5 The Active Directory Solution Guide The Active Directory Solution Guide includes information about the installation, objects, and metrics available in the Active Directory Solution. The Active Directory Solution Guide describes the process of deploying a working instance of the Active Directory Plug-in in your vrealize Operations Manager environment. Intended Audience The information in this guide is intended for operations personnel who set up and support the vrealize Operations Manager infrastructure. 7 Introduction to the 1 Active Directory Solution The Active Directory Solution is deployed to vrealize Operations Manager. The Active Directory Plug-in collects metrics for specific objects such as the Active Directory Authentication Service, the Active Directory LDAP Service, and the Active Directory Server. The Active Directory Plug-in contained in the Active Directory Solution is propagated to the registered agents on each host machine. The Active Directory Plug-in collects metrics on specific objects. Objects in the Active Directory Plug-in The Active Directory Plug-in collects metrics for the following objects: Active Directory Authentication Service Active Directory LDAP Service Active Directory Server VMware, Inc. 7

9 Installing and Configuring the 2 Active Directory Solution You can download the Active Directory Solution from the VMware Solution Exchange website. Install the Active Directory Plug-in The Active Directory Solution consists of a PAK file. Save the PAK file from the solution to a temporary folder on your local system. Procedure 1 Log in to the vrealize Operations Manager user interface as an administrator. 2 In the left pane of vrealize Operations Manager, click the Administration icon and click Solutions. 3 On the Solutions tab, click the plus sign. 4 Browse to locate the temporary folder and select the PAK file. 5 Click Upload. The upload might take several minutes. 6 Read and accept the EULA, and click Next. Installation details appear in the window during the process. 7 When the installation is finished, click Finish.
