34 & B36 = three (3) equipment jumper cords B35 & B37 = four (4) equipment jumper cords B38 = five (5) equipment jumper cords Located in UPS carton AxxStart-iSeries Dec, 2000 Page 6

16 Startup Integrating Other Power Connections A few models of Server Equipment have larger plug types e.g. 840 CEC, SB3 CEC & If you want to power this type of equipment, or, equipment that requires more VA or Watts than the UPS can provide, contact your local Invensys or IBM Representative and request an Axxium Pro 3kVA or 6kVA 9910-UPS AxxStart-iSeries Dec, 2000 Page 16

17 Startup Step 5 - Turn on your Equipment Turn on equipment sequentially If the UPS alarm beeps when you start the equipment, the UPS may be overloaded. For more information go to Troubleshooting in the Axxium Rackmount User Guide Set QUPSDLYTIM system value for the UPS Monitoring feature UPS monitoring is a standard feature of the iseries operating system. QUPSDLYTIM is a timer in the Server that tells the system how long to run on UPS power before shutting down. Each system is initially assigned a default value for QUPSDLYTIM.
