2 AUTOMOTIVE RESOURCES Fairview Educational Services Ltd (FEDS) is based in the Waikato and has been established since We are NZQA accredited and have 17 years experience delivering automotive training and resources. We provide automotive resources to over 180 schools throughout New Zealand and deliver full-time courses at our Hamilton site. Fairview resources overview: Workbooks available for unit standards at levels 1, and 3 Nine Gateway pack options available as well as numeracy and standalone units Schools have access to additional supporting resources on the FEDS website (practice papers, revision activities) Unused workbooks can be passed on to another student (by arrangement with FEDS) Certificates issued to students when Gateway packs are completed The majority of unit standards covered in the Gateway packs count towards an automotive apprenticeship and Vocational Pathways qualifications We also supply: o Boots and overalls to schools at competitive prices o Workbooks to schools that teach automotive classes NEW FOR 015. NEW FOR 015. ELECTRONIC OPTION FOR WORKBOOK REVIEW QUESTIONS AND PRACTICE PAPERS For 015 we are adding a facility to our website to enable schools to download activities that can be completed electronically by their students. This allows students to complete review questions and practice assessment papers using their electronic devices. Student answers for review questions can be ed to FEDS by the teacher for marking (practice papers are marked at school). NB. this electronic process is entirely optional, schools are welcome to carry on with the current hard copy workbook format used in 014. WEB LINKS We have added YouTube web links on to our website. These are links that tutors at Fairviews have found useful when delivering courses to our fulltime students. INTRO OFFER For 015 we are making unit 1674 (terminology) available to purchase as a single unit. This will allow schools to determine a student s interest level in the automotive area. The price for this unit will be $75 (please note if a Gateway pack is purchased when unit 1674 is completed the $75 will be credited against the pack price of $90). ADDITIONAL LEVEL 3 UNIT Unit standard 3817 (DKO of braking principles and component operations) worth 5 credits will be offered in 015 (five level 3 s now available). GATEWAY PACKS We have several gateway packs available that are designed to suit students in a range of automotive and related workshops. Students can start on any of our packs or we can tailor make a pack to suit (see pack 9). Each pack totals 1 credits. FEDS marks all workbooks and assessments for the units in the Gateway packs. The large majority of units in the Fairview Gateway packs count towards the Vocational Pathways Manufacturing and Technology Sector. 6 STANDALONE UNITS Units: 15408/461/1349/1857 Our standalone units are written with an automotive focus but include key work and life skills. Many schools deliver these units to students across different curriculum areas. 7 NUMERACY PACK Units: 15408/461/1857/663 Our numeracy pack includes unit standards 15408, 461 and 1857 with unit 663 embedded within these three units. By completing these three units over a period of time students can use the numeracy activities as evidence for unit 663. This combined pack of three workbooks (with one question booklet) covers four unit standards and totals 13 NCEA credits.
