The Software Engineer will work as part of an agile team of developers to develop and ensure support for software components of an enterprisescale hospital information system. The individual must be a team-player and willing to function as a support person and developer, as required on a daily basis to meet the goals of the team. On a day to day basis, this individual will maintain and further develop a core part of the Global Acute Clinicals software product Soarian working with the Clinical Documentation team reporting to a Sr Management in the organization. Their responsibilities will require analyzing, designing, coding, testing and documenting new feature enhancements, but also providing development product support. Development will be done in an agile work environment, following agile best practices. Responsibilities Participate in semi-complex design, maintenance, enhancement, testing, implementation, documentation, and support of software. Participates in providing estimates for semi-complex modules under development, and will estimate their own work. Supports the reviewing of semi-complex customers' standards specification and other documentation to determine software engineering requirements. Provides support with the software quality process through the execution of semi-complex module, subsystem and system test procedures. Participates in presentations of semi-complex technical findings and developments. Develops solutions that exceed customer expectations in a wide variety of languages. Writes unit and functional tests that support positive and negative test scenarios 1

2 Collaborates with the analysts and testers to develop comprehensive solutions Follows best practices such as test drive development, peer reviews, etc. Mentors other team members in areas of expertise Required Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience BS/BA degree in Information Technology, Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field Required Technical Skills in one or more of the following technologies o 2+ years experience developing in C++ o 2+ years experience developing in Java o 2+ years experience developing in JSP o 2+ years experience developing in Javascript o 2+ years experience with relational databases, SQL o 2+ years experience working in an Agile environment Version Control Tool (ClearCase or AccuRev preferred) Travel Requirements could range from 0-10% Preferred Knowledge/Skills, Education, and Experience Experience working with non co-located teams Prior experience working in healthcare environment Preferred Technical Skills o Experience working with Websphere or Tomcat o Experience working with CSS3 o Experience working with Visual Basic o Experience with any other Test automation tools o Experience writing functional tests with Fitnesse o Experience with any Performance Testing Tools Job Family Responsibilities: Performs complex design, maintenance, enhancement, testing, implementation, and support of software. Education: BS/BA in related discipline, or advanced degree, where required, or equivalent combination of education and experience. Certification may be required in some areas. Knowledge and Experience: Demonstrates and applies a broad knowledge of field of specialization through successful completion of moderately complex assignments. Successfully applies complex knowledge of fundamental concepts, practices, and procedures of particular area of specialization.
